Tuesday Tales…Pawing It Forward

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I am working on a “Paw It Forward Project“…following in Cousin Leo’s paw tracks so to meow…

His project was so successful ( click HERE to see his project launch) that I decided to give it a go myself.

I am working with my feline girl furriend, Selina…One Eye On The Future

And I am asking ALL OF YOU to help us help them in their Furrever Castle Search…there is a badge size photo at the bottom of this post if you want to let Blogville know you are working on the Paw It Forward Project: Finding Rachel and Ray Charles Furrever Castle!!

final_furrever castle dream

We have  put together a nice Hope Chest for Rachel and Ray Charles. Brian and his Dad Terry made the first contribution to the Hope Chest…and then we added in a few more things…

Rachel and Ray Charles Hope Chest…all items will go with them to their furrever home:

  • Two Petsmart gift cards…each kitty gets their own…each card for $100 !!! Thank you Brian!!
  • One month supply of their fave canned food…Fancy Feast pate
  • Transportation will be arranged anywhere in the East/South East
  • Two brand new Nip N Nap Mats just like mine!!! (I had those put in special for them...)
  • Little black kitty bed that Ray Charles likes
  • Two parachute play cubes that RC loves to play/hide in
  • Food/water bowls
  • All toys purchased for them, and Selina is gonna throw in some new ones, too
  • Some of their favorite treats (Whisker Lickins)

Selina and her Mom Laura have recently created a special page on Selina’s blog for Rachel and Ray Charles information.  This is sort of like the one I had on my blog page for my now “Cousin Leo”…remember??  So click HERE to go to their page if you need information or photos to help you do a blog post about them, or send out Tweets or post on your own Face Book page.

Selina also made sure they have their very own Face Book page…and you will find lots of up to date news and more photos by visiting their page…be sure to give them a ‘LIKE’ when you visit, ‘Kay??..here’s the link…Rachel and Ray Charles Forever Home Face Book

Many of you already know the story behind Rachel and Ray Charles…in case you don’t…be sure to visit the first post about them from Brian…

Ray Charles and Rachel are both very special kitties…they are only 7 months old, and weigh about 7 poinds each.  They had a really tough start in life…but I just know if we all work hard together, we can get them to the home that is right this minute starting to think about how much they want two black panther kitties…

Black is verrrrrrry slimming you know…and if a peep holds one black kitty on either side of their waist…they will look at least 10 pounds slimmer!!  No, really!! It’s true!! I swear to Ceiling Cat…that is the truth!!! I saw it right there on Face Book page for The Geminites

Just look how sleek they both are…this is a weight loss secret only black panfur cats know…

They both have eye challenges and vision issues. Yes, they are Special Need kitties…and full of love and playfulness. Rachel sees quite well but Ray Charles has very cloudy vision.  They just had their most recent Vet check August 17 and here is what their Foster Mom Laura reported:

Overall, both of them are in EXCELLENT health.  Their teeth are clean w/no tartar build-up; their gums are nice and pink; they won’t need any more shots, etc. until they turn one year of age, and they are eating/drinking, peeing/pooping like champs.

They both have an upper respiratory virus (Herpes).  It is not “catching” so no other kitties you have will be in any danger of getting it.  I’m familiar with Herpes flare-ups in cats’ eyes because two of mine are on L-Lysine daily in order to mitigate any problems they have with that.  The VET feels that the entropion is/was secondary to the pathology associated with the Herpes, but that the surgery they received was DEFINITELY the right thing to do for them on that score.

In Ray’s case, he suffers from BOTH corneal AND lens scarring, whereas Rachel only has minimal lens pathology.  So, while Rachel sees quite well, Ray sees more as if he is looking through a piece of wax paper being held in front of his eyes.

They are BOTH cross-eyed!  The VET believes (and frankly, so do I) there is definitely some Siamese/Oriental stuff going on in their genes.  The crossed eyes, the head/face shapes (that triangle/wedge shape) and the timber and distinctness of Rachel’s meows/vocalizations (not to mention HOW SMART they are!

They are thriving and, on Sunday, we had ANOTHER breakthrough, as Ray-Ray allowed me to pet him WHILE HE WAS IN HIS LITTLE BED!  That’s never happened before!

APAWS!!!  APAWS!!!

Here is a badge I asked Mom to make…if you want to let Blogville know you are working with us to get these two kitties adopted, then purrlease place it on your blog page in your side bar.
