Savannah's Paw Tracks

Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Boldly I Go Forward

Are you ready for yet ANOTHER huge paw step forward in my recovery from trauma progress???

I heard you all shout out YES!!! YES !!!

Great, ‘cuz this is gonna be great!

So I always knew our living room is lower than our dining room. And I did know that there is a rail between the two. Now TKS stepped up and quickly started using that “between” the rails path to get from the upper dining area to the lower living room area.

I hesitated for one and a half years. BUT—

About a month ago, I started to enter my place on the couch next to Mom L by slipping through the rails and joining her. Guess what I also started to realize??

I realized that Mom L’s head/hair was right about the level where I could take a long look at her hair. Now mind you, these photos are really fuzzy as Mom L I took them using our paw phone.

Hmmm—now this is really interesting.

So I started to snuffle Mom L’s hair. Of course it tickled her and eventually she noticed it wasn’t some stoopid bug, but ME!

Snuffle, snort, tickle

Snuffle, snort, tickle

I did that for about two weeks. And then I started to get REALLY REALLY BOLD!

I decided that Mom L had way too many stray hairs in her hair style. What better way to help her control her hair style, and in fact improve upon it, than to add KITTY SPIT!!

Come’on guys, you know I am right! We cats have been using KITTY SPIT aka KS for eons. It keeps our furs sleek, shiny and wondrously luxuriously delightful to stroke.

So I decided to put my shyness to the side and help Mom L not only gain luxurious head furs, but also to help get a way much needed hair style.

Of course, I needed to get up close and personal—

Ah, here is where her hair style needs help—chomp

Ah, here is where her hair style needs help—chomp

Well she jumped like a kitten seeing a cucumber!!! HEY!! WOMAN!!! I am just tryin’ to get a hold on your hair style. Chill lady!

Next came the KITTY SPIT aka KS conditioner.

Let me give this some KS healing

Let me give this some KS healing

Have any of you tried to help your human with their seriously depleted hair condition and also lame hair styles?? What was their reaction. And more importantly—

Well who knew her hair could also be tasty?

Well who knew her hair could also be tasty?

—did you find your human’s hair to be sort of a different taste delight?

And to my woofie pals, do wolfies help their humans with their hair styles and conditioning as much as we cats like to go??? Leave me some comments as to how I can be of better service to Mom L in getting her hair style and conditioning looking better.

  1. so lovely to see, you go girl!! proud of you

  2. Oh Savvy! What an adorable stylist you are!
and do you bring back the memories for me! Star LOVED hair! she didn’t lick it as much as she would roll her head around in it (much longer hair than your moms might be the difference) but wet hair was her favorite! Anyone with wet hair was not safe around Star! Try it next time your mom gets out of the shower, you might find it an extra special treat, MOL!

  3. I am late catching up ewith a comment although I read the post a few days ago.

  6. Sweet Savvy this post not only made our day but our weekend and all next week. You go sweetie we are so happy to see you moving forward and what a great job you did on Mom L’s hair. Hugs and nose kisses

  7. HI Savannah. I’ve never done personal peep grooming, but peep sometimes gives me a lick on the head, and I then administer nose rubs. Sort of a trade off! I agree, you have made real real progress, I wonder what will be next… Have a great day. Purrs, ERin

You go, Savvy! You should open up your own KS hair salon!

  9. BFGF, watch out for all the chemicals humans use in their furs. TW uses icky smelling shampoo and some sort of styling mousse—not mouse mind you—that has alcohol. She tells me that the first time she overnighted at Aunt Pauline’s, one of her cats attacked TW’s hair. She bit her scalp and pulled at her hair. Ouch.

  10. I do not style or condition Mom’s hair at all. But I do slurp her face and “clean” her glasses. And when she laughs, I lick her teeth!!

    Love and licks,

  11. MOL! Savannah, you may have a new career as a hair stylist! Paws up, girlfriend!

  12. Woo so silly Savannah! Love an woooos my dear,

Great job Savanah! I like to plant both front paws on the HuMom’s head and pull the hairs through my teeth. It helps remove and loose hairs and weeds out the frizzy gray parts. Be ready though because your human is likely to jump if you’ve got a good grip. It’s hard work but keep it up and you can have the best styled human on the west coast!

Good jo! You are going to save mom lots of money since she no longer needs to go to the beauty salon

  20. That is quite the milestone for you pal. I must say I’ve never tried to groom M’s haiir. She used to have one other cat tho that did. You have come a long way Savvy!

  21. Savvy, this is so cute and funny. One of our angels, Thelma, used to chew Mom’s hair while she slept. Looks like she had bangs in the back and the front. Bet Mom L absolutely loves this! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy.

  22. Savannah, I’ve been grooming Mom’s hair at night for years! She keeps moving so it’s hard….but I keep trying! 🙂
