Cat Vet Techs at Work

HIYA!!  SAVANNAH HERE!!!

It was the best of times and then the worst of times arrived. Nothing ‘epoch’ about these times whatsoever. Until the words ‘Vet Visit’ were spoken.

No!! Not the VET!!!

No!! Not the VET!!!

I have not been feeling well for some weeks. Nothing urgent, but I am back to being very constipated. In turn, I have become lethargic, not playing and in less than 5 months I gained a WHOLE POUND (1/2 kg).

Finally the dreaded first vet visit was set. They stole my bloods and stuffed some water under my skin like they thought I was a camel! And then they stuck a needle in me with some Pepcid. Great! All the tests came back normal.

The Pepcid lasted 24 hours but then my tummy was gurgling again; so the second vet visit was set and this one required a lot of Cat Vet Techs to assist. My favorite DVM is Dr Melanie, who owns Civic Feline Clinic. She has specially trained all her Cat Vet Techs, or so I always thought.

First, I was greeted by the Reception Cat Vet Tech. Looked like he was on a lunch break or something. Lazy cat.

Come back later. It's my break time

Come back later. It’s my break time

Next, I get shown into my own personal exam room…only to find I am not alone. Another Cat Vet Tech is already lying there waiting to take my weight and temp. He was really big and I practically started biting my claws out of anxiety!

I'm busy here; have a seat.

I’m busy here; have a seat.

Finally I was taken out of my exam room for my x-ray and I could hear all the Cat Vet Techs padding into my personal exam room.

MOUSES! They were having a staff meeting in my room! What the dickens were they saying about me??? (hover over photo to view captions please)

Thankfully my special Dr Melanie came in to talk with Mom L and Dad P and me about my xray results. She was far more professional than all the Cat Vet Techs.

Looks ok, but.....

Looks ok, but…..

There was even a Cat Vet Tech in the waiting room staring at me while we paid our bill. Shifty eyes if you ask me.

You're going now? Nice!

You’re going now? Nice!

As we left, the big gray fat Cat Vet Tech hopped back on my exam table and said something I swear sounded like “don’t let that door hit ya on the way out kid”…and then I am certain I heard several other Cat Vet Techs letting out guffaws! Terribly unprofessional I must say.

Watch your hind end kid...heh...heh

Unfortunately, my xray results were a little unclear so I had to return in a few days for the dreaded shaving of my tummy so they could do an ultrasound.

My ultrasound was great.

Next time you go to your DVM, be careful about any Cat Vet Techs. They can be very pushy and intrusive…just sayin’

Seriously though, all those cat vet techs? MOUSES! There’s only the one at the clinic where I go. Joey. Pretty nice guy, too.

Sure am glad to hear that you’re basically doing okay. Please be sure to take the stuff your peeps give you for your tummy, Savvy. You’ll feel better with less upchucking, I am sure.

  8. I hope you get to feeling better quickly. TW has been in touch with your staff over our health woes. I frew up too today and then koffed and panted. If was scary for TW. I’m to start the Pepcid again. Dr. D is scared to do an Ultrasound b/c she’s have to put me on my back and that’s a no-no. I’m gonna send you the super sonic healing purrz, BFGF.

Savvy, it distresses us that you have been sick. We are ashamed to say, however, that we laughed a lot at this post. Wow, those were a lot of Cat Vet Techs. Our Vet doesn’t have any of those! Hope your Dr. Melanie finds something for you very quickly to make your tummy better. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  10. We’re just happy those cats have jobs…even if they ARE unprofessional!

Savvy, we wonder if you have a food allergy–wonky tummies are no fun, just ask The Baby.

  11. We don’t have any cat vet techs at our vet…thank cod. Savvy, we’re glad that all you have is a wonky digestive system. Hopefully a little medicine can help that.

  12. That was a great review of yourself, Savvy. We’re so relieved that you are okay, besides of the sensititive stomach and the other things you’ve mentioned. It must be something in the air, Savvy. I had to change my food, before I stopped puking like that. Now I only have it incidential, mostly when I’m stressed out 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy and Healthy Week ahead 🙂 ❤

Savvy, we are so sorry you have been feeling so poorly. Phantom always had a sensitive tummy and Ciara can’t have her food switched around too quickly or she gets sick. We hope things will be much better for you soon.

There is only onc Cat Vet Tech that we have been able to see at our clinic, but we suspect there may be more hiding from us. This one makes bad noises at us and swats his paws – we just ignore him:)

  17. So glad they didn’t find anything wrong, Savvy. Those cat vet techs are pretty cute 🙂 We only have one kitty mascot at our vet’s office.

We’re sorry you had to visit the vet Savvy but but it is best that your Mom got you checked over. We wondered if a diet of freshly cooked warm chicken three times a day could make you feel better.

I have never seen those cat vet techs when I go to the vet. Just as well because I would have to hiss at them. I hope they can get your sensitive tummy settled and you soon feel better.

Wow. There are kitties that work at the STABBY PLACE? What an outrage! Maybe they are small woofies in disguise? I can hardly imagine any self-respecting kitty could betray his own kind like that!

I am glad you got a clean bill of health, Savvy. Whew! The Human a-members that about a year and a half ago, I was constantly upchucking (just like your picture!) for about 3 – 4 weeks and then gradually it just stopped. I hope your pukey phase does too! XOXOXOX

We hope you are feeling better soon Savannah. We’re glad those Cat Vet Techs didn’t find anything major wrong, even though we always find spending all that time at the vet to learn they don’t know what ails us abit aggravating. Does this mean special treats? We love special treats! Or any treat at all, for that matter!

  29. Well, that’s good news for sure. Whew. Also good news is that all my Vet Techs are human, AND they have cookies!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  30. That’s a lot of cat vet techs! We’re glad to hear that the vet thinks it’s nothing serious. Your humans must be very worried about. you.

  31. Oh, Savvy, please take care of yourself and don’t be ill. We couldn’t bear it if anything were to happen to you!
    MOUSES!

  32. Whee hope your tummy feels lots better soon!!

    xxxxx

  33. I didn’t know cats worked as vet techs! Apparently the first clinic Sparkle went to after my human brought her home had one – but it was just the one guy. He was very nice, I hear, and tried to calm down Sparkle, even though she was practically in hysterics. She never did like going to the vet.

I hope they figure out a remedy for your sensitive digestive system, Savvy! My human’s been dealing with that with Binga for a while now, although her symptoms are not as bad as yours.

  34. Your carpet decoration looks a little like a gingerbread man :o) I’m glad they couldn’t find dangerous things …. I hope the needle with the pepcid helps to comfort your tummy…

  35. Oh Savvy what a drama…our Cat Vet Tech Wonkin always finds somewhere to sleep..i do not think he earns his keep…just sayin…we hope soon the spews finish for you..maybe Mom L can try some slippery elm…sounds like the land of the hobbits but does work well paw pats Dinnermintz xxx

  36. Dey don’t look trustworthy to me.

  37. Glad to hear you just haven an anxious stomach.
