Friday News for Friday Sads

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

So I know I have missing for over a week. The news from my castle is troubling and sad. Let me tell the troubling

Mom L is having surgery on Monday to repair her prosthetic knee on her right leg. It has been buckling under her for months. This has caused her to have several hazardous falls onto cement floors, hard wood floors and down one flight of our stairs. All this caused recurring  trauma to her right ankle to the point she can barely walk without a cane.

We hope the knee repair will stabilize her leg so that her footsie doc can help her heal her right ankle so she can get back to her gym routine. So Mom L will not be able to help me keep my blog post going for about two to three weeks.

We have also been finding more dumped kittens, weighing only one to two pounds each at  our city park colony where our Delta View Cats nonprofit feeds a small colony. These kittens come to Mom L and Dad P to find solutions to what happens to them. Our county animal services will not intake them and guarantee an adoption path. The county shelter has adopted the “Capacity for Care” cat sheltering protocols and either do not intake friendly adults/kittens or if they do, they will euthanize them rather than try to find a foster for them.

So far, we have had eight pass through my castle over the last three weeks. They spend decompression time here and then Mom L moves them on to fosters with our partners at Community Concern For Cats.

I promise to share photos once Mom L is back at our laptop. Now Mom L will tell the “SADS” in my castle

Mom L here—please forgive Savannah for not being around for a while. She explained my physical health challenges. However, this week,  our family took on a blow that almost crippled Dad P and me.

Our precious, soft, snuggly Sage aka TKS, has terminal large cell lymphoma. If she can tolerate the chemotherapy she may have four months. If she cannot, then maybe four weeks.

Dad P and I are simply gutted! Dumbstruck! We know sweet Savannah aka Nana has been in our hospice care for almost two years. We never dreamed we will lose eleven year old Sagie first. I cannot say more. I will tell more some time later.

Please forgive Savannah for going missing for a few weeks. We both hope we can be back once I can sit and write on the laptop.

Send comforting purrs to our beloved Sagie. We know she cannot be healed. And rest assured, Peter and I will not allow Sagie to suffer, not for one moment.

PAW PATS, SAVANNAH

Devastated to hear this about Sage. I remember meeting her and her offering to visit by sitting on our suitcase. What a sweet girl she was and, honestly, I always think if her as a youngster!

I hope your operation goes OK and I know whatever happens you will do the absolute best for Sage. She is a wonderful girl and a totally wonderful cat and no cat could be better loved than she is. This is so bloody unfair and you deserve so much more of her.

Sending all of you, kitties and Humans, many purrs, much love, and all our very best thoughts in these difficult days. Thankfully, darling Sage is content in your love and care. It is a gift that kitties are not built to be worried or fearful of the future. They are creatures of the Now, and her Now with you is safe and warm and protected. I hope there are many good and loving days to come. And Linda, I am sorry to hear you have been struggling with your knee, etc. Sending you all good wishes that the operation will fix the problem and set you on a good path to better days with your knee and ankle! I know very well how scary falls can be in our “golden years,” Ugh!

Oh, dear friends, we are heartbroken to hear this sad news about TKS. We have always had the softest of spots for her in our hearts. Sending love and purrs for her, and for you. And special ones for Mom L, too, with that operation. XO

I am sorry sweet Sage has a devastating diagnosis. I will be praying the chemo buys you months. XO

  11. Sending you love, hugs and lots of prayers

  12. Purrs and prayers for sweet and dear Sage, we fell for her when we first saw that adorable face. I know that gutted feeling all to well. I hope your surgery goes smoothly and that you are doing better soon Linda.

p.s. You need to petition the county to remove the word “shelter” from that place. Killing does not equal shelter.

  13. I’m so sorry. Sending big hugs to you all and to sweet Sage.

  15. So sad about Sage. And another surgery for Mom L is not exactly a picnic either. We will say prayers for all of this to go as simply and painlessly as possible. We have no doubt Sage is in the right place and in the best hands. Good luck with the knee and ankle. Know that prayers and healing thoughts will be sent your way every day till we hear that you are recovering like a champ. xoxo

    Love and licks,

  16. What devastating news about Sage. I’m so sorry to hear this. 😦

We are so sorry to read this about Sage ! We send purrayers and POTP to her and to all your family, and prayers to Mom as she faces her own health challenges. Extra love and snuggles to all from across the country in Ohio.

  18. We are sorry to hear this! We are sending lots of hugs and tons of purrs from us; for Sage, for your Mom L to have a successful procedure and a rapid recovery, and for those poor abandoned kitties.

  19. We are so very sad to hear about The Kid Sage, we remember when she first came to live with you. We are sending her lots of love and healing and comforting purrs. Mom Linda, we hope your knee surgery goes well and you make a speedy recovery and purrs for all the kittens that pass through your castle and need your help so much. Thank you for helping them.

  20. Indeed this news is sad and troubling. One crazy question: do the furries get dewormed regularly? I ask this because I’ve been researching various types of cancer for years and have noticed that in humans, those who get cancer diagnosis all seem to also have parasites….. I’ve also read a few papers about the combination of detoxing and parasite cleanses being effective for humans. Surely that should also translate to pets!

  21. I am so sorry to hear this news. Cancer sucks. I have lost at least 9 of my cats to various forms of cancer. Most seem to be lymphoma. Sending Reiki light to you all.
    Cats of Wildcat Woods

  22. We are so sorry to hear about Sage. Raz had lymphoma so we understand. We chose not to do the chemo. We do know other kitties who have lived quite a while with/without chemo.

  23. We are so very sorry to read about TKS. A friend of ours had a black kitty girl with lymphoma who did really well with chemo, and we hope the same will be true for Sage.

And we send lots of good wishes for the human surgery. #1 tells us that knees suck.

    Purrs,
    The Chans

  24. We are absolutely gutted! We cannot find the words to say how heartbreaking this news is. All we can do is pray that sweet Sage will not suffer. We know you will not let that happen.
    Purraying for all of you.

  25. Sending lots of purrs and hugs that Mom L’s surgery goes well. And we are so sad to hear the news about Sage. LCL is a devastating diagnosis, but we have seen cats do well with the chemotherapy and live longer than the estimated life expectancy. We are hoping the same for Sage. There are a couple of good cat lymphoma groups on FB if you are interested. (((hugs and purrs))) ~Ernie and Sue

My comment will no longer be taken by WordPress . I wrote a long one. To say I am so sorry you are going through this physical trauma with your knee when you are so engaged in rescue and fostering…never mind the pain and physical trauma is an understatement. And the tragedy with Sage, I understand tat fully. Like you, my love s strong for my little ones as well and I will not allow suffering when they cannot be healed. Even though, as with you and Sage’s Dad Pete, it breaks the heart in two. Sending love and hugs to all of you.

  34. Oh my, we are so sorry. Sage is such a cutie and fun loving feline. But the life we have is pretty much determined, but it is how we live what we have that makes all the difference. Sage has a wonderful and happy home and family and care. That is truly the best gift we can give and share. Paws crossed for MOM L and the op. Gentle purrs for Sage and you all at this time.
