Feed Cats Raw with Easy to Serve Stella & Chewy’s® #chewyinfluencer

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

My long time readers know I, Savannah the Cat, am a connoisseur of raw chik-hen cat food. I totally luvluvluv my complete raw chik-hen. But I was totally up for this product review when Mom L asked me to get some variety in my diet.

I said sure thing. What’cha got for me? She then placed a bowl of Stella & Chewy’s® freeze dried, but reconstituted raw Duck Duck Goose food in front of me. Now she had warmed it up using warm water to make it soft, but kitties, I simply could not do it. I just had to walk away.

But not all is lost on our product review of this easy peasey way to feed kitties quality raw food. The Kid Sage stepped right up and took over this product review.

This is MY product and product review!

This is MY product and product review!

And let me tell you, she totally luvluvluv’d this freeze dried raw cat food. Now this is a really good thing for TKS. You see we just read in our new online e-newsletter from The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University that variety in a cat’s diet can be a good thing.

“A cat willing to eat only one kind of food will be much more difficult to support nutritionally when sick and must be fed a different diet to address his health needs. Some veterinarians are concerned that this practice of serving only one kind of food for years can actually contribute to the development of food allergies in cats or trigger inflammatory bowel disease.

Many experts recommend providing a rotating healthy diet for cats that consists of a variety of food brands and types (canned versus dry). They recommend switching food types and brands at least two to four times annually — as long as your cats are healthy and do not experience any digestive upset. Some cats accept this approach, but if your cat doesn’t eat the new food, do not force the issue by starving him.”

Now we just have to find something for me, HRH Savannah, to add variety to my chik-hen raw food diet.

But back to TKS for her review.

As you can tell from my enjoyment of this delish food, I, TKS the Cat, give this four paws up!

Delish dish!

If you want to hop over to the Stella and Chewy’s site to have a look at all the ingredients go right ahead. But let me tell you that the first five ingredients are gonna catch your attention. The first five ingredients are all raw duck, turkey and goose. The duck is ground with the bone which offers kitties a great source of taurine. I like their website because it gives you tips on how to transition your kitties from whatever they eat now to this new food. Go on over and have a look.

The freeze dried raw comes in several flavors including:

  • Chick, Chick Chicken
  • Sea Licious Salmon and Cod
  • Tummy Ticklin’ Turkey
  • Yummy Lickin’ Salmon and Chicken

All of these flavors are available from Chewy online. If you have never purchased anything from Chewy then you are in for a real treat. First they have great boxes, no matter how big or small!

Love the box

Next, they use all recyclable paper packing material. Even HRH Savannah enjoys a good play with their humongous paper packing!

YAY! Chewy packaging

Be sure to get right online and order from Chewy.com your favorite flavor of Stella & Chewy’s freeze dried raw food.

It’s Pet Blog Blooper Time Again!

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Time flies when you are have’in a really great time, right? And what cat doesn’t like to have a good giggle at the efforts humans go to just to get a good photo of us. I’m not gonna ever tell how many photos Mom L takes just to get ONE good one.

I am back again for the October Pet Blogger Blooper Round-UP. A fun easy to join animal blog hop hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull.

It’s usually enjoyable to share photos from any of our product reviews. My castle home is rather a dark place, not lots of natural light. We have been having a really nice Fall and the sun was shining and our living room had pretty good light, so Mom L set up the product in there. She had some canned food ready to get The Kid Sage to dive into the sealed pet bowl we were reviewing, so all looked good to go.

First shot, not too bad, right?

Where's the food Mom L?

Where’s the food Mom L?

TKS is a bit dark, but room light is manageable. Or so Mom L thought. All of a sudden, Ms. Sun was quickly covered up by a random set of CLOUDS!! Oh no!! The next photo shows ya just how dark it became in a nanosecond!

Hey! Who stole the sun? I can't see the food!

Hey! Who stole the sun? I can hardly see the food on my paw.

Mom L had to move the photo shoot into the kitchen with lights on to get it done. Not one of her finest photography moments.

How am I supposed to eat with the lid closed?

How am I supposed to eat with the lid closed?

Ya see, that is a motion activated sealed pet food bowl. So while Mom L was trying to get down on TKS’ level and get a close up, that lid kept on closing. That’s right, Mom L’s movement made it open and shut much to TKS’ frustration. As you can see, TKS was dang exasperated.

I thought this set of bloopers were particularly good. Not easy to do that photo shoot with camera in hand, lying on a kitchen floor and having that product open or close at the wrong time. And there is TKS waitin’ and waitin’ for her next chance at more food. Too much fun!

Wet Food That Never Dries Up #sponsored

HIYA! SAVANNAH HERE!!

Lots of you dine daily, sometimes twice a day, on yummy canned cat food. But if you are like me, and prefer to nibble here, nibble there—over a period of an hour or so, then you know that wet food can get downright dry!

In fact, research tells us that our cat guardians can waste up to a third of our wet food just because it dries out. And of course, what cat in its right mind wants to dine on dried out wet food. All that wasted cat food is a shame because first of all, there are community cats out there who could sure use that food and tossing it also costs our guardians as much as ten to fifteen green papers a month—per cat!

Mom L was really enthused when we were offered an opportunity to do a product test and review on a new to the market sealed pet feeder. SureFlap®, an award winning pet product specialist has recently introduced the SureFeed® Sealed Pet Bowl.

  • Suitable for both wet and dry food. Bowl capacity 400 ml or two pouches of wet food
  • Prevents flies settling on your pet’s food

  • 6 months battery life (4 x C cell batteries – not included). A low battery indicator will flash when the batteries need changing

This feeding bowl has motion sensors on three sides and is motion activated. So if there are two or more of you cats in your home, then this feeder allows all of you to munch from it. Unlike the microchip activated pet feeder by the same company, this one is not selective as to what cat can step up and dine.

This feeder learns—no, seriously! It can really LEARN—what motion it will allow to activate the food cover. It sets a certain distance to be allowed based on where you place it. Once it has learned all that, it is ready to keep your  wet cat food tasting yummy for many hours. You just paw up to have a bite and the lid opens almost totally quiet—

Now you can have your fill in peace and quiet—

—then when you turn tail and leave, that smart feeder bowl very quietly closes its lid and waits for you to come back later to reopen itself so you can have some more still moist, not dried out, wet food.

Check it out if you don’t believe me!

The SureFeed® Sealed Pet Bowl has a unique integrated seal to help keep food fresher for longer. It not only prevents wet food from drying out, but also reduces pet food odors in the home. And if you are a cat who likes to dine outside, this bowl will keep those pesky flies away from your food.

Mom L found this bowl easy to clean. The feeding bowl comes out easily and allows her to clean up the whole unit. And just to avoid being bored with the color of your food dish, there are other colors, even divided bowls, you can order. It comes with a gray dish which as we cats don’t see in color, worked just fine for The Kid Sage.

something is missing here

The Kid Sage was our product tester. Mom L really appreciated the smart “training settings” she could use to get TKS used to having her food dish open and close right in front of her. Of course, that did not bother TKS one bit.

How am I gonna get to that delish wet food?

How am I gonna get to that delish wet food?

However, the only caution I must give all my readers is this—if you happen to have a timid, cautious cat like me in your home, be very careful that this feeder doesn’t frighten them out of one of their nine lives.

I know I lost at least half of one of my nine lives when I walked past the feeder and it MOVED!! Mom L had it set up at TKS’ feeding space, but that is right near mine. I saw that thing move and I did not return to my regular feeding space for two weeks. Even though Mom L was following the training settings and it was only on the slightest movement setting, it still scared the heck out of me.

Of course, TKS had no problem with any movement as long as she could get to the food!

Whoa! that is so cool—guess I better get that bite before it closes up again

Whoa! that is so cool—guess I better get that bite before it closes up again

One of the most thoughtful parts in the design of this product is that the bowl size takes into account whisker fatigue for cats. The bowl is a generous 9 14(W) x 8 14” (D) x 2 78” (H), overall and 4 18(W) x 6 516” (H) x 1316” (D) on the inside. It is plenty flat and wide to keep even the most gloriously long whiskers from being crunched and feeling uncomfortable.

Now for the best part—SureFlap® agreed to allow me to GIVE AWAY one brand new SureFlap® Sealed Pet Feeder to one of my lucky readers.

Please tell me in comments if you want to be entered to WIN one of these awesome motion activated pet feeders.

Unfortunately, this product can only be shipped within the USA. The Give Away will run until Saturday October 1rst, 11:59PST. I will enter all names into Random.org and notify the winner via email. The winner will have forty eight hours to claim the pet feeder bowl. Failure to contact me will result in forfeiture of the product and a new winner will be chosen. I will announce the lucky winner on my blog post Wednesday, October 5th.
