Monday Meowsie New…Cousin Leo and Sailing???

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

First, I thought I hit the “schedule” button with my paw as I was closing up last night…but nope!  So I am a bit late this morning…oooppps…so here is my Monday Meowsie News…

DSC_3411

Bet you can’t figure out what “Cousin Leo” and “Sailing” have to do with anything…right???   And nope, Cousin Leo has not become another Bailey Boat Cat…heh…heh…

First, I know most of you have found your way over to my Cousin Leo’s new blog…Leo Land SV.  For those who may not know, Leo lives in what is known around the world as the “Silicon Valley”…that’s where like a ton of tech firms call ‘home’; so that’s what the “SV” stands for.

Leo has been having Dad Dave (DD) keep in touch with texts and emails and he has some photos sent along to make sure we know he is doing great.  I have already shared a few, but thought I would put ’em all together in one place..

…and here are a few from more recently…

So, Leo is really doing just great!

Now about the sailing part…Dad and Mom went to San Francisco, across the bay from where we live…to watch one of the races in the Louis Vuitton Cup which is part of the America’s Cup sailboat races happening in our bay this Summer and early Fall.

They watched the Luna Rosa team from Italy against the Artemis team from Sweden.  The Artemis Team was a sentimental favorite as they had crashed their original boat in May, killing one of the team members from Britain.  They had only 12 days with their new boat to get used to sailing it.  For those of you who are interested, click HERE to learn why these boats this year are so very different from others used in sailboat racing…and they are HUGE…72 feet!!

It was a fabulous day on the bay…so I asked Mom to share some of her photos…she FORGOT her camera…these were all shot using her iPhone!!…

Great day, wonderful weather…purrfect!  Oh, and they bought t-shirts MADE FROM PLASTIC BOTTLES!!! Cool huh?  And after they had lunch at an incredible vegetarian restaurant called “Greens“….yum yum…I know Rumpy’s human Jen and The Maple Syrup Mob’s Mummy Janey and Dad Chris would all have luvluvluv’d this place!!

Lastly, I was contacted by a really nice woman in the UK who is collecting data about the ways in which animal charities communicate with their supporters/potential supporters.  Mom and I completed her survey to help her collect data for her university dissertation…here is the linky to a short survey if you are willing to help her with her project…thanks lots in advance!

All that sea air and fun in the sun made me tired…

Wow–your Mom got some great shots! The Human and her friend went walking at Crissy Field one day several weeks ago and happened upon some America’s Cup practice runs–they could not believe how FAST the boats are–they move so fast it’s kinda hard to even get a picture! And Greens is a fantastic restaurant! Such a great view, too.

Leo is looking WONDERFUL–he and NDD are doing fantastic, aren’t they? Theirs is such a wonderful story that YOUR peeps made possible. You are looking very fine, Miss Savannah XOXOXOXO

  5. We love that Leo is doing so well! And those boat pictures were terrific … it looks like your mom and dad had a wonderful time, Savvy!

We filled out the survey for your UK friend. 🙂

  6. So happy to see Leo relaxed with DD we have been over to visit and he looks great! The pics look great and what a wonderful day mum and dad had Savvy! did they see Pickles escaping Al-cat-raz…..I am sure they must have!! heheheh and the restaurant sounds delish…have a great day sweet Savvy hugs Fozziemum xx

  7. Hi Savannah — thanks for the intro to Bailey Boat Cat —- my housekeeper asked me if I would like a nice life vest like the one he has. I doubt I need one to jump off the bed or sofa or table(s) or the panty shelf or the linen closet shelf …. She also asked me once if I wanted a pair of goggles like the ones Nerissa has. No to that too. If she wants to play dress up she should get a doll! The photo of Leo “after dinner” suggests that he has been eating ok since the move — extra good news. Your friend Dinah, RWB (reader without blog.)

  8. Looks like Leo has settled in to his new home really well.
    Lovely pictures of the boats.

  9. Leo looks like he’s really enjoying his new home. That makes us so happy.

And Savvy, it looks like your peeps enjoyed watching that sailing race, too. Those boats really can move, can’t they??

Leo does look great! So handsome he is there in his new home! Great pictures of boats and the water! Purrs…

  11. Thank you for sharing the photos of Leo. We’ve stopped by his blog. Our mommy grew up in SV; though, it wasn’t called that then. Daddy grew up in Piedmont. They both miss the bay very much. Our mom’s parents lived on a hill in San Carlos with a view from the Bay Bridge down to Stanford. They are both gone down, and she is sad that she will never enjoy that particular view again. Glad everyone had a great day. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • How nice your Mom and Dad know this area. It was not SV until the late 60’s when National Semiconductor moved its head quarters from Danbury CT to Santa Clara…that spawned the “silicon valley” era. National was a client of my Mom for 10 years in the late 80’s-late 90’s. Mom grew up in Santa Cruzand graduated from UC Berkeley! We luvluvluv living here! Glad you enjoyed the boat photos and views of SF Bay

      • Mommy grew up in Campbell, CA, and graduated high school in ’67. Both she and our dad graduated from UC Santa Barbara (see was originally accepted at UC Santa Cruz but decided it was too close to home) in 1971 and left CA the following year, never to live there again. Dad went to law school in Missouri, and they moved to VA in 1976. Mom is really enjoying getting to meet bloggers from northern CA. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo.

  12. Sailboat races are awesome. That looked like a blast! Leo looks comfy and relaxed. I’m glad he’s not sailing!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  13. How awesome that Leo is doing so well! BTW, his human registered at my blog, which is what the “fan status” thing is about. I keep meaning to set up fan-only features there, but so far the only thing I’ve got is the monthly downloadable calendars!

    • ohhhhhhh…well just happy Leo is gettin’ around blogville! Thanks for the Friskies give away Sparkle. I asked Mom if we can put it into the Hope Chest we are getting ready to create for Rachael and Ray Charles!

  14. We’re so glad to hear Leo is doing well.

  15. I am so happy for Leo I am beside myself…and I may have to whap me if I get too close!

    • LMFTO!! Well Brian, I am convinced this is gonna be just the outcome for Rachael and Ray Charles…we just need to get them past that vet check to know for sure what is going on with RC’s eyes and furrs…so we can let potential adopters know and so we know how much we need to raise for funds for their hope chest

  16. So happy that Leo is doing so well and I LOVE the photos of the race! How exciting! They all look so elegant even though they are real beasts! Hehe! Looks like you must have had a fantastic day! =^.^=

    • squee!! Bailey!!! I hoped you would see this post!! They are HUGE…72 feet this year compared to 45 feet last year!! Thanks to the design selected by the last winning team, ORACLE!! When they are sailing on all three foils, their hulls do not touch the water and they are so fast! We will go to the America’s Cup race against ORACLE team in the early Fall…if we can get tickets!

  17. It’s so nice to see Leo – I’m glad that he looks so happy with his DD. They boats look great! How funny that Prada wins the LV-cup LOL

    • yeah, one would think there was something going on…but actually…the Artemis really messed up right at the start point..they collided with Luna Rosa!! No damage, but the Artemis was in the wrong and so took a penalty of having to hold back TWO bloat lengths…that gave LR all she needed…it was a great day for the ‘rents!! And yes, Leo is doing so well; we haven’t heard from DD but hope he will call soon. paw hugs, Savvy

  18. Nice to see Leo looking so comfy and at home. In those first pics, he looked so scared and unhappy and now he looks so happy. He owns his Aunt and Uncle so much. Love the boat pics although I’d rather see my BFGF. There’s a pic of my new tunnel on my blog today.

  19. SO happy to see Leo in his element having his own servant to walk all over 🙂

  24. Mom says that sounds like a fun day (too much water for us)

  25. To bad that the swedish boat didn´t win 😦
Lovely pictures on the sailboats !
Looks like your mom and dad had a great day !
Fun to see picture on cousin Leo and that he is doing well in his own castle 🙂
    XOXO

    • I know Charlie R, we were yelling for them, but they made a HUGE mistake right at the starting buoy…they let their boat actually touch the Luna Rosa…and they had a really big time penalty which cost them the race. Those boats are HUGE

  26. We apologise to evfurry one because Mummy Janey is droooooling all over the keyboard after looking at Green’s menu.
Our peeps love sailing boats and ships, the sea and all that nautical stuff…but we loved seeing Leo all happy with his new daddy.
    The REAL Maple Syrup Mob
    xxxxx

    • I KNEW she would luvluvluv that menu!!! Mom forgot to take photos of all their plates before they dug in…she will send Mummy Janey the two of half eaten food! MOL They are not vegetarians, but Dad’s cousin and his wife are…and Dad and Mom are ready to go back for dinner they liked it so much.

  27. Fantastic photos of how well Leo and DD are doing … clearly DD has made a fantastic dad for Leo! Hooray!!!! =)

  28. Great photos your pawrents took of the sailboats…..AND how pawsome to get some updated Leo photos. He looks good – and we’re SUPER happy that he’s SUPER happy now as well. Have a restful Monday Savvy!
