No More Kittens: Thursday Purrsday

Last Friday Mom L was gone most of the day and she came home smellin’ just a bit as though she might have been cheatin’ on me and The Kid Sage…tsk, tsk, tsk…

You have been cheating!!

We both had several good sniffs of her shoes before she wiped them off.

She was off helping do something unmentionable to some very sweet unsuspecting kittens who were adopted during the famously successful Maddie’s Adoption Event in June.(click here to read about it)

I have collected evidence of who Mom L was helping out…and they were at that smelly icky place where the V-E-T does ‘you know what’ to get our temp reading.  You all know ‘where’ I mean.

The Evidence…

The back story to this special CC4C spay/neuter clinic is all about the kittens that were adopted during Maddie’s Adoption Day.  These little kittens had to weight at least 2+ pounds…and for a rescue to receive the Maddie’s reimbursement for spay/neuter…those adopted during the event must have this procedure within about 30 days.

Maddie’s Fund is committed to working toward a “No Kill USA” and they are making a difference.

CC4C has a pawsome partner in Dr Linda Miller, Cat Hospital of Clayton who provides her surgery for these clinics and Dr Josie Thompson, my former now retired DVM, who donates her expertise to ensure that CC4C continues to make progress on ….

We all luvluvluv kittens…however…all these kittens which CC4C rescues are born to mostly feral/stay Mom Cats and Dad Cats.  The solution to reducing so many kittens/cats being killed in shelters across the USA is to do everything a community can do to aggressively attack TNR for all feral populations.

Mom L and I are so very  humbled to be a very small part in this effort…can I ask that you…my readers…consider ways that you might also become actively engaged in making a NO KILL USA possible???

  1. Hi Savannah, what a wonderful post! So thankful the kittens were adopted. That’s great news. Did you know that in Australia we do ‘not’ have a trap, neuter and re;ease program? We work very hard not to have a stray dog or cat problem. When animals are seen out by themselves – especially dogs – they are quickly rescued and handed in to shelters. ‘She’ (Michele ) is an animal rescuer herself and an RSPCA rescuer too.
Thank you for joining us on our Thankful Thursday Weekly Blog Hop. Hope to see you each week. *waves paw* :=o)

Thank you to your mom for being a positive change for the babies.

  13. We are proud of your Mom for helping out and we shall always fight for no more killing!

  14. Hurray for your mum, not only playing with kittens but being amazing and making a real difference!!

  15. Thanks to Mom Linda and all the others that pawticipated in this. We have our mom do her best to catch stray cats, like Chip and Slim at the dad’s store, and have them neutered or take them to the shelter where they will be neutered and then put up for adoption. We also support our low cost spay/neuter clinic. We wish we could help them all…but we do what we can.

  16. Hi Savvy! Your Mom might have been “unfaithful” for the day with her work transporting those kitties but I think you should be very proud of her for helping out with such an important thing – insuring those kitties don’t contribute to the overwhelming problem of too many kitties and not enough homes. Bravo to her!

    Hugs, Sammy

  17. Paws up for no more unwanted kittens causing overpopulation. What a great cause for your folks to be a part of.

  18. You and your mom are doing good, Savvy! We are very thankful that our local shelter is a no-kill one and we try to support in our small way. A no-kill UK is our aim too 🙂 xoxox

  19. You have the bestest mom ever. And the no-kill campaign deserves all our support and our sharing. I t would be great to reach the goal till 2015 and maybe that’s the start that a lot of countries will follow.

  20. Look at your mum go!

  21. Pawsome that your momma helped out!

  22. Wowee, Mom L is such a wonderful person to help out with all that. Whee think you can forgive her just this once!

  25. Oh Savvy you Mom is the most wonderful person to help with this, give her a huge big snuggle from me and a hug from my mummy too,xx Speedy

  26. How cool that your human took part in this!

    • thank you Sparkle. I am very very proud of Mom L for doing this. It was not easy as there was one semi feral Momma Cat who was being spayed and her surgery did not go well. She was young but had scar tissue and the vet could not reach the last ovary and they had to finally close her up leaving one ovary in place which means she will always go into heat…can’t get pregnant…but open to repeated male aggression trying to mate with her, etc. Very sad. But at least she will be loving in a protected back yard and she sticks close to this yard now. She is very sweet and may be able to be inside one day

      • I am not happy with the usage of the word RAPE when concerning cats.

RAPE – (mostly human) sex to humilate the victim and to make the rapist feel better about his position and himself (also seen in Bonobos).

Cat-sexual-intercourse – sex to make more kittens, with rough behaviour on both sides (the female, even after calling the males, slashes out at the males, hisses and scratches and fights really dirty, the male who dares to have a go bites her into her neck to make her submissive so he can do what he has to do for the next generation – and he has to be really quick during that and afterwards)

I am not saying anything against neutering, reducing the number of ferale kittens is the best we can do! Just do not use the word rape everytime you talk about cats mating. That would humanize cats – and seriously, I think that would not do them justice!

  27. We are very lucky that in our community a woman works tirelessly to get grants and raise funds to spay and neuter cats and dogs of low income families and TNR of Cats. They helped with getting the stray Butters neutered.
