Managing Your Down Time

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

After a busy exercise routine including laps chasing the EIRD (Ever Illusive Red Dot) and paw whacking my peacock feather up, across and down our stairs, I need some down time. Wouldn’t you? I mean after we cats put in our time at the gym, why we not only need but we deserve time to cool off and get a good rub down.

Let me give you the FYI (For Your Information) about how I manage my down time. First up, I find my Dad P and give him a direct eye contact stare while uttering a strong assertive “mroowwww”. I wait to make sure he knows I am talking to him, then I lead him to the living room area rug and throw myself down right at his feet. This is just the start of how I manage my down time.

Ok Dad P, get to it!!

He knows I am waiting and he dare not leave my side. My fave way to cool off is to get my furs brushed. All that air coming through and the brush slips through my furs really helps get my heart rate back to its resting beat.

Ahhh—that’s it! Strong but gentle strokes please.

Now if I don’t manage my down time, then Dad P might get the idea that “he” can decide just how I ought to be rubbed down. No siree —I make sure he knows I am always in charge of managing my down time.

That’s enough with the back furs, now move on to my special spot

I have trained Dad P well and he knows not to mess with my decisions when it comes to just how I want my rub down and cool off to go. He gets my meaning and moves right to give me a gentle cranial brushing. Such a delight, don’t you think??

mmmmm….this is just what I needed

Some of you may think I am a tough task master with Dad P, but trust me, you simply cannot allow your humans to start thinking they can determine how you “ought” to spend your down time. You won’t get what you want if you don’t develop some very direct looks to let them know when their time is done.

Watch my next move

You see it’s all in the “look” to get you what you want. Humans are pretty easy to manage. All I have to do is give Dad P one look and he knows I’m done with his services.

Stop right there! You already did my back furs.

And there you have it. A little lesson on how to manage you down time to be sure you get what you want. As soon as I gave Dad P the “look”, he stopped with the brush and left me to give my freshly brushed furs a good kitty spit bath.

How do you manage your down time with your humans??

A Detente in My Castle

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

My first question, how many  times a week do you guys have a detente in your multiple animal castle? As for me, I have to have this ‘detente’ situation more than I want with TKS.

Today’s detente started with unmade bed. Mom L wanting a ‘cat nap’

As you can see, I was definitely Queen of the King size bed. TKS was not happy to be on the floor level stuck on the tossed aside electric blankie.  Purrsonally, I say phhfftt to her disappointment!

I am Queen of this King size bed. Tuff luck TKS

TKS was less than pleased, but then as I said before, that is her “tuff luck”!

Why can’ t I come up and join you Savvy?

Ok, ok, I know she has cute golden eyes and such a sweet face. BUT—I was HERE first!!

Ok kid, I get it that you wanna be “me”—not happening!

Finally TKS made the right move and chose to settle in elsewhere.

I have no choice. I must hold my ground and remain in the master bedroom!

You know this is her fall back position, right??

I am near the master bed, and no one can see me

Then Mom L arrived with her special blankie, spread it on the unmade bed. Guess who took advantage as fast as a house panther can be??

Sweet !! Now I am ON THE TOP!!

What can I say—I held my ground and let TKS have her day as the Top Cat!

I WON!!!

Do you ever have a detente moment in your multiple animal castle??? Let me know how you handle it in comments. I sure could use some advice!!

Do You Luv Sun Puddles Like Me?

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I am hav’in a heck of a time keeping up with my travelin’ sun puddles. How about you? Are you in luv with your sun puddles like me? I’d go just about anywhere just to get a good sun puddle nap. Our last rental home hardly had sun puddles at all. But by golly I found this one, remember? And I had to climb through Mom L’s computer cables and then behind our printer stand to get this little spot of sun that shined on a narrow window sill for about an hour in the Spring and Summer.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Now I have so many easy peasey places to have sun puddle naps, but I am chasin’ around the house as Miss Sun moves about in the sky with the seasons. I’ve even been known to get to my sun puddle spot BEFORE Miss Sun gets there!

Nope, the sun hasn’t shown up just yet, but she will

Once she shows up, Nanuk and I have a wonderful time basking in the glory of her warmth.

ahhhh—this is the life, right Nanuk?

But like always, somebody always shows up to disturb our hours of bliss.

Who invited you? There is only enough room here for us.

Sometimes I like to just stretch out so’s my whole body gets the heat treatment.

Top half first, then I’ll flip to get the bottom half.

Other times I like to let Miss Sun know how much I am enjoying her and I kind’a wave at her to let her.

Hey Miss Sun!! Can you see me? Do you know I luv you?

Again, somebody has to show up and intrude on my joyful greetings.

Not you again! How many times do I have to say “move on”??

And of course, I have now found Miss Sun is shining her lovely warm heat on the day bed in Dad P’s office. So I am now claiming that spot all for myself.

Zzzzzzzzz

Now you tell me, are you chasing sun puddles with this new time adjustment and whatnot? Miss Sun sure does make it a challenge when she starts reacting all crazy like with the changes in the seasons too.
