Monday Meowsie News: I Am Getting Braver
I must still be in a “thank you” mood…’cuz I got to thinking after being honored with so many awards and all in a week…I thought, I outt’a acknowledge how much my bloggy, Facebook and Twitter furriends have done to help me move forward on my recovery process.
So then I got to thinking about how I am getting braver…
- I come when Mom and Dad call me for brekkies…so now I get to eat at my feeding station, not in the bedroom…and I let Mom pet me when I eat (just a little)
- I let Dad stand by me when I eat my brekkies
- I let Dad walk past me when I am sun puddling on my stairs and I don’t even run
- I let Mom lay her head on my shoulder…I never used to let her get her face anywhere near me
- Mom can even touch my tummy sometimes…not too much mind you
- Just yesterday, Mom picked me up…I struggled a lot…but once she put me down, I did not shy away from her at all!
…Mom touching my tummy..she says it is realllllly soft…purrr
…having brekkies at my feeding station…Dad is taking the photo…but he is right by me…
So for some of you out there this may not be big news, but for a 5 year old cat who lived for a year hiding in a cat cubby bed at a shelter…this is HUGE BIG PROGRESS IN BEING BRAVE!!
In 6 months, thanks to all of you and Mom and Dad…I have gone from looking like this…my intake photo at the county shelter in December 2010…
…to looking like this…
…pretty brave don’t ya think?!!! Not to mention way more relaxed. So thanks to efurryone for getting me this far…and I have way farther to go…but nice to have furriends support along the way.
Now one last thing…
I don’t really get to appreciate some of my Twitter feline friends so let me give a big shout out to 2 Twitter pals who have been so supportive of me, @MrTibbsAP and @IAmSmittyKitty. They always encourage me and never forget to say HI on Twitter…play bows with crossed paws in thanks to them.
And some of my totally cool Twitter pals are my Sibe/Husky/Mal pals! Dad and Mom once had Siberian Huskies, like 3 of them and they showed them and trained them and Mom went a couple times sledding etc. Anyways, I like to hang with the Sibes some on Twitter and they ALWAYS let me know when I am being brave…and of course, I have my stuffed Sibe pal who does Am and Pm patrol duty at the front door window, my Nanuk.
So here are my huge paw pats and hugs to my Twitter Sibe/husky/Mal pack: @RumpyDog, @SiberianForrest, @ra_husky, @dieselhusky, and @khumbusibe. You guys always let me know when I have been brave…play bows and woo woos to you all.
Whew…lots of words so now I need a nap…Paw pats to all, Savannah

yay Auntie Savannah!
oh no… I did it again… Big Bwother is gonna be mad at Satchie
You tell big bro Jay that Auntie Savannah doesn’t mind…you are just learning
Pwease don’t tell Big bwother Auntie Savannah. It was not Satchie’s fault. New lappy doesn’t like Satchie… 😦
Oh sweetheart…no prob…your mishap is safe with me…lips zipped…and ya just need to learn how to work the keyboard slowly…as you little paws grow it will get harder…just watch how fast ya hit that ‘enter’ key…Paw pat just for Satch…Auntie Savvy
…thanks lots Jay…I keep on trying
Your before and after photo brought a tear to my eye. I’m so happy that you have a home.
you are too kind! Dad and Mom both pretty much hate that photo…but it is how I looked when they met me…but they saw right past that look and knew it was terror, not being ‘mad or mean’ like some of the peeps tried to label me. Whew, thank goodness Dad likes the undercat and he found me hiding in a cat cubby bed…and the rest is history…
I say, Savvy, it took Austin quite a while to trust me with his tummy tickles, but now he even asks for it! You keep on keeping on xx
that’s so good to hear…’cuz if I don’t think about it…I like it…as soon as I think about it and whip around to see whats tickling my tummy…I sort’a freak!
Hi Savannah…….wow…..those “before” and “after” photos tell the story my friend. You looked so sad and alone at the shelter and just look at you now! Feeling safe – finally – and knowing that your parents are humans you can TOTALLY trust, has allowed you to blossom and begin to become the cat you were meant to be. You look 100% different now than you did. LOVE does that you know! Looks like you’re getting more and more friends too! I don’t do the twitter thing and I don’t have a facebook page, but I sure do enjoy having friends and I know you do too. You really are one brave girl……….
Kitty hugs, Sam
Sammy, Sammy…again…you are so encouraging to me! Thanks buddy. And I know I look so different now from that intake photo…but the memories of the cat in that photo still exist and I KNOW you totally get what I am saying. And I have to tell you Sammy, my staff is having a tuff time keeping the FB and Twitter stuff all goin’…and I like my bloggy and my Twitter Pawties the most…so I don’t do much of anything with FB except have my bloggy post shared on it. sigh…don’t know how all these anipals keep all that and more social media going. (Savvy’s Mom here…June…it is exhausting trying to keep all 3 going, and forget Pinterest and other sites, Yikes! I am supposed to be retired! This is a job as you well know…I have to sort out priorities soon…) Savvy back to say paw pats
Thank you for following me. I am following you through Blogger’s follow rather than through e-mail, as it’s easier for me. See you soon.
Oh Karen, what is ‘bloggers follow’?? ‘Cuz my email is getting pretty hefty to manage. Any advice on how you manage would be great and please do stop by and leave a comment again soon, paw pats, S
Oh, miss Savannah! That’s awesome! So happy for you =^.^=
Hey Jay…thanks! Being brave doesn’t come easy to me…but with help from furriends like you, I keep on tryin’, paw pats, Savvy
I think you don’t give yourself enough credit!
I shudder just to think of your harsh life before your forever home 😦
it was tuff Jay…but I know I am not the only adult rescue cat who had a harsh time of it…and others had it so much worse! And…so many with no homes but the streets and woods or garbage dumps…toally not safe nor healthy…sigh…
Hey Miss Savannah – you are one impressive cat =^..^=
Things are going great guns for you. That photo of you with that soft furry tummy is our fave 🙂
MOL that is Mom’s fave too!
You are just getting braver and braver. I think you are making great progress. You have great people to be so patient with you and help you so much. Oh, and I am pretty sure that you can follow the Cat Blogosphere. I don’t follow it because I make sure I check it every day I’m on the computer.
Hiya! I just hopped over to your bloggy and followed you, hope you can follow back! Thanks so much for stopping by, paw pats Savannah
Hey! You gotta dog that looks just like me! That is so cool! And of course you are very brave! You are a hero!
ahhhh…Rumpers…you are always my hero!! you were one of my firstest furriends in the bloggy world! I just try to be brave like you…’cept of course for THE HOOVER sucky thingy!!!
Awww Savvy, that was a very moving post. I’m glad that you’re feeling more comfortable with your human family. They seem to be wonderful people.
You’re being indeed very brave. Way to go and concats!
Texas, without all the furriends I have found on blogging, Twitter and FB, we, me and Mom and Dad…would have had a far harder time of it…I am pretty hurt in my heart and soul…but I am so happy to be in this home and they are so happy to have me…we all got the best deal ever!!!
We’re so glad you’re getting so brave!
ooh hi guys!! thanks for stopping by…and yes, I am getting more and more brave!
Way to keep on trying, Savannah kittie. Sometimes, it takes a while before you can control the ‘runaway, quick’ reflexes. Not every bean is out to grab you or chase you away, and you seem to have gotted some beans willing to work with you.
yep…my peeps are totally up for the job…that is why they are ‘failed foster parents”…MOL they realised after only 4 weeks that I was a ‘work in progress for about a year’ and so they would have to get FBI checks on any peep who wanted me MOL again.. so they officially adopted me!!! YES!!
Savannah, we are glad you are getting braver!!
Bet you are starting to enjoy yourself too 🙂 heehee

Tiger,Treasure and JJ
hey guys! I just followed your blog and hope you will follow me too. Thanks so much for stopping by. And yes, I have many good day as opposed to not so good days
I am so proud of you and that is such amazing progress! I keep missing you on twitter but I will keep looking!
Ohhh. Remind me what your ‘handle’ is? I totally miss tweeting…have been remiss in hangin out there…probably won’t get back til Mom has her next ‘get away’….seriously, she does this way tooooomuch
you should be so proud of the progress that you are making!! I think your Mom and Dad have to be exceptional people to make you feel so safe and secure so soon!!!! ((((hugs)))) to all!
oh Cody and Dakota ( and Caren)…you guys are just too nice! And we do think we have made good progress given it has only been 6 months that we have been together…our biggest challenges are my letting even Mom pick me up and my being OK being with Dad more and more…sigh
Awww you are geeting so brave. Whee love those pigtures. You look so much calmer. Whee think that you must be the bravest cat in the blogosphere for improving so much.
Whee love hearing about what you are up and look forward to one day seeing you as the relaxed kitty you deserve to be. Keep up the good work 😉

Hiya Guys! Happy Jubilee!! So sorry it rained on the Queen’s boat parade! But what the heck, it is the UK and efurryone has brellies, rigth??!! I could not do this without piggies like you guys…be seeing you in the Fall!!! So excited that Mom will come home with piggtures of all of you!! YES!!!
You certainly are getting brave! I’ve been here 6 years and still won’t let my peeps touch my tummy. TW used to pass a house with that exact Husky hanging on the front porch. I guess they figured bad guys wouldn’t know it was a stuffy and stay away. Keep being brave!
HiCathy! So happy to have you drop by again! And it helps me to gauge my progress to learn how cats like you still have challenges…we try every day to moveme forward with little paw steps
Hi, Savannah. Besides being thrilled at your progress, I loved reading all your thank-yous. Isn’t it something? I always feel very humble (that might not be a cat emotion, come to think of it – ???) when I start thanking everyone. Maybe for Your Royal Highnesses in the cat kingdom, it’s more a clean feeling than a humble feeling. Or maybe it’s a happy feeling! I’m glad you have so many thank-yous.
Oh HiSusan…I luvluvluv hearing from you! I know you are very busy…’cuz i can tell you are somewhere that involves education by your email…so thanks so much for checking in on me…and i am doing better and better tho’ I still have many things to work on…and yes…I am very humbled by having so many peeps and cats and dogs care about me…I had to find a way to say thank you for more than just the “awards” I was being given.
Hi Savannah
