Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Sharing My Mom and Dad…

Hiya! Savannah Here!

You all know I am a Momma’s cat…no shame in that…and I love my Dad too…but Mom and I are like tied at the heart for sure! Me to her and her to me…really nice…

…I trust Mom and Mom trusts me…

…to snuggle with Mom and be snuggles by Mom…the best!…

…Mom is relaxed when she touches me and I relax at her touch…

Anyways, for the next 10 days I am gonna have to share not only Dad, but Mom.  We have my Auntie Claudia with us now, and then next week a former consulting colleague is coming to visit with Mom.  Her name is Easter…isn’t that the nicest name??!!

Auntie Claudia was here last Christmas right about when Mom and Dad were still fostering me.  I liked her then and let her touch me.  And this morning, I actutally got back in bed with Mom and Auntie Claudia while they shared the newspapers and catching up on each other’s lives.

See, they have this routine when she comes to visit…Dad gets up (and of course feeds me FIRST THING!) and gets Mom’s and Auntie Claudia’s coffee.

Then Dad sits in the chair next to the bed, and Auntie Claudia comes down and climbs in with Mom…then they all 3 watch the morning news, share newspapers and visit…they laugh lots, and catch up.  Auntie Claudia is Mom and Dad’s adopted god-daughter.  She is only 37 years old and she used to pet sit my” before me” cat brothers and sister when they lived in Southern California.  That is where Auntie Claudia still lives.

So…I was pretty much left alone most of yesterday, what with doing their volunteer cleaning work at Kitty Corner, then collecting Auntie Claudia at the airport, then they met up with Miss Chrissy…she manages Kitty Corner where I was living when Mom and Dad found me.

They all went to something last night called a “Niner’s Game”…not sure what it was all about…but based on the photos, I think they had a spectacular (vocab builder project VBP) time!!

That’s Auntie Claudia in front, then Miss Chrissy and then MOM!…they are wearing a bunch of San Francisco 49’ers gear…that’s an NFL football team here in the USA in case no one else know that…I CERTAINLY DID NOT…and still don’t really care…’cuz they left me home alone….hangs head, covers eyes with paws…sniffle, sniffle…

Now I am taking my nap in my Bird Watching Tower…and they are all going somewhere…Mom thinks it is good for me to learn to have someone visit…she thinks I need to ‘get used’ to other people…and I ask “why???”…just sayin’…

Hope you all have a great Friday and an especially wonerful weekend…

  1. I’m not too much of a fan of newcomer humans either, especially when they steal time with my human from me. But your Auntie seems nice =^.^=

Oh, sweet Savannah we think that sounds like a fun time for all of you. When they are all there you just jump right in with them whatever they are doing. Then when they leave you catch up on your napping and be ready to jump in for more fun with them when they get back. Hope you all are having a terrific weekend. Hugs and nose kisses

  3. Hey Savvy, Jetty here. Hi Miss Linda.

As your Champion, I must agree with Miss Linda. The more the merrier! Think how many extra ear scratches, toys (visitors often bring gifts!), playtimes, snuggle times, new scents – Savvy it’s a gold mine!

Mom needs to have playdates too, and spectator sports is just the ticket. Everyone looked like they had a bunch of fun, whoo hoo!

  4. You are learning, Savannah, that peeps can be to our advantage. Lots of treats and scritches 🙂
    love, Austin >^,,^<

  5. Hi Savannah…..I’m the same way with strangers. I like to have my parents ALLLLLLL to myself. But my Mom has said before that if I’d had more “socialization” when I was younger, I’d probably be “easier” around other people now. I’m not so sure…..all I know is I do love having them right here where they belong with nobody else taking them away from me! It does sound like THEY are having fun though with company – and we want our parents to be happy – so just grin and bear it….right?

  6. We aren’t fond of strangers either. We don’t mind Grandma and Grandpa (Mommy’s parents) coz they build us our catio but everyone else, to them we say, STAY AWAY!

  7. I love visitors in my crib!!! Enjoy it!!! btw: my neighbors name is Noël (christmas) :o)))

  8. We think eventually you’ll find the more the merrier when it comes to ear scratches and playtime. Got to get used to it first. Sounds like they had a grand time. You had a chance to catch up on some zzzzds 😉

  9. Sounds like a busy time at your house. But if you play it right, you can get lots of extra scritches and treats. Good luck, Savannah!

Well, she *looks* pretty nice, but still….I do not care for Introodurs.

Oooh, they went to the Niners game?!? It was kinda a blowout, huh? But the kid did okay. The Human hasn’t been to a Niners game in a long time–she used to go sometimes back when Joe was in his heyday 😉 Her sport is baseball though and she’s got lotsa fingers and toes crossed for the Giants to make the play-offs, though she expects they’ll get creamed pretty fast.

Sorry savannah, she kinda took over for a minute there. *I* don’t care about any of that stuff. I just don’t know how you can allow introodurs to ::shudder:: touch you.

  11. Visitors mean more pets and treats!! What fun!!

  12. It is so nice to get company and you are such a good hostess sweet Savannah!

Me loves it when company comes too! Wes don’t gets enough for Kozmo to figure it out. He hides. Enjoy your company!

  14. Except for the dog and dogs are just strange that way. We do not like visitors. Most people don’t even know Mom & Dad have cats cause we hide when they come over. ~Scylla

  15. Hey, we like to think that more peeps in the house means more ops for petting and maybe even treats.

  16. Sometimes other people are nice, sometimes they offer treats! sometimes they offer scritches! Sometimes they have nice laps to nap on. Just sayin’.

  17. Savannah
Sounds like you are gonna have another hooman to give you lots of nice pats.
we hope that your Mom has a super nice visit with Auntie Claudia.

I think you will be able to share after reading your blog today:) Easter is a beautiful name:) Nose kisses sweet Savannah:)

  19. As long as you’re not having to share your peeps and home with another animal, all is good. TW’s team is the 49ers! She’s loved them since Joe Montana. Of course, she also likes the Giants too.

  20. Just remember, it’s a whole ‘NOTHER peep to wait upon your every need, Savvy…now’s the time to get that list out and make requests!

  21. WOW! You are brave, most of us hide when people come. Sometimes we peep when they are geting ready to go..we are making sure they don’t take Mum and Dad with them. Once Mum’s mum and dad came to stay and after three days we all came out of hiding..and we let them touch us!!!!

  22. Try not to think of it as you having to share your mom but rather, as your mom having to share you. How does that sound? To me, it sounds like extra hugs and extra kisses and extra petting and extra treats and extra extras…. etc… Sounds pretty good when you think of it like that, huh? purrs

Waving paw...HI!...what'd 'cha think...??
