Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Monday Meowsie News…An Idea and Update

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Today is a national holiday here in the USA….the humans call it “Labor Day”. This morning while we were reading blogs in bed,  I asked Mom to look that up on our iPad and read to me about why the humans need a day like that…all to themselves

IMG_0144

…here is what she found…

“Labor day In the US, Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.”

…and now I ask “Why don’t we cats have one of those days just for us??”

After all, whether or not you are an indoor or outdoor feline…you WORK!!…you LABOR!!…the humans cannot keep inside nor outside our homes in proper order without our constant and vigilant snoopervision, day and night we labor! We have Kings, Queens, Rulers of the World and all of us have duties to perform all day, every day…tirelessly…

Cat Labor Day

Got it?! So where on the calendar is OUR CATABOR DAY???

Just this morning I was doin’ research on impawtant stuff…I was finished reading the newspaper and had my breakfast tray ready for Dad to take downstairs…I was catimplating what Mom was reading to me…

IMG_0206

Then I had to focus on the TV Sunday morning news; there was a lot for me to think about so I was watchin’ it very, very closely…

IMG_0209

Now I needed to really get to work…so I collapsed into my most strenuous working position…this position is difficult…but I had a lot to think about so’s I could get to workin’ on impawtant things…

IMG_0208

It was an exhausting morning of work…as you can all see…and so I ask again…where is our CATABOR DAY???

AND NOW SOMETHING YOU WILL LUVLUVLUV…COUSIN LEO!!!!!!!!!!!

…Dad and Mom visited Cousin Leo Sunday…he greeted with only a bit of reserve…(hover over photos for captions and click to bigify…you are gonna want to make a couple humongous to see how gorgeous Leo’s mane has grown back)

Remember when Leo first came to our home trying to survive hepatic lipidosis?…He was so very ill, almost ready to run to The Bridge…

…Look at some BEFORE and AFTER photos…

…remember when he had that feeding tube in his neck?…and his front legs were shaved as well as his mane on the left???

Leo is alive, thriving and loving living with Dad Dave…be sure to visit his blog, click HERE.

All of you made Leo’s current life pawsible…thank you from my whole heart…and Dad Peter and Mom Linda each also thank you from their whole hearts…I will always proudly display my Leo Badge…furrever…

pawticipated save Leo

Be sure to come back tomorrow for my SPECIAL POST about something I am going to ask efurryone to do to help RAY CHARLES and RACHEL find their furrever castle…and NO…I am not going to as for anything tangible…come back and see purrlease…

Well already have International Cat Day, Cat Domination Day, World Cat Day and Internet Cats Day but I agree that we need more. It’s so good, seeing Leo healthy and thriving! Did he even remember your peeps?

    • YES!!! CK…he immediately clearly ‘sniffed’ leaning toward them…then came right to them!! He even waited outside the “human litter box” when Dad Peter had to ‘go’…he loved FD Peter lots…so yes, Leo remembered…and he is so loved

We don’t think it would be hard at all to have one day a week dedicated to all us impawtant kitties doing all our impawtant things, do you? Looking good, Leo! Looking very, very good! Purrs…

  7. Savannah, PLEASE don’t think so much —- you may throw your back out if you do that final thinking pose too much. Your folks will just have to hope they can manage on their own without your deep thoughts! Leo looks wonderful; so glad he found not just a castle but one with a trained staffer. Your friend Dinah, RWB (reader without blog.)

  8. Savannah, we hereby grant you a Catabor Day tomorrow for all your hard work. And just for good measure, you can have the rest of the year for your total relaxation.

    Cousin Leo looks fabulous.

  11. We’d like to slack off for a day but just thinking about Mommy and Daddy running amok, unsupervised for 24 hours–it’s just too terrible. We can’t do it!

    Leo looks so HAPPY now!

  12. Leo is doing so great! I am so happy for him and his human! I wish I could figure out new, original ways to help Ray and Rachel find a home. I know it will happen for them, but I want it to be sooner than later.

    • Sparkle, I am going to ask efurryone, tomorrow, Tuesday, to download a flyer we made and take it to their own vets, shelters, rescues, pet food stores, Starbucks, etc…anywhere they can post it…hoping we can get outside the blogosphere and social media to find them a home. After that, if still nothing, then Brian and his dad Terry have one more strategy up their fur…wish someone would realize they are missing out on watching them grow up…and that these two are gonna be soooooo super special…having survived the beginning of their lives.

  13. its great the way things work out for the best, happy Labour day,xx Speedy

  14. Wow, Leo looks grrrrrrrrrrrreat. We just stopped by there to post a comment and let him know how terrific he looks. Big wags to everyone that helped make this happen. And, Savannah, you’re too cute for comment. wag wag, Max & Bella

  15. Savannah I’m so happy about Leo, sometimes the world is just fabulous! I agree, we need a catabor day and a dogabor day, maybe every month?

  16. Savannah you are responsible for helping save Leo life. That is a tremendously generous and awesome thing you did. And now just look at him, he is glorious and he has a wonderful forever home. This is a fairy tale with a very happy ending.

  17. Aww sweetie, that Leo is one very handsome dude and we’re so happy he has a wonderful home and that your humans get to see him now and then. Will anxiously await your news tomorrow. Happy Labor Day.

  18. I saw that picture of me… labourin’ with my time-space continuum work. Hehehe…

One question Savvy. If we cats all took the day off from our various supervisory work and whatnot… Do you think the world would survive? I mean… the peeps need SO much help!

    Purrs,
    Nissy

  19. Savannah, you are so right! And we pups should have a doglabor day tooowooowoooo! I work so hard being protector! I keep watch over Mama and my kitties, and I make sure I pee over Nalle’s pee so no polar bears will track her down! It’s daily work with no breaks ever! Labor Day for pets I say! Wooooowooooo, Ku
p.s. we are gearing up to be back in the blogosphere after our break, so I will send those interview questions and answers to you soon! Thank yoooowooowooooo! Ku

  20. I totally agree the platoon is constantly working for homeland security and deserves recognition. Checkup website. And hoooooahhhh for Leo !!!

  21. I don’t think they have any idea how much work we do for them!

  22. Savvy, it’s so great to see Leo doing so well! After everything he’s been through, he deserves much happiness! We’re glad he’s find that.

Happy Labor Day….or Catabor Day…but seriously, we don’t think us cats work much. 😉

  23. You must be so proud of your parents nursing Leo back to health. He looks fabulous and happy in his new home, and it’s great that they are still able to visit him. He’s such a lucky cat to have had their help, and Ray and Rachel are lucky to have you helping keep them in the spotlight, too.

  24. We will try to come back tomorrow, but it may be more like Wednesday. Mommy says she has a full schedule tomorrow. We don’t see how as we looked on her calendar and she is going to be gone most of the day. We are sure she is sneaking off to goof off, who is going to open doors for us, get our food down, etc. ~Scylla

  25. Yeh, we need our own day,We mean, just look how exhausted you are from all that thinking and contemplating!!
Leo is looking very handsome isn’t he??
The REAL Maple Syrup Mob xxxxx

  26. Handsome Leo always, always makes us smile sweet one!!!

  27. Savannah, the hard work your pawrents and you put into giving Leo his life back and finding him a home with NDD was enough to give you Catabor Week. We think you should pick any week you want, just lie back and take it easy. We’ve been watching Leo’s progress and are so happy for him. Can’t wait to see what you have up your paw for Rachel and Ray. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Msuricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Waving paw...HI!...what'd 'cha think...??
