Savannah's Paw Tracks

Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Guard Cat

Hiya, Savannah here again.

Last night, I was just hangin’ in the bedroom with Mom watching some TV…I watched mostly and she read her Kindle thingy.

Then I heard something outside…on the deck…so I dashed up to Mom and tried to tell her…

…but she wouldn’t put that catgone Kindle down…so I had to go inspect for myself…Mom had left the slider door open, the one right next to our bed…and I was concerned that something was trying to get in to hurt her…

…I sniffed to find out what it was…then more noise…I looked back at her and asked “can’t ya hear it now????”…

..again, she won’t put down that Kindle…back to checking it out ‘cuz I can still hear it…

Finally, the noise stopped…and I knew I had saved Mom from some awful threat outside…thank goodness she has me to watch her back, huh??!!

Well, then I hopped up on the bed and snuggled down with her and purred some while she kept on reading…never knowing that I had risked life and limb to guard her…oh well…purrrrr….yawn….stretch….zzzzzzzzzz

  1. MOL! Those humans can be soooo clueless, can’t they?

  2. VERY impressive Savannah! Guard duty is one of our scarier assignments when we’re taking care of/watching out for our humans so you did really well to be brave enough to check it out and warm your Mom. If she didn’t get up to see what it was she must have just KNOWN that you would protect her no matter what and she felt safe. YAY! That’s great. Concatulations on being a first rate guard kitty!

  3. Miss Savannah, your mom is VERY lucky to have you!

  4. Very brave! But I have to ask (more curious about this then what was outside even) what on Earth were you watching on the screen? Some kind of mutant sock puppet parrot?

  5. we cats really have it hard! No one listens to us, they just keep doing what they are doing! What was out there anyway?

    • ohhh…probably wildlife…we have outdoor cats that like to hunt birds on our deck, or mice…those cats don’t have Guardians who protect them…cuz we also have coyotes, racoons, and other stuff…ya know…wild!

  6. Humans have no idea what we do to make sure they’re safe!

  7. Wow. You were really brave. Whee probably would have sent Bingo out to scare whatever it was off. He may be the smallest but he has a big attitude! One you would want to come nose to nose with if you were sneaking around where you shouldn’t be.

You’re Mummy is lucky to have a brave protector like you!
