Savannah's Paw Tracks

Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Monday Meowsie News

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!

So here is what is constantly amazing me and my furramily members…well…at least me and Mom Linda and Dad Peter…not sure The Kid Sage counts just yet…na’ mean??

Moving on…even though I am still hissing, spitting, snarling, growling and swatting whenever The Kid Sage is within 4 feet of me…I am still making progress on my recovery from whatever trauma I survived before I was left at the county kill shelter in their night drop box.

Check out my progress which just all happened over this last week…

Nice and comfy...relaxed...

Holding my front paw for over 5 minutes

Hind toesie massage for at least 3 minutes

Anyone who has been following my bloggy knows this is a closeness I have never ever allowed my human guardians I call Mom Linda and Dad Peter.  I have been too terrified of human touching, and such closeness.  But look at me now…and this even with the stress of The Kid Sage.  I believe I am a very brave adult rescue cat…what do you think?

I still am terrified about being picked up and I have not been back to Mom Linda’s lap for a year.  But…what a difference from this adult cat who arrived at the county kill shelter…and I weighed about 3 pounds less then too…I was a bit thin.

Now…just a bit more GREAT NEWS…Tuesday, April 1 is my SECOND BLOGIVERSARY!!  I am having my party to celebrate on THURSDAY  PURRSDAY…that should give me a LOT to purr about…don’t you think?  My how fast the time has flown since my First…

Two years is a lot to celebrate, so be sure to come visit on Thursday Purrsday post this week.  There will be a give away…for any and all no matter where you live. A little something that is not cat or woofie centric.  I don’t want to leave out my pals who are piggies, or rabbits or horses or birds, etc….so Mom Linda and I put our heads together and we have a little something you can all maybe enjoy…

Savvy, yous doing marvelous. we was thinking back and it was over 3 years before mes would let Mommy or Daddy touch mes like that, and mes will still hiss and howl if it goes on too long.

    • Oh Nellie, your life was so very hard…probably more difficult than mine before coming here…but we won’t ever know. I am still making progress…even with The Kid Sage…very very small paw steps forward

  2. Happy Blogoversary sweet girl! You sure have made some amazing progress!!! Thanks fur the woofie help too 🙂

  3. Happy 2nd Blogoversary Savvy!!! It’s so wonderful to hear about how far you’ve come. Isn’t it beautiful what a loving forever home can do for a kitty in need!
Hang in there with Kid Sage. I’m going on 1.5 years with Kid Waffles and I’d like to say everyday is sunshine… ah well, at least SOMEdays are sunshiny! : )

    • oh thank you Katie, I hope you can come to my pawty and give aways, there will be two…it will be on my Thursday post. I am terrified of Sage, that’s all there is to it. If she gets within a few feet of me, I hiss and growl…and last night after she tried to jump on the couch with me on it…she startled me…I snarled and then later I was shivering. Mom was really worried. sigh

  4. Huge Kitty Congratulations on this milestone!
We are all rescue but most of us were not in kill shelters before coming to live with our Dad and the other cats here. We are so glad you made it out of the system and we pray that someday there will be no more of those vile places

  12. Oops, that was supposed to be “life”. 🙂

  13. Mom and I are sooooooo proud of you, Savvy. It’s a major accomplishment to have come so far. And to be so trusting. Live is good!!

  14. You have come so far, Savvy. We’re going to show this post to Ashton so she will feel inspired.

  15. Whoa! Your guard is down; in fact, it’s gone. TW still cannot touch me for more than a couple of seconds unless I’m in a deep sleep. No one is brave enough to touch my feet. TW gets so frustrated, saying stuff like don’t you think getting petted feels good? But I’m just keeping it real here. I’ll never be as cured as you are.

  16. Oh we are so very pleased. Mommy rescued a cat, well he mostly rescued himself he showed up here and the eldest boy called him Peter. Mommy always felt bad because she couldn’t take Peter to the vet. But she couldn’t pick him up. He was a very large mancat and would attack if you tried to pick him up. Mommy thinks he was tortured before he came here because when he showed up he had cuts all over his body. Mommy says he was very nice he would let Mommy and the boys pet him (they were very little 3 & 4) and when they got older and went to school he waited at the bus stop with them. But he would never come inside and he would never let anybody pick him up, and for a long time he went off whenever Daddy was home. He eventually stuck around even when Daddy was here but he wouldn’t let Daddy get near him, which is a shame cause Daddy loves cats. ~Scylla

PS: I thinks having Sage around is good for you.

Wow, Savannah, we knew you had a rough start to life but we did not know the horrible details. We can not even begin to imagine what pathetic excuses for human beings would leave a cat in a night drop box of a kill shelter. We are so happy for you that you found Mom Linda and Dad Peter. Now you have a home with wonderful pawrents who love you. It will probably take a long time to get over your trust issues but you have made great progress. You have also made great strides when it comes to Sage. You might just end up tolerating each other. It’s great progress that you can be in the same room with each other even if you are far apart. Shelly was the last one to come into our house and it took her around a year to get used to everyone else. Love, Cali, Andy, Tater and Shelly (C.A.T.S)

  18. You have come so far and doing really well Savannah. All your friends are proud of you.

  19. What amazing cuddliness! You’re very courageous, Savvy! Also, your furs are so shiny and smoothy compared to your intake photo when you were all thinnish and dullish. I’m proud of you!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  22. Savvy we are so very proud of you! WE understand Mom Linda happiness to be able to sit beside you and give you lots of warm loving hooman touches. We think you will get more and more relaxed as time progresses. YOU really are one lucky lady. And we look forward to helping you celebrate!

  24. My human does not remember how long it took for her to be able to pick up Boodie, but it was longer than you have lived with your humans, Savannah, so you have lots of time to get used to stuff. She still does not pick her up a lot – just every so often to “keep her in practice,” MOL! I’m looking forward to your blogoversary!

  25. Just the other day I said to my cat: “Here I am scritching your belly and rubbing your paws – who would have thought that when you came to me from the shelter, March 2011?”
Back then she was hiding from me and only came roaming the appartement at night, or when I was gone. Today she follows me from sofa to bed and back again.
A little patience with cats like you, Savvy, totally pays off!

  26. Two years blogging, wow that is pawesome! 😀 Whee will definitely be popping over to your blog tomorrow to help you celebrate this momentous occasion!
