Katie is having a blast!

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I just have to share some sweet photos Mom L captured of KK aka Katie, finally playing like a crazy cat after Pipsqueak’s adoption and absence. Interestingly, KK stopped playing in the evening play time on the living room floor with Mom L or Dad P. She only played if Pip was involved. She pined for him for a week or so and then miracle of miracles—she BLASTED through the cat tunnel one night with Mom L and hasn’t stopped since!!

KK loves the chase! She dashes and jumps just like she did before Foster Pip arrived. Making Mom L and Dad P so happy and relieved to have playful KK back!!

Can you see her diving in with her bum in the air? And then, she dives partially through showing off her head in one color (yellow) and her bum in the other (green)!!

Sweet KK just loves playing in her tunnels.

Monday Meowsie News: Kit Katie’s Progress

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

It has been a while since I updated you all about KK’s progress toward revealing her REAL SELF. And in the last six weeks she has been making leaps toward sharing with all of us just who Miss KK really is!

It all started with Dad P spending time at night with KK, after playing, just brushing her and petting her. She usually retreated to her favorite “posing bench” you can see in the background. But now she let’s Dad P brush and pet her at night very close to it. This was a huge step! And boy does she ever have a purr motor!!!!

Then KK discovered who much she luvluvluvs one of our new soft blankies hand knitted by Miss Peggy Martin. Mom L put the pink one on the bottom of the coffee table one night and BANG!!! KK was the first one to discover just how yummy soft that blankie is.

The next “oh my gosh” moment with KK is how much she lets Dad P and now even Mom L pet her, brush her in the morning when we are all enjoying our special “morning rituals” together. KK is bonding very fast now to Dad P. Mom L at first felt a bit left out, but then they talked about KK’s past and both realized that the hoarding situation she came from was a woman’s apartment. Who knows, maybe KK has to create a new trust in human females? She sure is doing that now with Mom L!!

Notice how KK cleans her paw, then her face while Dad P is brushing her with her new slicker brush!! Too cute!!

The really WOW!!! moment in KK’s progress came just last week when, for the very first time ever, she hoped up on Dad P’s recliner and joined him for his nightly ice cream treat. TKS is always there for her little licks from Dad P’s finger, but that night, KK followed after TKS and made herself at home.

First she hopped up, then she marked Dad P’s reading light and finally she inquired as to just what was he eating and could she have some!!!

KK’s latest is that she has followed that Miss Peggy blankie to the back of the couch where Mom L placed it. KK has never walked nor slept on the back of the couch like TKS does.

Katie has a new nightly routine

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I am so proud of my sisfur Katie. Like me, her early life was filled with trauma that told her humans were no trustworthy. Unlike me, Katie lived through that trauma in the first five months of her life and I, I lived it for the first five years.

We don’t know what happened to me, but we do know what happened to Katie and all of us, especially Mom L and Dad P have been working on encouraging her to reveal more and more of her REAL SELF. And she is!!

When we fostered Katie after her rescue from a horrible hoarding situation, she lived in Mom L’s office and she grew to love throwing herself down so’s Mom L could rub her belly from head to toes. But then she went through that terrible time of two round of ring worm, and then being returned three times by uncaring “adopters” and so she decided that belly rubs were no longer safe.

Hallelujah! Katie is starting to live those belly rubs again. Dad P has been working on her for about two months now, and he has turned this into her new nightly routing after her evening play time.

Wheee!!!

Oh wait! Dad P??!! Where did you go?

Are you still there Dad P? I lost you!

Once in a while Mom L can do this, but mostly Katie only allows Dad P right now. You see, Katie’s abusive hoarder was a female human and Katie still doesn’t trust Mom L as much as she does Dad P. Makes Mom L sad and she gets leaky eyes sometimes. I hope Katie will learn like I have that Mom L is gentle and kind and loves us.

Ohhhh—that feels so great

All the while Dad P is petting and brushing Katie, she rolls and rolls and rolls on our living room rug. She does it so much that Dad P has to vacuum it every other day because she rubs her loose furs off!!! MOL
