Hey, hey, hey…Savannah here! Hope efurrybody had a great weekend! Mom volunteered at an animal rescue big event as part of her work with the Contra Costa Humane Society, a non-profit animal rescue organization. They run the Kitty Corner Shelter where Mom and Dad found me. There was this really big event where lots of organizations have booths and raffles and give away things and stuff, so Mom spent some time handing out flyers for CCHS upcoming activities and what not.
So, I got to spend some time with Dad. I am still avoiding him just a bit ‘cuz of the nail trimming episode…he is the one stuck with grabbing me and holding me by my scruff…and of course it doesn’t help that I am more anxious of men in general than I am of women…anyways…me and Dad hung out.
Now my Dad loves this new magazine I turned him onto…Mousebreath: A Lifestyle Magazine by Cats and For Cats and Cat Lovers. So he saw a book review of this really cool book by Max the Psycho Kitty . The book is called The Rules: A Guide For People Owned By Cats by Max Thompson. Well in this book Max talks about using stuff around the house to keep your cat entertained.
Dad goes and digs around in the trash…he is so cute when he is trying hard to get on my good side, he’ll do just about anything!…so again, he digs in the trash and retrieves this gray tube made outta paper…I think it came from where he and Mom have their own litter box…it usually has lots of white soft papery stuff wrapped around it, then when that’s all gone, this gray tube thing is left.
Well, I digress…so Dad decided to save it and try it on me…’cuz Max the Psycho Kitty suggested it.
…first, I am not too sure at all…
…but then I attack it…rooowowwww…I circle around behind it….
…then I decide it must have gone under my scratch post…so I shove my paws under the post looking for it…of course not knowing it had snuck up behing me….
Oh My Cat!! If ya haven’t tried the paper tube roll thingy, give it a whirl…what a rush!!…I had to go cool off after that encounter…back in bed, natch!..
That’s what’s new in my corner of the world…what’s new with you today???

Whee love cardboard tubes too. They are like a universal pet toy!
Whee get our Mummy to stuff ours wuth hay and herbs because we love tearing them with our sharp toothys.
You may also like brown paper bags filled with shredded newspaper. They are really messy but lots and lots of fun!

Chuckling at your comment on our blog. Yes, we really live next to a 1000 acre horse ranch (that has some cows – but it is really about horses). We have to drive through the ranch to get to our house. We live beside Cataloochee Ranch ( http://www.cataloocheeranch.com/ ) and Cataloochee Ski ( http://www.cataloochee.com ) at about a 4700 foot elevation in Maggie Valley, NC – right beside the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
wow! my Mom and Dad mostly know the Greensborough area of NC. That’s about all…but have colleagues in the Pinehurst area, never been there but maybe near you?? Mom speaking…Peter and I bought a SIbe in 1979, in Santa Cruz CA, then moved to Ohio for my job where I ended up buying 2 more from Ontario CAnada and we showed and spent the next 12 year or more in the SIbe world, including pure Sibe sledding teams…we are still SIbe lovers, just cannot have one again..Sibes and cats dont mix well, and Peter is unfortunately asthmastic, even though the Sibes did not bother him like all other breeds…some day I will write about our Sibe family…and all we learned from them…including an undying commitment to wolf recovery in the USA. Love your herd….
Savannah, we found out you can BITE those things and leave really neat holes in them! Glad you let your dad try his best for you!
well guys, my Dad is a really good guy…and he wants to cuddle me so bad! I do sleep next to him at night and he gets to cuddle a bit with me then…he has the warm afghan over him and Mom doesnt so at night I love Dad best MOL

Something else that’s fun for kitties is an empty small prescription bottle with a child-proof cap. Mom or Dad can put a little rock or two inside and there it is! It’s fun because it rolls funny and it makes a little rattle.
ya know Mom and Dad knew about this stuff from when they had young cats, ya know kittens..but I am 5 yrs old and they forget I’m just like them, young at heart! So we r trying stuff like this and the pill bottle will be next for sure! thanks
