Savannah's Paw Tracks

Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Changes in My Safe Spot…

I know I’m kind’a throwin’ new stuff at ya a lot…but that’s how my life is progressing…and I have other stuff I can talk about later that is, well…errrrr….ummmm…not so ‘new’ about me…but the new stuff is more fun…

So here is something I have noticed lately….do you remember when I first started posting about my recovery process???  And most of my photo ops came from behind the chair I have in our bedroom…and there was always that really pretty afghan hanging down so I could kind’a hide behind it….remember????

….here….remember this….it used to hang all the way to the floor so’s I could really hide behind it…when we got this photo I already had it moved higher up…still safe to get behind, just not totally covered up….

…well check this out…NO AFGHAN!!! TA DA…!!!…..notice how relaxed I am…mmmmm…

…I roll to my back to get a good fix on the black feather wand…ready to snatch when it gets close…

…WHOA!!! it’s gonna get me!!! MOL…I do a quick grab with the right front paw…but again…notice my laid back (yep, pun intended) position…

…but ya can see I was getting my hind paws hooked really good into the post so I could push off to make a fast grab…

…and well…the end of that play session is a story for another time…mostly I wanted you to see…no longer is there an afghan hangin’ over the back of the chair to hide me.  I still need to hide behind the scratching post…I go directly here in the morning to solicit pets and food…I still only play in our bedroom…sometimes Mom can get me to play in the living room, but I don’t do that with Dad yet.

And sometimes I play with Mom and even Dad when I am on my cat tower…but not much…but I have come a long long way from hiding behind that afghan…now I prefer to SLEEP and NAP on the afghan instead!!!  Not bad for recovery progress, huh???!!!

    yay, auntie Savannah!

  2. You are recovering nicely. Now all you need is a Silvervine fishie or pillow to play with.

    • ohhh!!! Mom is so wanting to know what silvervine is and so am I!! I am sort’a ‘ok’ with nip, but it doesn’t totally chime my paws, if ya know what I mean…how does a cat get her paws on some of it???

  3. Glad to see you are getting more comfortable in your environment. When I came to my forever home it took me a while to get comfortable. The human who had previously adopted me was allergic to me and kept me locked in a bathroom–so I didn’t know how to act when I got to my forever home. But, over time, I got very comfortable with my new humans and all the great friends at my house that I have to play with. I know you will continue to make great progress given enough love–which I’m sure you are receiving a great abundance of!
