Savannah's Paw Tracks

Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Monday Meowsie News…

See, I told you I’d be back real soon, huh?!  I’m going to post every Monday and Thursday and then a couple more times when I have stuff to meow about…that’s my plan for now…hope you will check me out again in the coming days and weeks…sooooooo….

I just needed a bit of time to rest my paws and give Mom some luvs too…we have had people over for noms and I even came out and played with Dad when one lady human was here. First time ever that I joined Mom and Dad and a visitor…and then I actually stayed to play for like 20 minutes!!

I am gettin’ so much more brave.

So, here’s somethin’ else to CELEBRATE…remember I told ya I used to luvluvluv my Bird Watching Tower at our old home??? I played on it a lot with Mom and stuff.

Then when we moved I didn’t play on it, but I did take a nap here and there…that was last Fall…

…see…there I am enjoying a nice sun puddle…

Well, then Catmouse came along…and this thingy called a “tree” came into the same room…and it made itself at home right there next to my Bird Watching Tower…not a good thing, no sirree…not a good thing at all…see how my tower is sort’a crammed against that window…brrrrrrrr…I never went back to my tower again. Nope, not ever again since Catmouse was over and the tree was moved back to its box…

ct 11

Oh, Dad moved it around and stuff…but I never even gave it a sniff; let alone get on it.

So, they moved it to the landing on the second floor thinkin’ maybe I would like it up there…right next to a nice big window that looks out on the tree tops…they said “Great bird and squirrel TV Savvy”…yeah, right! NOT!

Nope, I stayed away from that Bird Watching Tower (BWT).

Then, Mom got an idea.  She took a great big towel and made me a TENT!!! ON MY BIRD WATCHING TOWER!!!  (thank you Sammy for teaching Mom about cats and tents!!)

Check it out…nice, huh?!

Well, Mom and Dad went to bed…and when Dad got up…he found me…

Savvy tower 1

All Mom had upstairs was her iPad but she got a shot of me all snuggled down in my THIRD FLOOR on my BWT!  I didn’t even look up…Mom was able to run downstairs and get her camera…and I NEVER EVER MOVED!

Savvy tower 2

…then I had to give her a little glare…enough was enough already!!

I mix up which tent I sleep in..sometimes the one in our bedroom…

…and sometimes in my BWT…this is making my life way more fun I can tell you!!!

Hope lots of you have noticed I have been around to visit…I still have lots more catchin’ up to do…but I am starting to use my paws to get around to visit you all…luvluvluv each and every one of you…

  1. Cool tent! I’m not much of a tent cat but my sister Moofa loves sleeping in one. I’m going to share this idea with the humans in my house so they can make us one too. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I’m playing catch-up so only just saw this. Loving your new tent Savvy!

  10. Boy, you’ve good a lot of good news to share today. Suddenly we have so much to post about that we don’t have time to write it all up. We can either write or visit. Sad, isn’t it.

    • oh yeah CK…I totally agree. We are working on a 3 day a week plan…with option to post another day or so if we chose…like “wordless Wed” or “Sunday Easy”…we have stuff we want to research and write about..takes time as you know…paw pats, Savannah

  11. Savannah, that tent idea is great! Maybe we can get the mom to do that to our cat tree.

Oh Savvy, You better watch that socializing with Introodurs around or pretty soon you’ll end up like me….groveling for brushies from STRANGERS and letting them play fev-vers with you! And where THAT will all lead I cannot even imagine! That’s a pretty nice tent you gots there on your BWT. Good job, Humans!

    • well Spitty, I look to you as my mentor for all things ‘interactive’ with humans…and you have so shocked me in your latest behavior…I hardly know what to think….ahem…koff, koff…ahem…just sayin’

  14. Savvy you are doing so well. it just takes time and patience, you’ll eventually teach them what you need 🙂

  15. Dear Savannah, we have noticed all your visits to our place and thank you very much – it means a lot to us.

Great idea with that tent – see you just needed a bit more privacy. We are happy to hear that you also came out to visit with Mom’s visitor. Sometimes being brave just takes time. Lightning is slowly learning that some strange things are A-OK.

Woos – Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

  16. woohoo Savvy that is a great tent you have there. WE all bet you have lots of good kitty dreams in there.

  17. That Sammy is chock full of ideas! The tent – so perfect in its simplicity, has solved you’re problem with the BWT after it was ruined by the tree. Yay, Savvy! You are brave and wise.

    Love and licks,

    • awww…thanks Cupcake…I am such a fearful cat…I try hard to be more brave. It’s a really big deal that I visited in front of the house guest for a while. I am very shy usually. Trying hard to get better…paw pats, Savvy

  18. Your beans got smart on where to put the cat condo and the blankie helps. You aren’t so exposed.

    • oh I just know you will luvluvluv having a tent Katie Isabella, you and I share a bit of anxiety I think and I find it very comforting to be able to feel safe, yet I can always see out to make sure no one sneaks up on me and stuff…they really are very easy to make and take no time whatsoever! HONEST!

    • Hi Tiger; I stopped by today to visit you…did you see me?? You look very comfy I must say. And I haven’t decided how often to post, but at least 3 times a week and then I’ll see how I feel. paw hugs, Savannah

  22. Dang paw slip, you got a cozy tent, not test!

  23. Hello sweet Savannah! You sure got a cozy test…and you know how to use it!

That is awesome that your humans were able to figure out (with Sammy’s help) how to make you happy with your cat tree again! None of us here are big tent kitties, but I know those who are REALLY love it!

Yay! You’ve got a great napping/bird watching spot there. So glad your mom figured out just what to do.

PS. ‘Bout the postin’ schedule. That’s what I do, too. Twice a week, every week. Not too much. Not too little. Sounds just ’bout PURRFECT. purrs

    • thanks Nissy, I think I may post 3 x a week like clock work; and then if I wanna do another one I can just do it. But I need a plan…and right now…I don’t have a plan…gotta get workin’ on a plan…yup…that’s what I need…a plan

  28. What a great idea. Your Mom rocks! We want a tent now, too.

    • I can’t believe you haven’t gotten one yet. I mean, you did move and all. And of course you were traumatized by all that so they should’a made a few tents so’s you would have some place to, ya know, like hide out and recuperate and stuff…just sayin’…

  29. Aww.. you are so cute in your tent. Can you share some tent making secrets with me?

    • ummm..well, I guess so…first you like find a place that you can hang a towel or blankie across…so it makes like this darker open place under it…but it must have a way in and out…then you make it that same way every single day until it gets used…there! how’s that?

  30. Savvy, you are so smart! You held out just long enough so they could figure out the tent thing.

    • yup! you know Sage, we have to keep the peeps guessing about why we do or don’t do stuff…that way they keep on trying new things and making new tents and buying new toys…heh…heh…too bad they don’t have a clue that it all in the TYHM (Training Your Human Manual) we all get when we are born

  31. Glad you have rediscovered your old friend. You sure do look content and happy. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Lisbeth, Astrid and Calista Josette

  32. BRILLIANT!! The birdies and squirrels will never see you in are all camouflaged!
    The REAL Maple Syrup Mob

  33. Love the tent on your tree!!! I’m so glad you are enjoying it again. 🙂

  34. Been missing you Savvy. Whee are so pleased to hear you are getting braver!

    Keep up the good work!

    Nibbles, Nutty, Buddy & Basil

    • I am sorry I have been absent for so long on your comment queue. I just couldn’t keep up with all the games and things going on so I just read but didn’t comment. I dropped by today to visit; I hope you get more sun puddles to stretch out in…paw pats, Savannah ….and thank you ever so much for showing up in my comment queue today; I know your Mum is super busy with her writing and job.

Hi Savannah! It’s good to here about you taking time to greet a stranger visiting your house. Hitch always checks out visitors here but he has a strict no touch policy. I sometimes will greet a visitor that’s been here before. It’s gratifying to see how honored they are when I give them an audience. I’m sure your visitor is still talking about how you graced her with your presence.
    Mistletoe & Hitch

    • oh Mistletoe! thanks so much for visiting me today. I have lost so many already just by not posting for 4 days…I am so bummed! Guess I have to get used to not seeing so many but those who come by today are so very special so thank you, thank you! Oh, and tell Hitch, I also have the same ‘no touch’ policy…they can look…but no touchy the! paw pats, Savvy

Oh, sweet Savannah it is so good to see you this morning. We love all your tent pictures. We are so happy to hear you are getting more and more brave. Hugs and nose kisses

  37. Silly humans not working that out. It’s what people birdwatchers use and is called a hide.Good name eh?

  38. A tent!! What a great idea!! I’ll have to see if Grace and boys would like that … or even just Grace! The boys tend to snooze together, and I just think that sometimes Grace needs a place that only SHE would like. Thanks for the terrific idea!

    • Hi Miss Marilyn! give Grace a nose bump for me and a paw pat for Ruse and Audace. ANd yes, the tents are really special…always make sure we can see, but not be seen too well. And sometimes I like to get into a spot where I am totally under the afghan and my breath keeps me nice a toasty warm. Thank you so much for coming to visit and leave a comment today. I miss my furriends

  39. What wonderful progress Miss Savvy – 20 minutes with a visitor! That really is something 😉

    • Hi Miss Annie; wasn’t that just pawsome! And the lady was the one who saved my from the kill shelter by fostering me for a week before my shelter could take me. She was very purrleased I allowed her to see how wonderful I look now and how playful I am. Thank you for coming to visit today, Paw pats, Savvy

  40. Oh Savvy I’m so happy you’re loving your tower AND your tents! Tents are the very best…..! Also, congratulations for actually coming out with a stranger visiting….even after all these years (13 of them in fact!) I still don’t do that. I hide until people leave. My Auntie Carol is the only person I will actually come out of my basement to see when she’s here – – – she’s known me since I first came to live here. So you’ve REALLY made a lot of progress – you’re relaxing not just at home with your parents but now with visitors too! YAY!

    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

    • Yikes! Sammy, I had no idea you still prefer to hide when human strangers are around; makes me not feel so bad. It was just the one human, but I stayed quite a long while and played with the laser with Dad and then my peacock feather…I was a wild cat! MOL thank you for coming by to visit me Sammy…paw pats, Savannah

  41. now that tent is cool!!! Lucy has some ideas now…

    • waves paw to Lucy!! HI!!…You would totally luvluvluv one of these Lucy…very like beach lounges with those hoods…all of mine allow sun puddles to collect right where I nap…nice!. Paw pats, Savannah thank you for coming by to read my bloggy

  42. OHHHHH….we want a tent too!!!

    The Florida Furkids

Waving paw...HI!...what'd 'cha think...??
