Did you have a busy weekend? We did!!

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Our week-o-end was all about getting our two special ~~irritating~~ foster kittens adopted. Mom L and Dad P took the two kittens to their first two adoption days this Saturday and Sunday at a local Petco store.

You can tell from the photos that sweet Katie, the ten month old survivor from the apartment hoarding place, just shut down on her first day. It was really tough on her. Katie was only five months old when Mom L and Dad P rescued her and she had already had a litter of kittens ‘cuz Mom L could see she had been lactating very recently. Katie has had a struggle to overcome her five months of tragic abuse.

Now little Lilly, about eighteen weeks old, at first thought this was gonna be an adventure, so she was willing to check out what was going on.

And then Lilly retreated to her comforter, her Auntie Katie and the two hung together for the duration of two afternoon spent at an adoption site at a Petco.

Thankfully we have each other

It will be a long road to getting these two now very bonded kittens adopted. But more about that later.

Mom L also helped one of the local colony feeders get a new cat in for spay, only to learn this cat had a microchip!! Well, her name is Lily, she was adopted at our local animal services just about a year ago and the people and phone numbers on that chip said “not my cat”. So this sweet kitty is now available for adoption at our local animal services by December 12.

What do you mean ? I had a family and they abandoned me???

My last news update is about Stan the mancat. Unfortunately Stan does not appreciate being in the animal shelter…duh!!!??? So he is starting to “stress bite” anyone who pets him. He doesn’t break skin, just gives “firm bitey bites”. So after serious soul searching, Mom L and Dad P decided to return Stan to his former caretakers. They are a really nice family who are welcoming Stan back with open arms. We are donating an outdoor house for Stan and some food to get the family started.

POTP (Power of the Paw) To The Rescue!

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

All I can say is that Mom L and I don’t let much grass grow under our paws—well—”under feet” for Mom L. Anywho, we have been totally busy as can be between our Paw It Forward work and takin’ care of our two foster kittens.

Most of my readers will know that our little Lilly, only sixteen weeks old, has had a tough go at it over the last few weeks. She had lost weight, had diarrhea, tossed her kibble, had a temp of 103-104 and her blood work came back not lookin’ good at all. Oh, and she was fighting her way through her SECOND round of dreaded ring worm! Miss Ann Adamus was so king to create an image for Lilly and let Blogville know that Lilly really needed some POTP.

And my goodness did you all deliver!! Mom L and Dad P took Lilly to a new Vet. We all thought from Lilly’s first blood work that she could be FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) or have a genetic liver shunt. Neither was good news for our little Lilly. So the doc ordered a couple of tests to learn about her ring worm status and to learn about any mutations her corona virus showed. Both test returned negative!! Now we know that Lilly is still not completely clear on the FIP thingy, BUT—she has been eating like a champ, gained weight in five days and is no longer lethargic. We still have some tummy issues but we are all over getting that handled. The real issue for Lilly appears to be bad information Mom L received from a RVT at the Vet office where she purchased the ring worm med Itrafungol. That RVT told Mom L it was better to give Lilly and Katie the full dose TWICE a day rather than just once as the instructions say. Call us foolish, but we trusted this vet hospital, not one we use, but we were referred to them. The itrafungol appears to have challenged Lilly’s liver and then that added to many other parts of her immune system not being able to manage her health as they should.

Thank all of you for your generous POTP. Here is our foster kitten Lilly today, playing with a new toy and having fun with her Auntie Katie, our other nine month old foster.

They are havin’ so much fun knocking the balls outta that box! Mom L and Dad P have to work hard to find all six!!

And that POTP must have been so pawerful that it just kept right on going! Remember the amazing rescue of the gray mom cat and her six kittens? Well those kittens are off to adoption and mom cat has been spayed and returned to her loving feeder. Mom L and Dad P took her back once they located the person feeding her.

But she knew she was home. Dad P opened that cage and she went straight to the hole in the fence to the feeder’s back yard.

And that POTP still wasn’t done and it carried right over to the abandoned male cat Mom L named Stan.

My name is Stan, the manly mancat!

Stan had some real health challenges. He had his ear cleaned out while under anesthesia when he was neutered. His curled ears are from a lifetime of neglected health care by his former “guardians”. They moved and left Stan to fend for himself. Kind people who rented that home have been feeding Stan. Mom L had Stan admitted to our great local municipal shelter Contra Costa Animal Services. They found that he had a scar that goes around his neck, down to his skin where a string must have been tied. They also learned he is FIV+ and they removed a lump from his neck. Mom L and a rescue pal Miss Tammy are gettin’ that biopsy processed to learn if Stan has any cancer.

Point is my pals, that your POTP is so pawerful that at least Stan is having a good time, good food and lots of love while we work on his future. Here are some photos from Mom L’s recent visit. Stan does get over stimulated when being pet ‘cuz he loves it so much. His “biter bites” are like love taps!

As for me and TKS aka The Kid Sage, we are both handling having introoders upstairs and Mom L’s attention other places than on us like champs! HAH!!! If you believe that!!

And then she did that silly thing kids do—

As for me, I am just hangin’ out on my carpeted stairs, keeping my head down.

I am just fine. As long as I have Mom L’s side of the bed

And I am making sure I get my sun puddle time too.

Monday Meowsie News: Can we please get some POTP?

HIYA! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I decided to let my little foster kitten Miss Lillian aka Lilly have the blog post today. As you can see in the following photos, she kind’a sort’a took over Mom L’s computer so I just said “go for it kid!!”

As you all know, I don’t try to help Mom L with the blog technical stuff. I am more of a “visionary” cat. And besides, I just can’t jump up on her desk anymore—darn arty-right-us!! But Miss Lilly sure can get up there and I think she did a mighty fine job of it.

Oh, nice composition…but it looks a tad off focus on me!

So Miss Lilly tinkered a bit more and finally seemed satisfied.

I changed focus to me so’s to not wake up Auntie Katie

What can I say, except that our foster kittens, nine month old Katie and four month old Lilly, have been with us for almost five months and they are tryin’ to take over my blog!!

Now about the POTP request in my headline. You see, sweet Miss Lilly has been very sick since about last week of October. She has been to emergency with Dad P two times and to three different clinics. Unfortunately, her blood work indicates, but doesn’t prove, that she may be a genetic liver shunt kitten. Mom L and Dad P are taking her to a special Veterinarian tomorrow, Tuesday.

Please if you have a moment, send sweet precious Lilly your most kind and caring POTP. We may not be able to save her so she can find her forever home. But Mom L and Dad P sure as heck are gonna try and The Kid Sage and I are right there with them.
