Getting Together More—My Progress Continues

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Now I don’t wanna get my readers too excited, but our recent move has had a promising affect on TKS and me. You see, we both kind’a like being in the same room together. If I am in one room, TKS usually ends up there and preferably as close to me as I let her get. And, if she is in a room, I sometimes search her out and join her—again not too close mind you.

My progress just keeps on showing up. Mom L and Dad P are sure I am more confident in this home and I know I am!!

Our first morning in our home found TKS on the top and me on the bottom level of the cat tree in our bedroom. We were both pretty fascinated with that flowing water outside. We had never seen such a thing. We stayed here for a couple of hours. We knew we were safe together.

Watching the water flow past our bedroom balcony—amazing!

After we exited our safe room the following day, we found a way we could both help snooze while Dad P was setting up the TV stuff.

We luvluvluv the new coffee table with the cat bed on the bottom

Sometimes I get to sleep on the lower coffee table cat bed if TKS gets to the couch before me. Guess Mom L won’t be putting any of her little decorative stuff on that shelf, na’ mean??

One of our soon to be fave spaces to share is the medium size cat tree in front of the living room window. I prefer the doughnut hole and TKS favors the top. Works out great for both of us. If I get there first, I don’t ever even hiss at her when she rocks the tower with her leap to the top!

Purrfect tower to share with a sisfur

And I have even begun to allow TKS to get ever closer and closer to me when we both share the couch. This is the closest we have been forever. I kind’a like havin’ The Kid around I guess.

Almost butt to butt—we may never touch butts, but we are comfy

Our latest space to share is in Mom L’s office. I found a totally safe and comfy spot when Mom L put some of her soon to be wall hangings on the black chair. She is still trying to decide where to hand them, so I took advantage of the cat bed she created. What cat wouldn’t? Right!!

Ahhh…this is divine!

Now Mom L’s office chair is about three feet (.9 meters) away from my spot. Her office chair is black. When she entered to take this photo of me, she started to turn her chair around to sit in it and guess who she found? TKS!!! So when I am in my black chair, TKS always grabs Mom L’s office chair to hang out with me and seriously—I don’t mind at all.

I luvluvluv being close to Savvy

I know that is a lousy photo of TKS, but the office window is behind her and Mom L didn’t want to make me run away. I’ll make sure we get a better photo of us together in this special spot.

Now this last place we like to share is also what I call “Savannah’s great big cat tree”. I mean our carpeted stairs. I have always luvluvluv’s having a carpeted stair case to be able to run up and down and to have Mom L play with me going from stair to stair and across the step chasing my peacock feather. I guess TKS thought she would try to be Mom L!  MOL!!!

Come’on Savvy. I’m moving your favorite feather! Play with me!

There you have it. Another progress report. I am still growing in confidence and willingness to accept TKS more and more. I may be twelve to thirteen years old, but I still have a lot more I know I can do.

Cat Rescue Work Keeps Going

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I’ve been going on and on about our move, and I do have more to say about that, but you know Mom L and Dad P did NOT stop doing what they could to help shelter cats and community cats.

We had only been in our new home about ten days and it was time for the July SNIP (Spay Neuter Impact Program) Clinic. Mom L and Dad P never hesitated—they signed up for their usual full shifts. You can learn more about SNIP if you read some of my earlier posts here and here.

There were eighty-five cats who passed through this last clinic, one was lovingly helped to The Bridge as he was very ill. A full clinic and every single human hand was needed to make this happen. At the last minute Mom L learned there were not enough Vets and it would be cancelled. And then a miracle—Miss Eileen who is a primary organizer for SNIP sent out a plea to Vets across the San Francisco Bay Area and they come through! One Vet clinic owner brought several of his vets and vet techs!! Success!!!

Thought you would enjoy seeing some of the kitties. Their eyes reveal how frightened they are but if only they understood how much this clinic will improve their quality of life.

These pretty Siamese girls came in from a community member who trapped them in her back yard.

Only one would turn around for Mom L, the other gave her backside view! They had to be transferred to individual cat traps to be admitted because the clinic does not allow cats to come through in cat carriers. The policy is in place to try to insure member of the public do not use this clinic to S/N their own pets. This clinic is solely for S/N and vaccinate community cats.

Two more “worried eyes” Mom L checked in for their SNIP experience.

Dad P and Mom L also responded with a “no problem” when the Adoption Manager from Contra Costa Humane Society asked if they could transport eight adult cats from the county animal shelter to my old home at Kitty Corner!! And we were STILL in the process of getting moved! Be sure to hover over photos for captions!

Now you all know that even though I still have lots to share about my move, my Paw It Forward work continues—let me know in comments what you have been doin’ lately to Paw It Forward.

A Favorite Sun Puddle Time of Year

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

No matter if you are a woofie or kitty, I bet’cha you are much like me—meaning that you have your very own favorite sun puddle during particular times of the year.

My favorite sun puddle in May to early June is in our master bedroom. We have an unusable balcony with a sliding glass door which is covered with what Mom L refers to as “those ugly vertical blinds”. Now TKS and I have no idea why she  doesn’t like the blinds because we both enjoy inserting our bodies in among those very same blinds in search of a special sun puddle this time of year.

Actually Mom L may be referring to the fact that “said blinds” do tend to fall off their track when we kitties push among them to find this special seasonal sun puddle. But I say “ppfffft!” It’s a sun puddle! Who cares about getting to it.

But I have digressed. ‘Scuse me. Let me move along. So this morning Mom L saw me getting ready to settle into this special seasonal sun puddle and she decided to make my morning pleasure into a photo shoot! Yep, she did that very thing.

*sigh* “Such a nice morning”

I realized quickly that I was being spied on by the Momarazzie and let her know I knew.

“got’cha Mom L! I see you and that smartie pants phone”

But then I saw a shadow and knew some bird was offering itself up for some bird TV viewing so I had to take my attention away from Mom L for a second.

“Hey birdie! Come back around one more time!”

Trust me! I did not forget that Mom L was usurping my morning leisure time in a favorite seasonal sun puddle for her “Savannah Photo Shoot”!!

“OK!! Alright already! I see you snapping away on that smartie pants phone!”

I did get in the last harrummppff at Mom L when I started to give her my *back of disdain*. Not sure that made a difference but it sure did make me feel in charge!

“Mom L? This is it, I am done. Now scoot away and mind your own business!

Do your humans ever invade you when you are enjoying a favorite seasonal sun puddle??? How do you get them to move along and leave you alone?? Give me a yeowl out or woof out in comments.
