Friday Frolics…how to play alone and like it…meow!
Hiya! Savannah Here!
Most of the time, I don’t play a lot by myself. I need Dad or Mom’s hand waving something for me to get going.
But one night last week, they were having those “adult beverages” before dinner, and we were all watching the news… well…I got one of those “holy cat! Must Play Now” moods going…and kind’a went off my Nip ‘N Nap Mat, and my fave feather toy…all by myself…

peeEss…Mom and I tried for literally (VBP) 5 hours to do a “gallery show” with captions…stuff it I say…Mom and Dad are trying to prepare me for another one of their “get-a-ways”…they are “going out of country”…what???…there won’t be any country where they are going??? So confusing for this kitteh…but Mom and I are trying REALLY hard to schedule 10 posts ahead for me…purrlease have patience…and forgiveness…

My mom did see a mat like that in the petstore the other week , but she didn´t buy one , she think´s that me playing in the bed with the quilts is enough 🙂

no Charlie, this one doesn’t make a rustling noise, I think I wouldn’t like it if it did. Mom is buying them on Ebay for half the price of Amazon. They are called “Fat Cat” Catnip Mats…at least the brand is “Fat Cat”
no rustling sound, I think I would not like it if it did. I like it when Mom or Dad pull my feather toy under the mat and I come running and pretend it is something wriggling under the mat, great fun!
I bet you know what I’m going to say. I don’t play often by myself either. Every once in awhile I’ll start throwing my Skineeez mouse around but that’s about the only toy I’ll play with by myself. Occasionally I’ll get zoomies and tear through my tunnel and through the house but usually TW will take the hint and start chasing me.

I play lots by myself. The funny thing is there are three of us kitties here and we all play alone a lot of the time! It gets tiring waiting for my human to get in gear and my roommates… playing with them often results in smacky paws.
you know Sparkle, Mom and Dad would like for me to have another kitty to keep me company when they aren’t here…and I know Dad would like a kitty that isn’t as scared of him as me (men in general)…but none of us wants ME to disappear and hide again like I did at the shelter…sigh

oh thank you Sage, we tried a Gallery presentation just to mix it up, but Mom worked like 3 hours and couldn’t kick WP into submission to her will…so slideshow it is MOL
Looks like you were having a great time playing on your own. Eric only plays if me or mum play with him, but I like to play on my own too. Every night before I go to sleep I give my silvervine pillow a good bunny kicking.

Hi Flynn! I don’t always do it, but I sure had one great session that night…I do usually do a nightly “chase ghosts” about 2 AM if I’m up for it…ya know, run up and down stairs…making lots of thumping noises…then hop back in bed for snuggle with Mom…
I don’t do the playing alone thing very well, but sometimes I freak the Staff by pretending to be spooked at a speck of dust!!
oh yeah! I do that one lots…then I look like a halloween cat!! MOL

May Ling plays with her sparkle ball solo but the rest of us have to have a human–or a buddy to race around with!

Hooray Savannah! Playing alone is good. IT’s nice to not always need a human to play. Tails are a great toy. I like to chase mine when I’m in the top of MY cat tree. It makes my huMom laugh to watch me spinning around.
If your humans are going out of the country, maybe that means they’ll be in the city!?! Why anyone wants to go outside is beyond me. I’d think they’d want to stay inside where it’s warm and there’s lots of noms, both stinky goodness and crunchy kibble….and treats . I luvluvluv freeze derided chicken from Halo. It’s my favorite. Maybe your humans are going to where their favorite treats are?
Well, I’m snoopervising huMom while she makes a cake. She’s made a big mess so far. I better go help make it bigger.

ohhh, I did try freeze dried chicken…but I wouldn’t even give it a sniff…Mom and Dad are thinking the key to my nose is liver…but only with chicken or turkey, not beef…and I posted once about chasing my tail…Mom caught me doing it when she had the FLASH and CLICK thingy…I don’t do it often..but I kind’a get into when I do! MOL
Hitch doesn’t like the freeze dried chicken either, but he love the freeze dried little shrimps. Yuck! HuMom put them both in water once and the sorta “came back”, huMom calls them zombie treats when we get them wet. Chicken and liver is good, never beef liver! Yuck again! My new favorite food is Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey, Hitch likes the sea bass and shrimp appetizer from FF. The twins like to eat Lizzie’s Beneful dog food. They’re really weird.
I hope your Mom & Dad have a good trip. I hope they have lots of fun! Take good care of yourself,

That’s really good you’ve discovered how much fun playing alone can be. But nothing beats having Mom and Dad join in the games. 🙂

I’m sure you’ll have plenty of time to practice playing by yourself when your parents go off on their get-away out of the country. Maybe they’ll bring you some special new toy when they come home. Meanwhile, it’s good that you’re so comfy in your new home already – especially if they’re taking a little trip! YAY!

Savannah you are a good kitty! Mom says I am AWFUL at playing by myself! She thinks it is because she adopted me at such a young age and Dakota came to live with us soon after. She thinks that because I have HIM I am lazy cause he is like an over-grown “toy”
She compares me to Grandpa Bobo who was the “only” cat and “only” pet like you…she said he was CATABULOUS at playing by himself! Well….good for him! He also didn’t have his own blog……..sooooo THERE!
