What A Thankful Thursday
HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!
This is gonna be like a really long post…so you might want to grab some noms and a fave beverage and pull up a soft blankie and sit a while…
SERIOUSLY…I know “great” blogs are short…but you are really gonna wanna read this WHOLE BOOK…’cuz you are ALL the main characters…JUST SAYIN’…
That’s why I am sittin’ here in this chair…
I just have a ton of things to be thankful for…and so much of those things are all about the treasure of having furriends who pitch in to help even without being asked…and when asked…they do it with their whole heart.
PAWSOME!
First, I think most of you remember I have a foster brofur, Leo, who has been in my our care for a month now. He has hepatic lipidosis or commonly called fatty liver syndrome. You can read about it here in one of my posts…or visit this LINK HERE to learn from Sparkle…
It was in that post, May 9, that I asked if anyone had some spare green papers, silver coins, lying around unused, that Mom and Dad could use a bit of help as Leo’s medical costs, which they fully committed to paying cuz his shelter, Contra Costa Humane Society is not very big and their vet care fund is always so stretched rescuin’ lots of adult cats and woofies. Mom and Dad had paid $2,285 USD for Leo’s two night stay in animal hospital, blood work, ultrasound and feeding tube operation.
Anywho, I asked that one time…and guess what happened?
Several of my furriends immediately jumped to action and Mom found $245 USD in her paypal account in a few days!! Unbelievable…and over half of those who responded at that time were from out of USA…our global paw blog community so totally ROCKS!!!
Next I got the surprise of my life…my blue eyed mancat furriend and his blonde bombshell side kick…yes, I mean Alfie and Mollie!…they asked, well, actually I guess Mum Stella asked “can I help?” We said sure and that was it for then.
An email from Mum Stella truly shocked me and Mom Linda to the core…they were gonna do not only a raffle but an AUCTION to help raise funds for Leo!!!
Mollie and Alfie and Mum Stella outdid themselves, on May 20th they had not only the AUCTION but the RAFFLE up and running…click HERE to read the post about the Auction.
…Alfie…(Mr Blue Eyes himself…purrrs…)
…Mollie…
Of course, they needed more staff, so their good pal Miss Misaki jumped in with all four paws to assist with sorting the Raffle tickets, numbers etc…Misaki even took time out from eating her ice cream cone to make sure efurryone remembered to get their raffle tickets and to make bids at the auction…click HERE to read her post.
Now you ask “how could just those two bloggers get the word out and about and beg solicit furriends to donate items to the auction????….well of course there were even MORE of my furriends who helped…my mentor Sammy was cat on the spot getting the word out on every one of his posts once Mollie and Alfie got the ball ,nip mouse event rolling…click HERE to read one of Sammy’s post about the auction/raffle.
And…of course my furry good furriends, My Three Moggies, were right in there helping strong arm encourage furriends to donate auction items and then to bully motivate them to make bids and buy raffles tickets…AND GUESS WHAT ELSE THEY DID?????….
My Three Moggies donated a PAWSOME Raffle First Prize…£50/$75 voucher for pet toys and products on Amazon…click HERE to read their announcement.
Of course the Second Place Raffle Prize was also super duper special…it was donated from Mollie and Alfie’s shop…it was one of Mum Stella’s very special hand drawn cartooned mouse pads…check out the two she did for ME a while ago…
And one more GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the WINNERS of the First Grand Prize from the Raffle…da’ Tabbies-O-Trout Towne…they gave LEO their Amazon voucher for $75 USD to spend on what ever he needs or to give to his shelter roomies at Kitty Corner.
WHAT YOU ALL ACCOMPLISHED ON BEHALF OF LEO

$1,919.91
I am so respectful of all that so many have done for Leo, whom none of you have met. Trust me…he is worth it…and Dr. Ellis, his very special personal Vet (mine too…heh…heh) is totally his head cheerleader!! Dr Ellis owns and loves her Civic Feline Clinic vet practice. Without her and her PAWSOME staff, Leo would not be with us right now…IMHFO (in my humble feline opinion)…I mean seriously, what Vet ever gives the peeps a personal mobile number over a long weekend in case they need help for Leo????!!!
Purrlease, visit their Face Book page and give them a great big “LIKE“…Civic Feline Face Book Page
Okey dokey…here are the photos you will so enjoy…
…Leo’s last feeding at Civic Feline Clinic with Mom Linda the very day she returned from her trip to Blog Paws..
…and now Leo coming back to us…his loving Foster Furramily…
…then after Ceiling Cat Daughter left…his new Hotel Suite…
AND NOW…THE BIGGEST NEWS OF ALL…THIS IS WHY YOU KEPT ON READING THIS PAWFUL LONG POST…HEH…HEH…
…yup! That was Leo eating some kibble…not enough yet…but we are all so encouraged!
Last but absolutely NOT LEAST…Leo’s personal vet clinic…the PAWSOME Civic Feline Clinic…
I so hope you hung in for the WHOLE post…if not…come back later and try a few more scrolls of the mousie thingy…just sayin’
This is for PepiSmartDogs Thankful Thursday Blog Hop…
WOW! That’s a great post. Our blog pals are just awesome and really rock! Hope Leo does real good with his treatments; he sure is a handsome guy!
Thank you for joining Thankful Thursday again. Hope you’ll give us all a Leo-update in this weeks Thankful Thursday. :=o)
My gosh, Savannah… Leo has quite the set-up at your house. It’s like a palace or somethin’. Bet he likes it there a lot.
Anywho… I don’t think your post was too long at all. Sometimes, we cats have a lot to say and when one has a lot to say… well… it takes time, you know? Plus, look at all the comments peeps and anipals left. They all read your post and – OBVIOUSLY – enjoyed doin’ so. They didn’t think your post was too long. They didn’t think that at all. Neither did I. If you ask me, it was the PERFECT length. Absolutely perfect.
Purrs,
Nissy
oh NIssy, you gave me and Mom leaky eyes…you are so supportive and we are so worried that I keep losing followers, and my comments are fewer and fewer…and Mom and I know it is because we aren’t getting round to visiting and commenting and we have been absent from Twitter and NipClub for ever so long…sigh…we will have to chose…either Twitter or Blog I guess…we don’t use FB for much it just all takes too long and too much time and I want Mom to play with me and snuggle and she wants to go to the gym and just enjoy being retired…sigh…any suggestions about what I can do to keep my bloggy going? paw hugs, Savvy
I’m not one to talk, these days. I am SO behind! So behind with the visiting. We can only do what we can do. We’ll have to put our heads together and think up a plan of some sort. Oh… but we’re gonna go on an adventure together, right? We’ve gotta get workin’ on that! purrs
This time MY comment got muched.
We’ve gotta work on our adventure. Let’s put our heads together….
Hi Savannah,
Please don’t fret over blog numbers cause they ebb and flow depending on what pals have going on in their own lives.
When you feel like spending more time blogging and tweeting, all your pals will still be there waiting for you. If you don’t feel up to it, take a load of and take a nap. You’ll have your blog for years, so don’t sweat the small stuff. :=o)
What a loving, devoted, loyal, and caring group of people we are all part of in this great cat loving community. How wonderful that so many have stepped in to help Leo out and what great news that he took some baby steps and ate some kibble on his own!
EEowww WOW diz waz a pawsum blog Savannah!!!!
We iz so happy so much moneey waz raised fer leo’z Vet bill!! WE iz also BERY happy he iz startin to nom kibble…it iz a start!!! He lookz so happy in his ‘hotel sweet’; blue iz such a lubly color fer him!!!
WE iz purrayin fer Leo to continewe to improve!
Lub Nylablue n Sherri-Ellen xo
Hiya Nylablue and Miss Sherri-E…I luv’d doing that post! Sadly, Leo is still only nibbling…but he is playful, grooms himself now, cuddles…my vet thinks he just forgot how to eat and needs time to relearn that process. They sedates him couple of weeks ago to look all around inside his mouth, his teeth, gums, throat, etc to make sure nothing wrong..and he is fine. Now we all think he is stubborn! So much easier to just have the food “show up” instead of having to actually munch on it MOL
Yow Sweet Savannah n Miss Linda: Dere iz alwayz sumfing to be gratefull fer 😉
Maybee Leo haz fergotten how to eat…sumtimez when me iz really sicklee me doez not eat n Mum sayz ‘Purrleeze don’t ferget how to eatz Nylablue….’ So diz cuud be leo’z problem…Mum suggested dat yer Mum cuud try sum yasty food…sumfing dat might make him wanna eat!! Mum sayz not Tuna-tuna tho’ cacuse it wuud make the Liver disease badder….We just keep purrayin fer Leo….
Lub Nylablue n her Mum xo
Savannah, I had to call Dad over as soon as I saw that this post was about Leo. We read every word, looked at every photo, and went to FB to give a Like.
Thanks for this update as we were wondering how our new pal is doing. This is also a very important post so that cats and their pawrents know how important it is to see a vet right away if a kitty stops eating for more than a day or so.
Purrs and we hope we see more long posts about Leo. Posts of him running and playing and being all better.
Timmy, Dad, and Family
OH! OMC!! you and Dad read it together??!! That is what Mom and I do every AM when she has her coffee in bed (Dad brings it up) and after Dad has served me my brekkies…then we spend time in bed reading new posts…pawsome! And yes, I fear that many cat guardians don’t realize that a cat can go into fatty liver syndrome within 3 days…and tube feeding is almost always the only recourse to bring the kitty back…we never ever knew about this….very scary
All the news about Leo is totally pawsome. What a trooper he’s been. We’re gonna keep praying that he eats more and more each day. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
It’s wonderful news that Leo has started to eat for himself!
The blogging community is amazing – the auction did so well.
YAY , for all the grean papers to Leo and YAY , for that Leo is eating some kibbles !
We have internet problem over here 😦
So that´s why I haven´t been commenting in a while.
Wish you a pawsome weekend !
XOXO
He’s eating by himself – I am so massively pleased!!! A brilliant end to the weekend
You made us smile from ear to ear with this marvellous post. Thank You 🙂
Wow Savvy! What a lot of great things to be thankful for! Especially that Leo is starting to eat!! We’re beside ourselves with joy for you!
Well, now Star, you and I both have a “Leo” to be irritated with…harrummmppfff…hope mine doesn’t hand around too long…purrrs, Savvy
Wow, Savvy! That sure is a lot of good news! Seriously, this blogosphere is full of such wonderful animals and peeps! We’re glad Leo is doing better and eating a little bit on his own. He’s got so many of us pulling for him…we know he’ll be better soon!
Tell your mom Linda that the mom says HI!!
Hey, hey , hey Zoey, Wally and Ernie!! Good to hear from you guys!! And yes, we have more hope. Leo is back to turning away from kibble, eats a few, less than 1/4 cup and then waits. He is now a REAL cat…he wants what he wants when he wants it…heh…heh…vet says he is being “stubborn” and we all agree…silly mancat! Mom Linda says she misses your Mom…paw hugs, Savvy
So pleased that Leo is looking so much better. Great that all the blogging furpals could come together and help one of their own. And good on all those especially our wonderful Mollie & Alfie & Misaki for jumping in and giving their time and talents to such a fantastic cause.
😀
I hope you know that we will require regular Leo updates from now on even when he goes to his furrever home.
ABSOLUTELY!! Mom already figured that would be in his adoption papers…”must do quarterly blog interviews”…woo hoo…PURRlease Zena, forgive me for being such a poor furriend and for not leaving comments…I try to read…try to comment here and there…sigh…hang head…pads off disappointed
So many blessings today Savvy…You are blessed to have so many wonderful friends and Leo is blessed to have you and all those hoomins helping him and Blogville is blessed to be such a wonderful community and one that Momz & I are blessed to be a part of…Seeing Leo eating that kibble makes it all worth while, doesn’t it? The pictures show how far he’s come…He’s a beautiful kitty and wherever he find his furever home he will be loved
oh Giz…thank you so much for coming to visit. I have lost so many of my readers/followers and I guess ‘cuz I don’t blog every day and I have been off the grid for a month on visiting others AND leaving comments. Truly, truly…Mom and I read every morning in bed when she has her coffee…Dad always brings it up every AM and they watch the news, read papers, blogs, and love on me…pawsome routine…anywho…I am having trouble getting Mom to stop playing and loving me, then feeding Leo, then playing and loving him then…well…you get the pic; right? I just can’t tell you how much I appreciate you coming by to visit and leave a comment. paw hugs, Savvy
That is so wonderful Savannah and I know Leo is thankful for y’all coming into his life.
Hey Brian…I hear from Mom Linda that the “actual” hat does NOT have a black band…heh…heh…wanna chat about doin’ a group interview??? send reply to Mom’s email lcrodgers at sbcglobal dot net
We are smiling from ‘ere to ‘ere … I mean ear to ear!! We are very happy that Leo is doing better and that there are so many triff and brill peeps out there 🙂 Savvy, I made mum read to the very end as I wanted to know effurry fing 🙂
love Austin xx
Austin!! Can you believe that of the first 7 donations, 5 were from outside the USA??!!! How Pawsome is that??!! I am sorry I am not around…will be again over next week. Leo is still only eating less than a 1/4 cup of kibble a day…so we are just starting the turn around a corner…and he requires lots of time to not only feed…but he now is so much better he needs lots of cuddle time and play time too…which of course…SO DO I!!!..stomps paws
I came to say hello and thanks for visiting. You asked my age, I am 12 and have renal failure. heart failure and high blood pressure. 8 months ago I was very ill and all were diagnosed then, With medication I have been really good but at the moment am not too good and not eating. I am glad to read that your Leo is doing better and purr he will be well soon. Great post. Hugs GJ x
oh sweet GJ; I am so very sad to learn of your diagnosis. I know hufamily will keep you comfortable and you will tell them when you are ready to cross to the bridge. Enjoy your special snuggles with Mum and Dad
Whoa! He ate! That’s wonderful. Bet he’d eat some of that Taste of the Wild that Mario sent me with Venison. It’s the food of the Gods. Leo reminds me so much of both my mancats: Parker and Buzz. Sigh. I think I’m in love again.
MOL!! CK you could’a saved some of that Wild noms and sent it to Leo!! So far he won’t touch soft food of any kind.
So much wonderful news! Leo was a really lucky boy, in the midst of his problems, to find such wonderful people to take care of him.
Purrs,
The Chans
shuffling paws…pink ears…awww…it’s nothing you guys…and I hope you will all forgive me for being absent for so very long from your comment queue. We read, but we don’t comment…Leo has about shut me down for a month now…but it’s looking up! YEA!

Mom totally read the whole thing with me, and our favorite part was Leo EATING! Such a brave boy. Such a patient, loving family. Such loyal, caring friends. Perfect!!
Love and lots of licks,
Cupcake
Woo hoo for Leo keep going Leo!!!xx Speedy
Good he started to eat again! Lost my Mashka in 2011 because she did not. It was her 4th time to stop eating and while I rushed her to hospital and she got antibiotic treatment it was too late this time. I hope Leo’s fate is better and he will never STOP eating his meals again! It is so sad to lose a cat like that. OK, it is always sad to lose one. She was just 5. I followed Leo’s fate because of this, hoping this kitty makes it. So glad to see he did. Keep going, Leo!
This is one of the most awesome Thankful Thursday posts ever, Savannah! I think Leo’s plight touched just about everyone who read about him. I mean, how can anyone NOT pull for a cat who was rejected because he was “too affectionate?” This is all great news, but the BEST news of all is that Leo is starting to eat again! Paws crossed that he continues to improve!
This has made my day (as I sit in the London office after a stressful day) reading that Leo is finally eating 🙂
Wow Savvy, that’s an amazing amount of money, although we know it’s nowhere near as much as you’ve already had to spend. We take our hats off to you for doing what’s right for Leo who looks, by the way, quite adorable lying on the bed with his paws crossed. I am so glad to hear that he is starting to eat kibble now. Such fantastic news. Great thank you post to some of the most wonderful bloggers out there.
Oh, crikey, Mummy Janey has got the sniffles again. You all ROCK !!!!!
The REAL Maple Syrup Mob
xxxxx
Oh, sweet Savannah just amazing what our blog friends did to help out sweet Leo. One would be hard pressed to find nicer and more caring people than the cat and dog bloggers. We are sorry we missed out on everything but sure thankful Leo has made such progress. We are looking forward to hearing when he is eating great and doing super well. Hugs and nose kisses for you all from all of us!!
This post was well worth reading! Nothing like a wonderful story to kick off our day. We’re starting to think that humans might not be so bad, after all, MOL.
And we are dancing with joy that Leo’s appetite is returning!!! HURRAH!!!!!!!
Doesn’t matter how much he ate – it’s a fine starting point! Super news indeed 😀
Wonderful news! What a great Thankful Thursday post! XOXO
That’s so fantastic! Incredibly pleased to hear that he ate by himself, that’s such good news! Keep up the good work Leo!!
And that’s fantastic that so much money was raised in the end!! Shows what we can do when we all pull together 🙂

He ATE??? Even a tiny bit? That is most stupendous, awesome, fantastic, terrific news EVER! Purrs purrs purrs and more purrs!
Wonderful news and he’s definatley looking much perkier.
Leo ate some kibble? That’s good news! It’s a long road to recovery, and Leo is so lucky to have foster parents like yours to help him get better. Keep eating, Leo. We know you can do it!
We’re so happy that the blogging community has come together to help a special cat like Leo, too. The power of social media is amazing, isn’t it?
We wish we lived nearer than across the country so we could offer Leo a forever home that would keep him on the blogosphere. Cousin Earl will be looking for a new buddy cat soon (we’ll post about that in the next week, probably), and Leo sure sounds like he would be a great part of anyone’s family.
It’s so good to see Leo up and around, eating a little bit! I teared up a little at the amount raised, that’s so awesome to see so many people care!
The best news I have heard, Leo eating kibble!!!!!!!!!! I think now that Leo is in his comfortable Hotel Suite with that awesome window and people and you to love and watch over him, well, I think Leo is going to get all better!
Paw pats on the backs to you all…Wow what a beautiful thing to see Leo eating kibble..my eyes are leaking again for this week …but good ones this time..Onwards and upwards to Leo and the love most of all that he gets from his foster family..it is a hard and sometimes emotionally fraught thing to be a foster carer, i am on a break because of it,but this reminds me why i want to do it again. Love and blessings to all who care 🙂 Fozziemum
Sometimes the world is just a gorgeous place – with wonderful people. I’m so glad that Leo could eat some kibble. I think he enjoyed the place on the bed and the Bird TV. Thanks for being such a great Foster-Family for Leo.
Thats a great post. It is good to be thankful, whee noticed so much of the bloggy community jumped in and it really makes us proud to be a part of it.
And well done Leo!!! See noms is delicious! You should eat it lots!
Nibbles, Nutty, Buddy & Basil
xxxx
WOWZER MEOWZER Savvy! That’s absolutely wonderful – not just that pile of cash that will help take care of Leo’s expenses BUT the fact he nibbled some kibble too! YAY LEO! Oh I know we ALL hope that he continues to eat on his own because he is such a sweet and loving kitty who needs a forever home (even though I’m sure he loves his foster home too). I know Leo appreciates all the LUV he gets from your Mom and Dad and the good doctor – and hopefully he can feel all the LOVE vibrations all of us have been sending to him. Thanks for thanking all of us who helped in any way to get the word out that Leo and you all needed help. WE ARE FAMILY.
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
