How tolerant must I be?

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

As you all know, that little foster kit is back again. Bummer to say the least!

Wait! What? You want ME to be more TOLERANT? ppfftttt!!!

I think I am the epitome of “tolerant”. I mean look, I did put TKS through her paces when she first ~~shoved~~ moved herself into my castle. But hey! I have Mom L so I donated Dad P to TKS. They seem to like the decision I made.

And NOW—they want me to accept another youngster running around my castle?? No sireeee!!! Not happening. Why I have had to get Mom L to warm a bit of water just so’s I can gargle to soothe my overused throat. I ask you, just how many hisses, snarls, guttural growls and sheer screeches does this kid Katie need from me?!!! I need her to learn I NEED MY SPACE!!!

“Mom L, could you get me some more warm water? I feel another need to growl and hiss coming on.”

There, see what I mean. I have to be on duty day and night now that Mom L and Dad P are letting that Katie cat have the run of my castle.

Why even TKS is havin’ her own problems with this returned foster kit.

What??? Is that kit Katie on the other end of my fevver??

See what I mean?? TKS didn’t realize that kit Katie was havin’ her own fun with the feathery end of that peacock fevver. What a shock to TKS’ system to learn kit Katie was only like two feet away from her!

What did you say Mom L? Oh, well I guess TKS doesn’t need her eyesight checked but I’m sure she didn’t realize that she was gonna have to share that fevver!

Hey big cat! Wanna play with me?

And now Mom L and Dad P are lettin’ this kit Katie roam all over my castle! Why I had to watch while she mauled my favorite Nip Nanner!!

I just adore this Nip Nanner. Is this mine?

Friday Memes and Happy Tails Endings

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

My Friday memes will begin my happy tails ending to a story you have all been following.

A question Mom L and Dad P hoped had “yes” for the answer, as did Katie. Neither of our foster kittens wanted to be without the other. A dilemma when you take foster kittens to an adoption site that doesn’t pay attention to how bonded some pairs are. But Mom L and Dad P were able to get space for both girls at my former shelter home, Contra Costa Humane Society’s Kitty Corner!

And that was certainly NOT Katie’s first thoughts when Mom L and Dad P dropped them off at Kitty Corner. Katie didn’t want to leave her carrier so they left it there for a whole day so she could use it as her safety place.

You can see that Lilly kept returning to Katie’s carrier to make sure Katie was ok. And Lilly kept look out for any potential intruders. But after a few days, Lilly was out and about making new friends.

But precious shy Katie found herself a hidey spot, up high so she could keep her eyes on whatever was going on down below and it was also near the often open door with a screen so she could smell the fresh air. Lilly again checked on her throughout each day and often snuggled in with Katie for her naps.

When Dad P visited he found Katie in her hidey spot and she was grateful for his soft warm touch.

The staff told us that Katie was seen coming out at night to eat some dry food and use the litter box. She would even explore Kitty Corner a bit as well. But as soon as the first staff person opened the door—zip! She was back up in her hidey spot for the day.

The kitties all get some wet food once a day at Kitty Corner and as you can see, Lilly liked to eat her dish on the floor and then dash up to join Katie for her serving!! But, Katie started to eat some wet food when Lilly joined her. Katie is a social eater and prefers to have Lilly share her bowl of food. Katie and Lilly were at Kitty Corner for just two weeks before a very special family arrived, looking for Katie. They saw Katie on Contra Costa Humane Society’s website and the Dad especially fell for her and wanted to meet her. They knew that they could ONLY be adopted together so they were curious to meet Lilly too.

This family has two elementary aged children, both of whom kept their voices calm and quiet while visiting Kitty Corner. Big plus for Katie and Lilly!!! The parents also made sure their two children stroked Lilly and Katie softly from head slowly down to tail.

When the father saw Katie it was love at first sight. He stood next to her and gave her lots of pets. When he stopped, Katie reached her neck out so he could get to her head easier!! She invited him for more pets!!

The Mom and children were loving playing with rambunctious Lilly. After talking for some time with the adoption counselors where they learned of the medical challenges both Lilly and Katie faced and that Katie has juvenile gingivitis, they asked to fill out the adoption application! YES!!

Katie and Lilly have been adopted TOGETHER!!!

Mom L and Dad P both had leaky eyes they were so grateful that Katie and Lilly had found such a truly special family to call their very own. And they do get to live happily ever after together!!

I can’t thank all of you who shared our appeal for help with the unexpected cost of Katie and Lilly’s medical care. Your willingness to help us spread the word and in some cases even donate, mean tons to me and Mom L and Dad P.

Our Fosters and Colony Update

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I decided as I have introduced you to our foster kittens as well as the twenty-seven member cat colony Mom L and Dad P help feed and care for, that it is time for a little update on both.

But first let me just tell you an embarrassing secret I have. Shhhhhh—don’t tell your humans—especially if they are active in cat rescue like Mom L, but—I so want these foster kittens to be GONE!!

THERE!!! I said it!!! I am starting to take out my stress and frustration over not being allowed in Mom L’s office on The Kid Sage. So not her fault. But she is the only cat I can ready and give a smacky paw to when I am frustrated.

Sorry TKS that I whapped you kind’a hard this morning

Mom L had to break me off of TKS so’s she could find cover. I really am starting to have a tough time having these kids here much longer. That said, I know they need help and we are all still doing our best to give them that help.

Here is a nice photo of several of the twenty seven community cats who call River View Park home. This colony increased tons when our California housing market crashed between 2008-2012. Humans drove by the park and dumped their cats when they didn’t want to take them to a new home once the humans had to give their homes back to the big banks. I know that lots of folks like to tell the ~~tail~~ tale that our “economy” is all recovered—but I want them to come explain that to all these cats that were abandoned by humans during that time.

See that orange dude in front? That’s Garfield who is at least twelve to fourteen years old. He has lived in this colony since before 2006. He is losing weight and gets extra wet food every day. Mom L took him to Community Concern 4 Cats Clinic a couple of months ago and found his blood work was OK but his toofies are really bad. We are hoping to raise $400 USD to cover his upcoming dental cleaning.

Opal is a diluted tortie who is so afraid for upsetting any other cat that she only comes to eat as the others move away. As you can see, her winter coat is already on and every so stylish!!

As for our foster kittens, let me give you a bit of information about Katie, who is about ten months old. She is pretty healthy, but we just learned she has juvenile gingivitis which can lead to stomatitis which would mean she might lose all her teeth in the next year or two. She also has a limp that appears to be a birth defect or some injury that occurred at the cat hoarder home where Mom L found her at about five months old. Remember, Katie had been lactating and had kittens by that age. None survived.

Katie is such a sweet love bug. Timid and needs time to trust but once she does, she just has the best purr motor ever!!

And guess what?? Spitty and his human gifted our foster kittens with a toy!! Spitty told his human to just pass this toy along to younger kitties and boy are Katie and Lilly happy his human did!

Whapping three layers of balls!!

Katie and Lilly will start going to an adoption event this coming weekend, please send your best more pawerful POTP to them that they find their forever home together. They have become very bonded.
