Foster Kittens Update!

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

You may all remember my blog post about Snipping A Budding Cat Colony. That was my first introduction of the two, and eventually the three kittens, who became our fosters.

The beginning of our foster experience started with Mom L and Dad P offering to help the caretakers of the Snipped Budding Cat Colony. Next thing TKS and I knew Mom L was bringing the two five-month-old boy cats into MY CASTLE!!

I had to let my readers know about this outrage in my blog post about becoming fosters! The very idea of some cats living with Mom L in my her our office!

The two boys, Rocky, the tuxie boy, and Jessie, the white and black boy, were restricted to an enclosure for a day or so. They were not happy as they had been living in the great outdoors.

These two crazy pants boy cats were soon ripping around My Mom L’s OUR office, knocking stuff off our desk and right down into their water bowl!! (please hover over photos for kitten captions)

They liked to keep an eye on the neighborhood and check out what the neighbor dogs and cats were up to.

Did you see that Rocky? Yeah Jessie, unreal, huh?

Rocky and Jessie were none too impressed with their first experience at a Petco adoption event.

Hey Jessie? Don’t ya wanna just break outta here?

They had to stay caged for three hours two days in a row. You can see how exhausted they were after such a traumatic experience.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

Mom L convinced Dad P that they really ought to bring the sister, gray and white Chloe, to my castle as well so’s they could socialize her even more. Next thing I knew, she showed up!

Chloe wasn’t too sure about her brothers.

Get away from my butt buddy!

It was three weeks since they last saw each other. But soon Rocky Rockstar had her playing with him. I am sure she never thought he would be so bold as to try to share her new fave napping spot on the cat tower.

Gee whiz brother, stop being a bed hog!

Can you tell what a harummpf Chloe was in with brazen Rocky! And then look at them just a few minutes later.

Can’t beat ’em, join ’em

Before long they were all kitten piled in the same cat tower. You can see it was a bit over crowded!!

The weekend adoption events were not gonna be possible any longer because Mom L and Dad P were headed off for a week away. They couldn’t keep the kittens. What to do, what to do??

Kazamm!! Contra Costa Humane Society had enough space in their Kitty Corner for the three siblings to ALL go there. They were to share a special suite with another kitten named Smokey.

They were nervous at first.

But last we heard, they were hanging out, playing and they had pulled shy Smokey out of her hiding hole and she was right there in the midst of them all!

Paw crossed these three former foster kittens are adopted in a nod and a wink! We have put together a small Adoption To Go kit for each which has brand new versions of their favorite toys from my castle. Here are the photos Kitty Corner used on their website.

Here’s Rocky Rockstar!

Next up is Chloe Cutie Pie.

And the ever suave Jessie da’ Man!

I’ll let ya know when they are adopted.

Monday Meowsie News: We Are Fosters!

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Yep, you heard me right. Mom L and Dad P agreed to let me and TKS foster the two brothers from my blog post Part One: Snipping a Budding Cat Colony!!

Here are the two brothers, five months old, that TKS and I asked to foster. Aren’t they just darling!! Why I could simply turn them both into white kitties with my very special HHHSSSSSSSSS!

First up is Rocky “Rock Star”!

And next is Jessie “James”!

These two little cutie pies have been residing in my very special, healing and comforting palace for ONLY FOUR days, and already they have become more bonded and way more social with just about any biped that comes into their sanctuary AKA My Office!.

Yep, that’s them after their first day ever at a Petco Cat Adoption event. They hugged and groomed each other and then finally Rocky just hung his right paw around Jessie’s neck to let Jessie know “I got’chur back bro'”!

So Rocky and Jessie are living in my palace until the end of October. After that, I am not sure what else we can do to get them adopted. You see, I am not very happy with new kitties in my palace and I am not eating and starting to upchuck my food more often. And even TKS is not playing as much as she used to.

For now, I have asked Mom L if I can take a break from my blog and she agreed. I know I have been ever so absent from all my pals blogs’ comments and visits for over the last two years. So there is lots more going on for me than just the fosters. I think I have run “outta juice” so to speak. Not much more for me to share with all my few readers that is interesting. So unless I can come up with a blog content that is worthy of growing my readership, I may take a final bow, drop that mike and say “thank you” for sticking with me for my short time living in Blogville.

Hope to see you all in future.

Snipping a Budding Cat Colony

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I told you on my last blog post that I had a Monday Meowsie News story coming about Katie the Cat who is looking for her permanent home.

Hi! I am Katie the Cat

Truth be known, Katie was actually the beginning of what could have become a fast-growing community cat colony. But, thanks to Dad P’s quick thinking and Community Concern 4 Cats fast acting, that colony is no longer gonna happen.

I do like my inside and outside opportunities. A gal needs her fresh air

Thankfully, Katie’s original family had the good sense to have her spayed before they moved away and left her to fend for herself. Lucky for Katie she found some really kind and caring humans who offered her food and a safe, dry and warm place to live in their garden. She prefers to be able to come and go as she pleases, but I suspect if she were an only kitty, she would simply adore being with her forever human most.  Just my feline opinion, ya know?

Now about the cat colony that almost was! You see because Katie was being fed outside, another couple of young kitties showed up to dine with her. They were a young brother and sister from a litter the humans knew had been born in someone else’s yard. Neither had been spayed or neutered so you can guess what happened, right? (do be sure to hover over the photos to view the captions to learn who is who)

Yep! Piper and her brother mated. This incest mating caused Piper to deliver six kittens in her caretakers’ bedroom closet! Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, three of those kittens were so malformed, without limbs or overly large and whatnot, that they were stillborn. Three kittens survived.

Piper is a great Mom Cat and the human caretakers made sure she and the kittens got lots of food and water and dry safe places to sleep outside. Piper even enjoys being inside and lounging on her male human’s lap!

Long story short—enter Dad P going around our town home complex to let our new neighbors know he was running for our Home Owners Association, Board of Directors.

He met the kitties’ caretakers and noticed all the cats and asked “are these your cats?”. The answer was—“well, not really. We just started feeding them.”

And there was the budding cat colony! So Dad P let Mom L know where the cats were and they both went to talk with the caretakers to learn what we could do to help.

Bottom line is—in less than ten days, Mom L had Mom Cat Piper and her four kittens, all four months old, set up with appointments at CC4C’s new Cat Clinic for spay/neuter, Vet checks, vaccinations, FeLV testing (negative all)!! (more about this wondrous new clinic in another post…don’t miss it!).

Sweet Jessie also had a hernia and CC4C took care of that as well.

Now about darling Katie. Mom L and her caretaker Miss Tonya took Katie to the clinic for a checkup and vaccinations and testing for FeLV when they went to collect all the spay/neuters.  Katie is now all set to go up for adoption too!

Can you see my opposite orange and black furs?

All cats are now recovered and ready for adoption!!

Please, please SHARE SHARE SHARE this blog post to help all of these now “NOT a budding cat colony” cats find their permanent loving homes?

Last but never least! Check back for Part Two of “Snipping a Budding Cat Colony” on my Monday, October 9 blog post. Learn what was the REAL driver to helping this “almost a cat colony” start.
