Monday Meowsie News

I have had so many new experiences and new behaviors happen this past week, where to start, where to start….hmmmm…pats paw up, down, up, down, up, down…ok, ok, I have 3 things…

First…you know Dad and I have been working on this ‘bonding’ thingy…

So in the morning now, completely routine, I trot, yes, yes…I really do trot…right after him…talking to encourage him all the way. And when he gets my brekkie ready, I follow right on his heels and let him pet me while I eat.

What is really new is a beginning routine at dinner time too.

Yesterday, first time I ever did this at dinner time…I was taking a rest on my Bird Watching Tower. Dad came down the stairs, said “Hi Savvydo, do you want your dindin?”…my head literally whipped up, jerked around, I dove off the tower and beat him to the kitchen.  Dad was happy!!!  And I waited impatiently while he got my dindin and I let him pet me again while I ate…mmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

Second, Mom and I resurrected(vocab builder) an old toy of mine (course all of mine are only 7 mnths old…but old is still relative, right?). It is a wand toy, with some purple feathers on it.

She starts to wave the little purple feathers across the floor…and WHAM!!! I took off after them like lightening…and I ran and ran and ran and chased and chased and chased those feathers…then she pulled them after her into the hallway and I followed and ran some more…

I was panting, loving it…we did that for about 30 minutes until I just laid flat out next to my scratching post…pooped!!!!!!! Great time!!!

Third, and the BEST EVER!!! MOM MADE UP A NEW GAME CALLED CHASE THIS MORNING…AND I TOTALLY FLABBERGASTED (BIG VOCAB BUILDER) HER!! We did it with the little purple feather wand…

It started with me at the bottom of the stairs…Mom was at the top…

…Mom started pulling the purple feathers up the stairs, and I got interested, and padded softly up to sneak up on them…she then pulled them to the end of the hall upstairs..I padded after…

…Mom turned around and went back to the stairs, and down…with me now in hot pursuit of those purple feathers…

…I caught them at the bottom of the entry stairs, in the downstairs hallway…so we played a bit there…

…then Mom took off down the hallway and into the kitchen…then through to the dining room, on into the living room…back to the downstairs hallway…we did that big circle a couple times…then I changed the rules…

…so down the hall…

…into the kitchen…note the wet bar on the left. That opens into the living room…emmmhmmm…

…it didn’t take me more than 2 times around to figure out I could cut out some of the running if I just zipped into the living room and hopped on the wet bar to wait for Mom to come through on the other side in the kitchen…SMART CAT, huh???!!!!!!!!!!!….(never, ever, counter surfed before)…startled Mom so much she squeeked when she saw me…MOL..

…so this is the rest of the circuit…through the kitchen…

…see the door there by the textile hanging???…that is to the kitchen…from the dining room

…then through the dining room into the living room…

…through the living room back to the entry hallway…

…after about 6 times, I threw myself down in our bedroom door and said “UNCLE”!!!…

Mom was relieved ‘cuz she hasn’t been to the gym for about 2 weeks now, so she was huffing and puffing…

Isn’t that the best ever race track for our GAME OF CHASE!!!

I can’t believe I did that…neither can Mom…we both can’t wait to tell Dad when he gets home…I think I am liking this being an indoor family cat…yup, really nice…purrrrr…

B4TC…A Person Who Is The Change for Animals

Hey Guys!  Sorry to be late today…but I have been story boarding this post for hours with Mom. I am so excited to be pawticipating for the very first time in the B4TC event!!!

You already know I am totally focused on helping people learn about the joys of adopting cats, dogs, and whatever pets they may want.  But I focus on blogging about cats and dogs, ‘cuz…welll….ahhhhh…let’s see….ummmm….first, I AM A CAT! Second…Mom used to have DOGS…that’s what we know most about…

I understand that B4TC is focused on talking about how we can “BE THE CHANGE FOR ANIMALS”…so, I am gonna try to do that.

My post today is about a PERSON, a DOG, and some PILOTS…and of course, a teeny little bit about me and my rescue…trust me…this all TOTALLY ties together.

People who ARE the Change for Animals are peeps who dedicate time, energy, resources and love to making good things happen for us cats and dogs who need rescuing and fostering and being adopted into our furrever homes.

My story today is about a Miss Tammy…who was the person who snatched me from the public shelter literally hours before I was to be …ummm…ya know…like, ended.  Ahemm…she took me home, fostered me until a private no kill cat shelter could find space for me.

That is how I ended up at Kitty Corner where Dad and Mom found me, the rest you already know.

Miss Tammy is THE PERSON…who IS THE CHANGE FOR ANIMALS…she volunteers at our county shelter, at my former private shelter, and she works with this great organization called PILOTS AND PAWS.

Miss Tammy was invited to contribute to a book just out called DOG Is My Co-Pilot, by Patrick Regan.

The book…

…is brilliant!!!…check out this inside cover…Mr Whitman could not have said it better…

Miss Tammy helped rescue a sweet little Daschund, Sammie.  She fostered him and then helped get him to the plane so he could be flown to his furrever home…from Nor Calif to So Calif…

Sammie’s story is not a good one…this is what they wrote in his ‘bio’ when he was trying to find a furrever home…

“Sammie was rescued August 7, 2009, from his neglectful owners. He had some sort of trauma to his hind end which was not taken care of and it turned in to a full blown infection. The vet believed he was bitten by another dog. By the time we got him to a vet his tail was barely hanging on by a thread and his anus was just one giant infection.

The vet spent hours removing his tail and reconstructing a new anus. He was on heavy antibiotics and is now doing great. He is a very friendly, social, happy boy. Sammie is great with everybody including cats and other dogs, big and small.

Sammie has been neutered, microchipped and updated on his vaccines. We need a VERY caring person (or Rescue group) to take him is because he may be a little incontinent due to the nature of his condition and he also might need surgery again in the future. He is still currently wearing an e-collar. Sammie is a total “wiggle-butt” and needs a lifelong, caring new home.”

Now, his story ends really well…but first, check out Sammie…isn’t he just the cutest dude!!…so pawsomely handsome!!!

Long story short (you could get the book and read pages 104 to 107)…Sammie made two flights…one that didn’t work out afterall…but the RETURN FLIGHT…landed him SMACK DAB in his furrever home with Miss Tammy….YEA SAMMIE!!!

Can you find him in his pile of plushy toys???…

Sammie and Miss Tammy pawticipate in the local Humane Society’s Paws to Read…it is a children’s program which helps kids in primary school improve their reading skills…check out Sammie and Miss Tammy with this little girl…

That is what it takes to BE THE CHANGE FOR ANIMALS…Miss Tammy is my PERSON, Sammie is THE DOG, and PILOTS AND PAWS are the, well…obvious (vocab builder) isn’t it???…they are THE PILOTS…

Finally, the teeny bit about me…and Miss Tammy and her living the change for animals. Remember this photo of me…my intake photo at the county shelter…

Because a PERSON is dedicating her life to BEING THE CHANGE FOR ANIMALS…I now look like this…

Thank you Miss Tammy…and Paw Pats for sweet Sammie and all those Pilots

Another Secret…No One Suspected

You may recall, I ended my post yesterday with a bit of a teaser, saying…

“You are totally not going to wanna miss this one…I am going to “open my fur coat” as we cats say (we don’t do kimonos)…and share a secret, a never before witnessed hidden pleasure in which I often indulge…just sayin’…you are gonna wanna see this…emmmhmmm!”

I have thought a lot about revealing my secret. If my former shelter caretakers thought I did not like to play, HA!, then they will be totally gobsmacked (vocab builder) to learn my secret…

Of course I am not the first cat to reveal a secret in a bloggy post.

CC, over at Katnip Lounge, quietly revealed he has a secret in his June 21 post…he let it slip past his lips that “if Mommy spanks my bottom I’m in heaven“…I meowed out to Mom…”OH THE SHOCK OF IT!!! A SPANKING CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”…I was stunned….ahem…sort’a

The video reveals it all…my fur coat is open…paws covering eyes, shaking head, low moaning…soft mewing…OH COD! I can’t help it….I just luvluvluv it!!!!!!!!!!!…(peeEss…ya might not want cats younger than a year watching this video, not rated yet…)

…Listen closely…

YES…YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST!!!!!!!!!!  CC IS NOT THE ONLY SPANKING CAT BLOGGING!!!  I am proud to have such company as CC…this is nothing for any of us to be embarrassed about!! (sorry about the pink starfish shot, Mom couldn’t move fast enough to avoid it…blushing…)

Miss Bernadette over at The Creative Cat shared with me that she uses the Fab Four’s butts like a set of bongo drums…so there!

I showed you only PART of my morning ritual with Mom yesterday…getting my special scritches…after that…Mom alternates between spanking out a tune on my butt, to doing our “bouncy butt” routine where she bounces my butt up and down from the top…then she goes back to spanking little tunes…mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…nice…sigh…

(waving paw in front of face)…whew…glad I got that one off my tail…so to speak…I would like to invite any of you cats or dogs or guinea pigs, etc., out there…to leave a comment on my post if you also share CC’s and my luv of getting spanks from our peeps…no harm…no shame…no foul

…just sayin’…
