Create a Happy Tail Ending for Starlight

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I know it is kitten season across most of the USA and for sure it is right here where I live in Northern California’s San Francisco bay area. So it makes it real hard for this darling three year old cat Mom L recently pulled from the established cat colony she is helping manage, care for and feed. This little girl is so petite, and incredibly friendly which is what drew Mom L to her as soon as she first noticed her in the colony.

Likely the kitty was abandoned at the city park where this colony resides and she was trying to make a place for herself with the colony. Mom L noticed her first because she was so little, then because she was friendly and finally because she was having to tussle with some of the bigger cats to get her place at the meal table.

So Mom L picked her up and plopped her in a carrier and off she went to Contra Costa Animal Services where she received her name “Starlight”. PURRFECT!! Don’t ya think??

She managed the car ride and carrier pretty good.

Mom L has been workin’ with Starlight but the best part is all the support Starlight is gettin’ from the dedicated cat volunteers at my former shelter home. Yes, that’s right. I spent about two months at this very same shelter before I was transferred to a not for profit rescue with a free roaming cat shelter…but enough of me.

Starlight had lots to tell Mom L when Mom L visited her for the first time at the shelter.

Starlight has a growing fan club at the shelter and no one can believe that she is still waiting for her true family to find her. Why just check out how cute her little dainty paws are!! She is very small, weighing only about six pounds.

Mom L can’t pull many more friendly adult cats from the established colony ‘cuz it is kitten season. Most people going to the shelter are looking for kittens so they overlook a precious adult like Starlight.

Here come the memes…and the memes keep marching along…

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Let’s get right to it…of course this means featuring ME!!

You know I am the total real deal when it comes to how well a carpet can assist a cat in getting her/his play on…right??

And yes, I am still finding lots of time to play with Mom L and Dad P up and down my beloved carpeted stairs, even with my art-right-us!!

Now for a couple of memes from my community cat colony residents. Mom L was feeding them and captured these great seconds which make community cats just like any other cat!!

The two cats so enjoy dining together and they often intertwine their tails just before joining the dining table together.

The following silly mancat loves to show off his tummy tuck!!

All the cats seem to enjoy watching his antics after he dines.

Don’t Miss This Happy Tail Ending

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Do you remember my blog post a week or so ago about darling Koko? Another “friendly” colony cat Mom L collected to set on the path to adoption. If you recall, he was returned and things were not easy for Koko after being ignored by his adopter for two months before they returned him to the shelter.

Well, Dad P and Mom L were visiting him every other day at Pet Food Express where he was moved to by the shelter. A great location for him but he still languished and remained in hiding. The staff are all cat savvy and expert adoption counselors, but they began to fear he might need to go back to the shelter as he didn’t appear to be making progress. But they agreed to keep him another week. Thank Ceiling Cat they did!! Slowly Koko began to stick his head out of his cubby hiding spot.

He moved closer to the opening and was now keeping his eye open, not shut tight to close out the world.

So the last time Mom L and Dad P saw Koko, they were visiting him as usual. But as they approached the enclosure where he and Gemma were housed, they thought their eyes were playing tricks on them. There was Koko, out of his hiding place, walking tall and proud across a bench in his enclosure!!! Mom L was so stunned she forgot to even take a photo.

Now just what managed to get Koko to gain confidence enough to stroll around his enclosure?? Go on, what do you think happened?

Come’on…just take my paw and let’s go home

Ok, I’ll tell you. We all feared that as more and more kittens were being moved from the shelter to the location where Gemma and Koko were that people would really ignore them. They are after all adults and black.

HAH!!

Here is who gave Koko his mojo back!! KITTENS!!!!

When the staff placed three kittens in the same enclosure with Koko and Gemma. Koko decided they needed a big brother to show them around! It was amazing! He had been out and about and even drew the attention of not one, not two but THREE potential adopters!

Mom L and Dad P went in to visit him and lo and behold, he PLAYED with a feather toy with Mom L! The video is only 17 seconds and worth the watch!

Koko even allowed Mom L to take him onto her lap and he didn’t try to leave! What a change.

I got you little feather!

Koko was adopted about two hours after Mom L and Dad P left him that day. A nice woman who knows cats fell in love with Koko and the staff did a thorough vetting of her before they all agreed that Koko had indeed found his forever home.
