Monday Meowsie News

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Lots of stuff going on around my castle since last Monday. Some of ordinary like me hissing a The Kid Sage and her tryin’ to get a whiffy of my butt, etc.  You all know how that goes, right??

Anywho…I have had my own moments of getting older start to show up. Mom L caught me comin’ down the stairs just as I staggered and fell on my left hip. My left knee is pretty bad with that arty-right-us stuff. Can any of you relate???

Nonetheless, I can still play on my carpeted stairs and I am developing my own personalized work out on my couch stairs too. Just give me a shout out if you want my new Savannah’s Short Step Workout video.

After a work out like that I need some time to just chill out, meditate and enter my own personalize “Zen” zone.

Zen cat

The Zen state is described as “the state of “no-mindness”. That is, a mind not fixed or occupied by thought or emotion and thus open to everything.”

Seriously, what cat can’t relate to THAT notion!!???? Let me know in comments how you get into your own personal ” Zen Zone”.

And this last week has seen some changes in The Kid Sage. She is succumbing to the wiles of our “foster” kid Kit Katie. Yes, yes…I know it is unbelievable but I have actually witnessed them doing “thundering head of elephants” at four AM!! Back and forth up and down the upstairs hallway. Sheeesh. They even head butt each other and TKS allows Katie to sidle up to her and rub against her. Thankfully the humans have NO photo evidence of this but I tell you it is real!

But you can tell that TKS is proud of her ability to be flexible enough to accept Kit Katie.

Wait! What? I didn’t say I was softie!!

Ok, well maybe TKS is still trying to avoid being a “softie” but hey, she just chills whenever Kit Katie is around. What more can I say.

Yeah, yeah…so I let Kit Katie have my last treat…big deal!

So, Kit Katie will remain with us until she can get past her problematic health challenges. Mom L and Dad P have been out a lot more green papers trying to get her leaky right eye treated. It will likely always leak but at least now she seems more comfortable. We will leave Katie posted on three websites but we are not longer taking her to any adoption events. She simple cannot withstand the stress. It challenges her immune system.

This is why Kit Katie will no longer be hosted at the end of my blog. Just want you all to know she is safe with us.

Friday Memes From the Young’uns

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Well I just had to let the two young’uns in my castle take over the memes today. They really are something to watch. Why I believe Kit Katie may have TKS buffaloed. I put their interaction today into a slideshow with captions for your Friday smiles!

So do you guys think Kit Katie has TKS on her tippy toes? Your reactions in comments please.

And of course our Kit Katie castle guest had to have one of her very own. In fact, this meme cost Mom L to lose at least one or more of her own Kitty Nine Lives.

Yup, all of us girls have now given Mom L her very own special heart attack, gasp of breath experience by walking on the wild side of the banister.

So what do you think TKS was watching that made her rivet her eyes on it? Come on , give me your best guess in comments and I promise Mom L will reveal what TKS was watching like it was a horror show!!!

PeeEss…please be sure to grab Kit Katie’s badge and help us find her the special forever castle she so deserves. She goes in for an X-ray of her front right leg to learn why she has a limp. Mom L and Dad P believe that one front leg may be shorter than the other. No matter, nothing holds Kit Katie back!!

Why did you return us? Update Katie and Lilly

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Getting right to the point—Katie and Lilly were returned to Contra Costa Humane Society on Wednesday, February 20. They were adopted by a young family that just knew these two bonded young cats were purrfect for their family. They were adopted on January 11. This family had the girls for five weeks.

First up, let’s get past the blame. Let’s all look at how we manage the adoption counseling process for kittens. adult cats who have been fostered by loving care givers. This family thought they could manage having the older girl being shy and they would win her over. They could teach their very young children how to play carefully with the younger girl. None of that proved doable. No one is to “blame”.

But, how do we help kittens and adult cats who have suffered trauma at the hands of humans get adopted by truly willing and caring guardians who are committed to the cats they adopt for the long term? Give me your thoughts in comments please! We need to get better at selecting adoptive families!!

Truth be told, Mom L and Dad P and I have no idea. Everyone tried to do their best. But in the long and short term, when humans fail to be caring, patient guardians, the cats they adopt—no matter their age—are the collateral damage.

Long story short, Mom L and Dad P had to make the painful decision to separate Katie and Lilly. Lilly is still very outgoing, although she does now have issues with “stress biting” after having been played with by the children with their hands—nonetheless she is highly adoptable. Katie remains, with any other humans than Mom L and Dad P, shy and fearful.

Lilly remains at Contra Costa Humane Society’s Kitty Corner, where she will likely be adopted quickly. PAWS CROSSED.

Lilly is no longer the skinny lanky youngster she was six weeks ago. She is still her same feisty self!

But seriously, how can Mom L and Dad P be the ONLY humans that sweet, lovable Katie can feel comfy with??

Yep, that is just the right touch

It doesn’t take rocket science to learn how to give a very scared and shy kitty some space to become comfortable with human touch.

If any of my remaining readers have any suggestions about how we can best promote Katie’s adopt-ability, and show off her true loving self, please leave a comment or message Mom L.

We cannot, and I mean CANNOT, give Katie her long desired permanent home. She deserves humans who are younger who will not likely leave her before she is herself a “senior” gal. Yep, I said that honestly and Mom L and Dad P gave me permission to say so. Mom L and Dad P are in their seventies and Katie will likely outlive them.

Katie is playful, energetic, even with her permanent limp on her right front leg; likely from a birth defect or lack of care from being born in a hoarder’s household.

Katie had only been back with Mom L and Dad P for about six hours and she was already giving them her tummy for full on tummy rubs. How hard is that???

I will be creating a badge for Katie’s Adoption Campaign and I hope my readers will display it on their blogs, Face Book pages and Tweets. Please help us give Katie her chance for a loving, permanent home.
