What A Thankful Thursday

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

This is gonna be like a really long post…so you might want to grab some noms and a fave beverage and pull up a soft blankie and sit a while…

SERIOUSLY…I know “great” blogs are short…but you are really gonna wanna read this WHOLE BOOK…’cuz you are ALL the main characters…JUST SAYIN’…

That’s why I am sittin’ here in this chair…

I just have a ton of things to be thankful for…and so much of those things are all about the treasure of having furriends who pitch in to help even without being asked…and when asked…they do it with their whole heart.

PAWSOME!

First, I think most of you remember I have a foster brofur, Leo, who has been in my our care for a month now.  He has hepatic lipidosis or commonly called fatty liver syndrome.  You can read about it here in one of my posts…or visit this LINK HERE to learn from Sparkle…

It was in that post, May 9, that I asked if anyone had some spare green papers, silver coins, lying around unused, that Mom and Dad could use a bit of help as Leo’s medical costs, which they fully committed to paying cuz his shelter, Contra Costa Humane Society is not very big and their vet care fund is always so stretched rescuin’ lots of adult cats and woofies.  Mom and Dad had paid $2,285 USD for Leo’s two night stay in animal hospital, blood work, ultrasound and feeding tube operation.

Anywho, I asked that one time…and guess what happened?

Several of my furriends immediately jumped to action and Mom found $245 USD in her paypal account in a few days!! Unbelievable…and over half of those who responded at that time were from out of USA…our global paw blog community so totally ROCKS!!!

Next I got the surprise of my life…my blue eyed mancat furriend and his blonde bombshell side kick…yes, I mean Alfie and Mollie!…they asked, well, actually I guess Mum Stella asked “can I help?”  We said sure and that was it for then.

An email from Mum Stella truly shocked me and Mom Linda to the core…they were gonna do not only a raffle but an AUCTION to help raise funds for Leo!!!

Mollie and Alfie and Mum Stella outdid themselves, on May 20th they had not only the AUCTION but the RAFFLE up and running…click HERE to read the post about the Auction.

…Alfie…(Mr Blue Eyes himself…purrrs…)

Of course, they needed more staff, so their good pal Miss Misaki jumped in with all four paws to assist with sorting the Raffle tickets, numbers etc…Misaki even took time out from eating her ice cream cone to make sure efurryone remembered to get their raffle tickets and to make bids at the auction…click HERE to read her post.

misaki

Now you ask “how could just those two bloggers get the word out and about and beg solicit furriends to donate items to the auction????….well of course there were even MORE of my furriends who helped…my mentor Sammy was cat on the spot getting the word out on every one of his posts once Mollie and Alfie got the ball ,nip mouse event rolling…click HERE to read one of Sammy’s post about the auction/raffle.

Sammy

And…of course my furry good furriends, My Three Moggies, were right in there helping strong arm encourage furriends to donate auction items and then to bully motivate them to make bids and buy raffles tickets…AND GUESS WHAT ELSE THEY DID?????….

My Three Moggies donated a PAWSOME Raffle First Prize…£50/$75 voucher for pet toys and products on Amazon…click HERE to read their announcement.

Of course the Second Place Raffle Prize was also super duper special…it was donated from Mollie and Alfie’s shop…it was one of Mum Stella’s very special hand drawn cartooned mouse pads…check out the two she did for ME a while ago…

And one more GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the WINNERS of the First Grand Prize from the Raffle…da’ Tabbies-O-Trout Towne…they gave LEO their Amazon voucher for $75 USD to spend on what ever he needs or to give to his shelter roomies at Kitty Corner.

I am so respectful of all that so many have done for Leo, whom none of you have met.  Trust me…he is worth it…and Dr. Ellis, his very special personal Vet (mine too…heh…heh) is totally his head cheerleader!!  Dr Ellis owns and loves her Civic Feline Clinic vet practice.  Without her and her PAWSOME staff, Leo would not be with us right now…IMHFO (in my humble feline opinion)…I mean seriously, what Vet ever gives the peeps a personal mobile number over a long weekend in case they need help for Leo????!!!

Purrlease, visit their Face Book page and give them a great big “LIKE“…Civic Feline Face Book Page

Being Thankful Is Easy…

HIYA!!  SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Mouses! What a week since last Thankful Thursday and my Thursday Garden Report for Jonesie’s Society of Feline Gardeners.

But firstest…I want to apologize for being absent from all of my furriends’ blog comment queues…but my Mom , who takes my dictation and does my typing…well….ummm…ahhh…yup…she has been helping with hourly feedings for the house introoder guest…Leo…purrlease accept both of our apologies.

Anywho…moving on…

Lots  of new stuff growin’ in my garden…outdoors AND indoors…heh…heh…yup…I now have a teeny little indoor garden JUST FOR ME!!

…here is a look at my indoor garden growing…

Haven’t sampled it yet… but maybe tonight.

But, let me talk about being thankful first.  Most of you met my introoder guest feline Leo on my Monday Meowsie News post.  If you did not, then click HERE to read all about him…

All of you kittehs and woofies know that being without a furrever home is…well..hmmm…what is it like???   Lemme think on that…(paw taps up, down, up, down…)

Ok…I think it is a lot like being what Leader Otis calls “Limbo Kitties“…my definition is a bit different than Leader O’s…but both are relevant to what I am thankful for today…here is what I think of as limbo kitties…and yes…limbo woofies too…

a place where kitties/woofies are  cast aside, forgotten“…

I know lots of my furriends are familiar with this place…same as me…same as my introoder guest Leo…

So tired

So tired

I am so, so humbled by my guest’s most admirable and incredible will to live…Leo is workin’ hard at hangin’ on to life…a life he so deserves.  Leo was “owner surrendered” at our county kill shelter because he wanted “too much attention/was too affectionate”…WOW!!! A kitteh that is affectionate!!! HORRIBLE!!!…ummmm…then why did you get a kitteh in the first place?…just wonderin’….
…and yep Leo is very affectionate…
Leo smoochie
Paws crossed that Leo comes back here to be taken care of by Dad and Mom tomorrow…and doesn’t have to spend another day in hospital.Today he went to a hospital to have a feeding tube inserted…his specialist vet says he has a good chance to get through his Hepatic Lipidosis disease.  Click HERE if you do not know about this illness for us kittehs.

Mom and Dad did not know about it, and it surprised Leo’s caretakers at my former shelter.  It is so impawtant for all of us to learn from Leo’s illness.Thank Ceiling Cat that Leo now has the complete vet care he requires and that he has a chance to come through and find his furrever home at last…where his intense need to share his affection will be appreciated.

I am thankful, thankful that Dad and Mom and my former shelter Kitty Corner have stepped up to save Leo if they can.So purrlease join Pepi Smart Dog’s “Thankful Thursday” Blog Hop…click on the badge to go visit some great Thankful Thursday posts…

And now for my Thursday Garden Report for Jonesie…the Emeritus Founder of the Society of Feline Gardeners…
Society of Feline Gardeners
Here is what is going on in my garden this week…
Hope you are all having a truly Thankful Thursday and you are loving your gardens…

peeEss…Dad and Mom committed to pay for all of Leo’s vet care costs.  It is over $2,000 USD.   But his recovery is very, very hopeful…we would not have done this unless his chances of a full recovery were better than 80% which they are.  If you are so inclined to help a bit with this costs…purrlease donate to Mom’s paypal at lcrodgers at sbcglobal dot net.
We know that so many have greater needs…just thought we would ask in case any furriend finds some change hiding in the sofa, under the sofa or somewhere forgotten…thank for thinking about Leo’s recovery…

Wordless Wednesday

HIYA!!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!!

Almost wordless…

I had a really nice visit with Mom last night…first time in a while…I hopped up and had a nice biskit making session and watched some TV with her and Dad…

…ummmmm…my fave blue afghan…needs some fluffing…

DSC_0165

…now for some TV…ok Dad…you have the control thingy…put it on the bird channel…

DSC_0168

Tomorrow is a pretty big deal for this adult rescue shelter kitteh…it is my FIRST GOTCHA DAY…on January 3rd 2012, Mom and Dad failed as foster pawrents and I got my furrever home at last.  I hope you will all come round…Mom and Dad have been busy getting my cakes ready…YES…two cakes…one for my Cat Furriends and another one for all my Dog Furriends!!

And, Mom made it a commentathon…she will donate $.50 cents USD for EVERY comment to the Contra Costa Humane Society, they run my former shelter Kitty Corner, and she will make sure it goes to their Vet Care budget to help with the cost of vet care for the adult cats and dogs they pull from our local county kill shelter.

AND…GET THIS!!! DAD DECIDED TO “UP THE ANTE” on Mom… I’ll see your $.50 cents USD, and raise you $.25 cents USD…that makes each comment worth $.75 cents!!!

pawty invite

So come on by tomorrow!!
