Monday Meowsie News: Can we please get some POTP?

HIYA! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I decided to let my little foster kitten Miss Lillian aka Lilly have the blog post today. As you can see in the following photos, she kind’a sort’a took over Mom L’s computer so I just said “go for it kid!!”

As you all know, I don’t try to help Mom L with the blog technical stuff. I am more of a “visionary” cat. And besides, I just can’t jump up on her desk anymore—darn arty-right-us!! But Miss Lilly sure can get up there and I think she did a mighty fine job of it.

Oh, nice composition…but it looks a tad off focus on me!

So Miss Lilly tinkered a bit more and finally seemed satisfied.

I changed focus to me so’s to not wake up Auntie Katie

What can I say, except that our foster kittens, nine month old Katie and four month old Lilly, have been with us for almost five months and they are tryin’ to take over my blog!!

Now about the POTP request in my headline. You see, sweet Miss Lilly has been very sick since about last week of October. She has been to emergency with Dad P two times and to three different clinics. Unfortunately, her blood work indicates, but doesn’t prove, that she may be a genetic liver shunt kitten. Mom L and Dad P are taking her to a special Veterinarian tomorrow, Tuesday.

Please if you have a moment, send sweet precious Lilly your most kind and caring POTP. We may not be able to save her so she can find her forever home. But Mom L and Dad P sure as heck are gonna try and The Kid Sage and I are right there with them.

Monday Meowsie News: Pawing It Forward Never Stops

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Just when I thought I was gonna get these two foster kittens outta my castle, they go off to the adoption place and get that darn ring worm all over again!!! How many times do I have to “Paw It Forward” for these two?? I’m tellin’ you, Sage and I are getting pretty tired of sharing my our castle!!

I am so tired of taking meds…can’t I just get my own castle?

Yup, Katie is tired of the meds and Mom L and Dad P are tired of having to give them. And that younger one, Lilly, well she just keeps all of us worried cuz she isn’t getting her weight back. But she still has to take that med for the ring worm.

What? No, please no…not again

So Katie and Lilly have been keeping Mom L and Dad P hopping this week since they had to come home from Contra Costa Humane Society’s Kitty Corner. But that isn’t all Mom L has been up to this week.

Finally this whole litter of four kittens has been trapped and the mom cat too. Mom cat is now spayed and the kittens were taken to Contra Costa Animal Services by Mom L. The first little guy was taken in a couple weeks ago ‘cuz he was injured.

Remember me? I make those cage bars look good!

He is healing nicely and will soon get his x-ray. Mom L took in his three siblings early this last week. Are they not just as cute as buttons???

Then Mom L responded to a local Nextdoor neighbor who had a male, not neutered, friendly adult cat coming around all the time to get food. He must have lived in the house they moved into ‘cuz he keeps trying to get inside.

Mom L named him Stan. And took him to Contra Costa Animal Services for his neuter, vaccines, etc. He is thought to be about seven years old and they found a ring around his neck, down to the skin, where a collar must have been and that became too small for him. We are waiting to learn about the lump they also found on his neck, at the back.

Wonders never cease in the world of community cat rescue and this last week was no exception. On TOP of all the above, one of Mom L’s rescue trapping pals helped out with a friend who found a mom cat and kittens in his wood pile. Same mom cat from a year ago and there she was back again with kittens. Well Miss Jeanne worked her magic over THREE days and she caught the four kittens AND got the mom cat!! Mom cat is already getting spayed and will be released in the neighborhood and the kittens are now safe and sound and healthy at Contra Costa Animal Services.

Go on, you can say “squeeee!!”

I don’t know about you, but I am bone tired after writing this blog post about our past week of Pawing It Forward!!

What a difference time can make

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Hey guys, how many of you remember our foster kitten named Andi? Mom L trapped her and her Mom Mandi last October 2017 where they were living at an Elk’s Lodge near my castle. Well Mom L received notice from my cat Vet that Andi’s annual checkup is due next month! That made us all remember sweet Andi and miss her all over again.

Thanks to Face Book, Mom L was able to find Andi’s new Mom and ask for an update. Here you go—Andi one year later!!!

She is just as cute as ever and still a bit shy but always progressing and loved very much by her family.

I am learning in my own recovery from trauma that time and patience make such a difference. Now I can see that happening with our current foster kitten, Katie. She is about eight to nine months old and recovering from a traumatic early kittenhood including being a mom cat at age five months!! We have also learned that she has a permanent limp, likely due to a trauma at birth which has made one of her front elbows not function quite right.

BUT—Katie is progressing lots with the four months we have had her and with love and patience. Katie adores being brushed and loves having her full tummy rubbed and brushed. She throws herself down and stretches out from the tip of her front paws to the tip of her hind paws!

She flips over when she expects some more attention and she always gets it!

More please!!

And last but far from least, a look at what the passing of a few weeks can mean to some new born kittens Mom L and a pal rescued using the kittens as bait for the mom cat.

Remember how tiny they were when reunited with their mom?

Just take a look at them now! You can see five of the six kittens in the first photo. They are all so much like their beautiful Russian Blue mom cat. Only one gray tabby and the others are like mom.

And here is the one cute tuxedo kitten.

They will start being weaned soon. Mom cat will be spayed and released in her favorite neighborhood as she has shown she is very much a feral cat. But all the kittens will be going to adoptions in another four to six weeks.

So I say APAWS APAWS for how much progress can be made when we give rescue kitties some time, love and patience. Don’t you agree?
