Happy Tails Ending

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Do you remember one of our park colony cats I introduced you to back in March? His name is Nemo, after the little fish born with one fin smaller than the other? Well our Nemo’s foster Dad Adam named him Nemo because our Nemo has a tail that is naturally shorter than most cats! Cool, huh?!

If you live in the USA, then you know that many states, especially California where I live, are entering “kitten season”. This is the time of year Mom cats start dropping litters of unwanted kittens. The good news is that there are so many families just waiting to adopt these cute little kittens. They become not very interested in adopting adult cats, especially cats such as our sweet boy Nemo who is now entering his “senior” years at eight years old.

BUT—there is always hope!!!

Mom L started taking Nemo last week to an adoption event at our partner’s, Community Concern For Cats, pop up adoption site in Walnut Creek California. We finally managed to get him posted to their adoption portal only last Thursday afternoon. Soooooo—we thought why stress him by taking him back to adoptions today, Sunday, when no one really knows about him, right? But his foster Miss Joanna said “he needs to get the exposure”, so Dad P decided to take him to the three hour adoption event.

Nemo found his forever home today!!!! A mom and daughter arrived, spent over half an hour with our Nemo and wanted to adopted him right then and there!!

Nemo was likely born in 2013, and spent the majority of his life in our humanely managed park colony. Our devoted feeders, over the years, socialized him so that he was ready to life the good life inside!

Please join me in sending Nemo your best wishes for a happy life retired to the inside with loving care from kind humans.

Meet our feline Nemo!

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

There seems to be some weird thing that is happening from this human COVID thingy. Our partners at Community Concern For Cats (CC4C) are finding that more and more potential adopters are open to considering adult, even senior adult, cats for adoption!! True that—kitten season is almost upon us—but the adoption rate for adults is still on the upswing at CC4C!

So, I asked Mom L if she could find out if any of our Delta View Cats that live in the River View Park colony that we manage and feed might be friendly enough to bring inside for assessment for adoptability.

ENTER NEMO!!

And you may now ask “why name him Nemo—after the little Disney fish with one fin too small”? Well just check out our Nemo’s tail!!

Hey man! Is this where they keep the food??!!

Nemo was gone when Mom L first learned about this colony in 2017. He did not reappear until early 2019. Early this year, 2021, he appeared to have wound on his side so one of his feeders picked him up and plopped him into a carrier—yes he is that friendly with his feeders!! Mom L got him to our partner county animal services only to learn that the wound was already healed!!

We got him into a foster home with a volunteer with our Delta View Cats non-profit. We are focused here in our city of Pittsburg, California. Nemo needed to get a medical check-up before he can go to adoptions through CC4C. So he ended up getting his FeLV (feline leukemia) test at the CC4C Kitchen Clinic I have posted about lots of times! Mom L so enjoys being able to volunteer with this clinic. This requires keeping him still while Dr. Josie puts a needle into a leg vein to draw just a teensy amount of blood for the “SNAP” test.

Such a champ! No fussing!

We learned are the clinic that sweet, gentle Nemo is about eight years old and that he has a great need for a dental. His mouth is very bad and causes him such great pain. We are so relieved that he is negative for feline leukemia and that his health is otherwise very good for his age, as he has likely lived most of his life outside, lost and abandoned.

We will start fund raising for Nemo’s dental ASAP so that he can then go into the adoption path. Nemo so loves being pet and gives the strongest head bumps ever!!

Fun and funny

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

I have some pretty silly photos and short videos to share with you that I just know are gonna make you giggle. Especially this time of year when families all over the world are trying to figure out how to keep their kitties safe from those pesky holiday trees and other crazy stuff!

So last time Mom L did a Kitchen Kat Klinic was about a week ago. Miss Gemma who hosts this clinic for Community Concern For Cats has a house full of rescue kitties all ages and many are just waiting for adoption. Some of these kitties always try to take over the clinic and show off!!

This 6 month old kitten decided that Miss Gemma’s back looked like a great place to hang out! And then the same youngster dropped off into a deep nap with her Siamese buddy!

And there you have silly KK aka Katie hanging out with ~~her~~ my three way tunnel having a blast running inside and out! Thankfully she has not learned that that green spot in the middle of the tunnel is my logistical control for the tunnel’s intergalactic travel.

Got bag! Will travel!!

Of course there is always TKS who thinks every bag will take her anywhere she wants to go.

Now you see a kitten, Tomas, and his mom cat Conchita, who Mom L and Dad P and I helped rescue. A very loving and kind and compassionate couple contacted us way back in early May of 2020 to help them bring this precious, extremely scared Mom and her son into their home. Tomas and Conchita are living inside in the lap of king and patient caring guardians. Tomas is now very bonded with both his new guardians and Conchita is learning to trust human all over again.

AND—Conchita has spoiled her son!

Tomas is now bigger than his Mom and yet he still demands that she give him his daily wash!! Silly mancat! Check out his approach to Christmas Tree inspection.
