Autobiography of a Former Shelter Cat

Thank Cod for Fog!

I had a totally easy peasy HOOVER Thursday…thanks to our wonderful Bay Area Fog!  While Auntie Shannon did her HOOVER thing downstairs, I relaxed in my office window.

And because the morning started with fog, it was still cool even when the sun came out…so I sat in the window itself, not my bed…

…such a great neighborhood observation post…seriously…I can look down on my back yard, AND watch the street in front of our house.  Soooooo relaxing…that is until the yappy beagles from up the street came by my house…and they saw the sheltie across the street…

Oh My Cod!!! What a racket!!! Those little beagles have some seriously obnoxious(vocab builder) vocal chords…and the volume!!! aiiiieeeeeeyyyyiiiyiiii!!!…I had to cover my ears with my paws for a bit.

And the sheltie, what a little gentleman…he just wagged his tail and tried to calm the beagles…very entertaining I must say.  The key thing  to know is that I just sat right there, never moved, just watched and listened…(read: not scared!!)…

The other REALLY IMPAWTANT part of this post is that I ENTERED THE OFFICE, HOPPED UP ON THE GLORIOUS CAT BED COUNTER AND WINDOW COMBO…WHILE MOM WAS AT THE COMPUTER WORKING…

I have been napping in the office bed all along…but 4 months ago refused to stay when Mom or Dad entered, and would not come in if Mom was at our desk.  Now I come in to get a pet sometimes, but I don’t get in my bed…but Thursday, I snuck up to the window without her even knowing it and I stayed for about an hour, napped in the window…purrrrrrrrrrr…

Friendly Friday Frolicks!

What a morning me and Mom had…and it only took us 3 minutes to have a great time together!

Mom was about to walk out of the house for her spinning class at the gym…and she saw me over on my Bird Watching Tower.  She thought I looked cute so she grabs the FLASH and CLICK thingy…and comes over to me…

…and BAM! she gets a pretty good shot of my pretty face (blushes)…with my gorgeous white diamond whiskers…nice…we’re done now…

emmmm…maybe not…Mom starts to sing to me…ok, ok…now she has my attention totally…I LUVLUVLUV when Mom sings to me.

..I just go all whacky…so she starts with the usual lilting (vocab builder) lines…Savannah, nana, mo mana, fee fi mo mana, Savannah…makes me start to go crazy…

…I flip over…roll around like a kitten…that’s my nip mousey you can see…now Mom does the…Savannah banana, nana mo…Oh My Cat!…luv it!…I grab the post, flip around and look upside down at her…she keeps on singing and clicking and flashing

…I can’t stop myself….I whip around the post and practically drool….

..now she moves on to the lyrics, again this lilting voice that is so mesmerizing(more vocab builder) to me ever since I came here…nana neeny miny mo…nana mo…manana banana mo…meeny miny mo…Savannah…that’s it! I slam myself over to the other post, looking sort’a skitzoid!!…

….she just keeps on singing away…little girl, pearly girl, little whirly girl…awwwwww….

…finally she stops…gives me a pet or two…and leaves me exhausted from my frolicking about like an idiot!!!….ummmmmm…luvluvluvd that!!!…Thanks Mom!

Practicise, Practise, Practise…

I’ve been thinking, and I am gonna try to get ready to enter one of the upcoming Cat-O-Lympic events!! YES!! Gettin’ more and more confident!!

But I  know, it will take Practice, Practice, Practice!!!

So I am not much of a jumper, I kind’a don’t like getting all 4 paws off the floor at one time. But I may try for that. The one I think I might be good at is the Smackdown Event, except I don’t know what that is…hmmmm…so I think that’s the one I’ll go for!

So, I follow Leader Otis’ blog, The Blog of Otis.  And he and his Brothers Oliver and Henry are training for their own in-house catlympics which they do in October.

Leader Otis was very impressed with Mama Cat’s prowess (vocab builder)…so much so that he asked Mama Cat to train the limbo kitties for his Catlympics. I am so impressed with her training mantra, Watch, Anticipate, Act, that I had to try it myself.

Watch means to focus on the bird, know the bird; Anticipate means get ready for where it will go next; and Act means use the kill strike, smack it down, and also requires that you must have the appropriate ‘kill’ face on when you act.

That’s what I am working on now. Last night was my first workout with Mom handling the training Flying Bird.

I do my work mostly from the floor…but I get pretty good leverage given I have very well developed gluts (that’s butt muscle for the uninformed).

….now I am practicing WATCH…good eye focus on the bird…can ya see that???…

…now the bird moves and I ANTICIPATE where it is going and prepare my body for the next move…can ya see my ‘anticipation’???…(no, not the song sillies…the mood…)…and can ya see I’m startin’ to get my ‘kill’ look going too???

…ACT!!!! Check out that ‘KILL’ face!!! Nice, huh?!…except I missed the bird!!..OH MY CAT!!!…how embarrassing….

But…this was just my first training session, and like I said…Practice, Practice, Practice…

hhhmmmmmm…I wonder if I should find out what that Cat-O-Lympic event Smackdown really is???…maybe I need another training routine!!!

I guess I could at least enter the Competitive Napping…I do that one really good…hmmmm…off for Practice, Practice, Practice for that event  now….zzzzzzzzzzz
