Monday Meowsie News

Hey, hey, hey…Savannah here! Hope efurrybody had a great weekend! Mom volunteered at an animal rescue big event as part of her work with the Contra Costa Humane Society, a non-profit animal rescue organization. They run the Kitty Corner Shelter where Mom and Dad found me. There was this really big event where lots of organizations have booths and raffles and give away things and stuff, so Mom spent some time handing out flyers for CCHS upcoming activities and what not.

So, I got to spend some time with Dad. I am still avoiding him just a bit ‘cuz of the nail trimming episode…he is the one stuck with grabbing me and holding me by my scruff…and of course it doesn’t help that I am more anxious of men in general than I am of women…anyways…me and Dad hung out.

Now my Dad loves this new magazine I turned him onto…Mousebreath: A Lifestyle Magazine by Cats and For Cats and Cat Lovers. So he saw a book review of this really cool book by Max the Psycho Kitty . The book is called The Rules: A Guide For People Owned By Cats by Max Thompson. Well in this book Max talks about using stuff around the house to keep your cat entertained.

Dad goes and digs around in the trash…he is so cute when he is trying hard to get on my good side, he’ll do just about anything!…so again, he digs in the trash and retrieves this gray tube made outta paper…I think it came from where he and Mom have their own litter box…it usually has lots of white soft papery stuff wrapped around it, then when that’s all gone, this gray tube thing is left.

Well, I digress…so Dad decided to save it and try it on me…’cuz Max the Psycho Kitty suggested it.

…first, I am not too sure at all…

…but then I attack it…rooowowwww…I circle around behind it….

…then I decide it must have gone under my scratch post…so I shove my paws under the post looking for it…of course not knowing it had snuck up behing me….

Oh My Cat!! If ya haven’t tried the paper tube roll thingy, give it a whirl…what a rush!!…I had to go cool off after that encounter…back in bed, natch!..

That’s what’s new in my corner of the world…what’s new with you today???

Whew! What a Workout!

Well, Mom and Dad left me alone all day yesterday…then last night…OH MY CAT!!

They decided I needed to do my WHOLE workout routine at ONE TIME!! I was ready for bed, but said “what the heck…I can do this!” Even tho’ I, personally, had been very busy during the day…what with first watching the bedroom and hummer feeder outside…

Then I had to go do interior patrols…sittin’ on my cat tower to watch the ~~finches and doves~~…err..umm…to make sure nothing was gonna get in the house from outside…then I had to go up and down the stairs, and watch the side yard from upstairs to make sure nothing could climb the wall and get in…’course I may have taken a little nap at each patrol station…

Soooo….they decide I need some exercise just ‘cuz THEY didn’t get any…so first they had me do about a catjillion reps of my core workout…ya know the one where you have to squeeze your abs tight to flip from side to side…and I had to do 2 sets!

Then they want me to get goin’ on my aerobic stuff to get my heart rate up and all…ya know this one…chase that stupid red dot you can never catch…

So first, ya have to see it…

…now get a good focus on it…

…next get it right between your paws for contol…

..aaiiieee yowl! it got away..run..

..then use your hind legs and try to pounce on it from above…

…now just breathe…and ignore it!

Then I catch my breath thinking Mom will be tired by now…but nooooooooo…she says there is still the upper body workout to do…ya know…building your chest, back, front legs…gettin’ good eye–prey—paw coordination…so out comes the green feather thingy (which I luvluvluv) but Oh Cat!…I’m getting a bit tired here…

So first I spot it moving over my head…

..then I use my upper body to pummel it

Well, now I am totally exhausted…I need a snack and my pets and my bed…I don’t think I will be so hard on the staff next time they take a day away. Just sayin….

HELP! I Need Blanket Techniques!

Hey All…you know I outed myself as a “BLANKET CAT”…right?! And I have shown you me as a lump in some photos. Well, Mom took a bit of a liberty with me when I was tryin’ to get under on my own…I usually let them help me by holding the blankie up and pretending there are mice in bed…then I dive under and pretend to lose the mice…and I just sort’a fall asleep.

Weellllll….I tried to do it myself and it wasn’t pretty…

yup!!! That’s my butt and tail hangin’ out there for all to see…no hiding it! I couldn’t get the blankie to let me all the way in.

Then I turned around and it still didn’t work out so good…

Now here I am looking out…I know they can see me…and of course…here comes the dreaded camera!

So for all my furriends who read this blog…please, please, please…if you have better techniques for getting under the blankie ALLLLL THE WAYYYYY…tell me!
