Chiquitita update

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Do you remember the abandoned park kitty Mom L trapped last week?

We named her Chiquitita after the ABBA song! Seemed to fit her potential for being bilingual! Well, Ms. Chiquitita showed off her charm within the first 24 hours of her visit to my garage!

This sweet one year old girl was immediately demonstrating her love for human interaction. She could not wait to get to anyone who opened her cage to get to them and start giving head bumps and chirps and purrs! She loved the camera!!

We are so fortunate to have such kind and compassionate partners in the community cat rescue world here in our east Contra Costa County in Nor Cal! Our former volunteer Ms. Jeanne helped us find an awesome foster within the network of Community Concern For Cats (CC4C). And, she also got sweet Chiquitita into a fast track for her spay surgery that opened the door to her jumping onto the adoption train with CC4C!!!

I am so purrleased to let you know that darling Chiquitita is now about to be posted to their social media portals and she will be ready to jump into her forever family arms ASAP!!!

How’s that for a very happy tails ending??? And, I will let you know when Chica is adopted!!

Happy Tails Ending

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Do you remember one of our park colony cats I introduced you to back in March? His name is Nemo, after the little fish born with one fin smaller than the other? Well our Nemo’s foster Dad Adam named him Nemo because our Nemo has a tail that is naturally shorter than most cats! Cool, huh?!

If you live in the USA, then you know that many states, especially California where I live, are entering “kitten season”. This is the time of year Mom cats start dropping litters of unwanted kittens. The good news is that there are so many families just waiting to adopt these cute little kittens. They become not very interested in adopting adult cats, especially cats such as our sweet boy Nemo who is now entering his “senior” years at eight years old.

BUT—there is always hope!!!

Mom L started taking Nemo last week to an adoption event at our partner’s, Community Concern For Cats, pop up adoption site in Walnut Creek California. We finally managed to get him posted to their adoption portal only last Thursday afternoon. Soooooo—we thought why stress him by taking him back to adoptions today, Sunday, when no one really knows about him, right? But his foster Miss Joanna said “he needs to get the exposure”, so Dad P decided to take him to the three hour adoption event.

VOILA!!!

Nemo found his forever home today!!!! A mom and daughter arrived, spent over half an hour with our Nemo and wanted to adopted him right then and there!!

Nemo was likely born in 2013, and spent the majority of his life in our humanely managed park colony. Our devoted feeders, over the years, socialized him so that he was ready to life the good life inside!

Please join me in sending Nemo your best wishes for a happy life retired to the inside with loving care from kind humans.

A Happy Tails Ending to Celebrate

HIYA!! SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Hello my furriends! I have the bestest ever Happy Tails Ending we have had in a couple of months!

Meet Mackenzie aka Mack!

Dad P received a call from a neighbor in our townhome complex about an adult cat that had taken up residence on her front porch. She said the kitty really wanted to come inside! Dad P knew that meant this kitty was likely someone’s lost pet OR had been abandoned. He and Mom L posted all over local social media and no one stepped forward to claim this cute kitty.

I asked them to pick up the kitty and take her to our one foster family who know how to work with adult rescue cats. Miss Joanna gladly welcome the kitty and learned how friendly she was. This kitty even took to their big doggie Nala! And as any assertive cat would do, she took over Nala’s bed!! MOL!!

The third night Miss Joanna picked up the kitty and she felt a lot of wetness on her tummy. OH NO!! Yes, this kitty, now known as Mackenzie aka Mack aka Mac’N’Cheese ( Miss Joanna had teenagers!) had three pawful puncture wounds!!

Mack was such a great patient and our pal Dr Josie ( retired Feline Vet) made sure Mack was stitched up just fine! Dad P and Mom L helped Dr Josie by holding the oxygen mask on Mack and keeping her hind legs separated so’s Dr Josie could do her excellent stitching!

Mack recovered from her surgery at my castle. It was here that she revealed so much of her REAL SELF. I had Mom L introduce her to the “nip”—maybe not the best idea I ever had—but darn—Mack loved it!! MOL!!

Finally it was time for Mack to get ready for her first audition and promotion for adoption. So Mom L and I had Mack pose for some great photos.

Mack was promoted by our pal at Community Concern For Cats and by the time she arrived at an adoption event, she had peeps waiting in line!!! And her forever human showed up first and right in front! Miss Mikayla! And she brought her own Mom to come along to enjoy the first meeting of a forever human—animal bonding!!
