Those of you who have followed me over the last 2 years may recall this comment made by my former shelter when Mom L and Dad P picked me up to be their foster cat…
Mom L: “Do you have some toys we can use. We don’t have any at home right now after our three precious senior cats made their journey to The Bridge…we donated their toys and cat towers, etc. to rescues.”
Former Shelter: “*waves hand*…oh don’t worry, you don’t really need toys. Savannah doesn’t really play much if at all”.
Hmmmmmmmmm…really??
Oh right…I don’t play…heh…heh
Guess no one figured that my mentor and pal Sammy, One Spoiled Cat, would be teaching me about all the joys of tissue paper.
And…I have learned to trust that when Mom L and Dad P play with me…they won’t hurt me and so I try lots of new moves…2 1/2 years ago…I would never have dreamed of not only tissue paper games…but allowing things to cover my head…even my whole body…look at me now…
Ahhh…tissue paper!!
Wheee! Can’t see me now!
*paw reached for feather*
Whap…whappity…whap, whap…
Check out my bunny kickin’…
I started doing more and more bunny kicks since The Kid Sage showed up. Ok, so maybe I have learned a thing or even two from The Kid…nuff’ said about that…na’mean???
Listen to that tissue paper rattle…betcha Sammy jumps up and down just listening to it…
After all that rocking and rolling…I took a break to do some meditating…learned this from my pals Ku and Swami Zoe…
Look, focus…see the spot…be the spot…
Paw Pats, Savannah
peeEss...I am remiss in missing precious Zoe’s incredible birthday achievement…THIRTEEN…and not looking a day over THREE…paws crossed…I am not telling a fib Zoe…a card for you my furriend…please forgive my belated wishes
Remember these cute little ‘Tossed Away” kittens???
Dumped Alive in Dumpster
This is a seriously happy ending…but first…the BAD news their foster Doc Josie discovered…
Doc Josie told Mom L that she thought Tango, the white with tabby markings, seemed to be favoring his hind left leg. Even though he tried to play and jump on his panfur brother Charlie…Tango was clearly not on the top of his game.
Doc Josie, who is a co-founder of Civic Feline Clinic (my former feline specialist Doc) took Tango to Doc Ellis (my current feline specialist Doc) to get X-rays. You will remember that Doc Ellis is the feline specialist who saved my Cuzin Leo’s life…right? No? Don’t recall…click HERE
Check out this very informative X-ray…
Doc Josie and Doc Ellis have determined that Tango’s femur break is healing on its own. Meaning he does not require any surgery or a pin at such a young age. He is approximately 6 weeks or so old.
It may have happened when the kittens were in the dumpster and humans threw in stuff not knowing that another ‘human’ had already dumped 4 live kittens in the same dump. Doesn’t matter what the details are…it only matters that Tango is going to be just fine!!!
Check him out playing “Smacky Paw Tag” with his brofur Charlie…
They are both chowing down cat food…they really enjoy being together…wouldn’t it be nice if they might have some pals??
And WHAMMMOOOOO!!!!
The Universe delivered a couple of pals to capture Tango and Charlie’s attention…(still being fostered by Doc Josie who has a whole flock of feathered friends)…these chicks were dumped at a Petco store during adoption day for Community Concern 4 Cats who immediately whisked the chicks to Doc Josie.
ONLY Doc Josie would toss a couple of chicks in with two carnivore kittens with such aplomb…trusting that size and curiosity would entertain all…gotta luvluvluv Doc Josie’s ‘tude! (apologies photo is blurred…smart phone spurr of moment!)
And now for the potentially HAPPY ENDING…
It appears that BOTH these kittens have a serious adopter…very very serious…we cannot confirm just yet…but stay TUNED to learn Tango and Charlie’s ending…it’s gonna be really great…paws crossed!
First a big shout out THANK YOU to all those who have been leaving such encouraging comments for me and The Kid Sage over the last few weeks as we continue to work on being together.
We have come a long way from here…11/14/2013
Aiiee…airplane ears all around
To arrive here…06/15/2014
I am especially grateful to all of you who have left such positive reinforcement for me…helping me think about what having a kid sister can mean relative to having a playmate, a pal to nap with etc.
Now, not that ANY of the above has been going on in this house…oh no!…no way…not in the least…unless by accident or if I am caught napping. But, more about that ‘caught napping’ part in a bit.
But wait until you see what has been happening in just the last 7 days!
I have begun to find enough courage to actually leave my bed in the living room, and carefully walk, not slink, across the room while The Kid Sage is in a chair with Dad P or sitting on the floor near him…and I slowly make my way into the kitchen to get a snack or find Mom L for some pets. TA-DA!!
I am doing this pretty regularly now and Mom L and Dad P are leaving us out together when they run errands and go to the gym. Never more than maybe two hours, but still…my paw tracks on moving forward!
July 1, we started out pretty close in the living room…a new ‘close’ for us…with both of us totally relaxed…so they left us alone for a couple of hours…I was right in my bed when they returned and The Kid Sage had moved to the upstairs tower…not bothering me at all!
Only three feet away
The Kid Sage chilling…
HRH Savannah with no concerns
Now in the mornings when we are all watching the news and reading iPads and whatnot…in bed of course…The Kid Sage has begun to walk from the bottom of the bed right up to Mom L (passing me and my hisser like she hears nothing) to get what is now her expected morning brushies and scritches. And she has found her way onto Mom L’s lap!
Not sure how I like seeing The Kid Sage so up close and personal with ‘my’ Mom L…have to think on that one for sure.
Totally relaxed…snoozing away
And we have even shared morning snacks right in bed using Mom L’s legs as a dining table…I had to cut out Mom L at her request as she was still in her nightgown….*snicker*…but the iPad is on her legs and I am facing The Kid Sage and sharing some snacks with her…will wonders never cease!??
And yes, the wonders have NOT CEASED…the tale of the tail meeting the nose…
What is whapping my nose?
How was I to know she was right there…I was just flipping my tail with pleasure because I was getting some head rubs…
As you can well imagine…The Kid Sage could not contain herself after about 5 minutes of me flipping my tail on her head. She reached out lightning fast to grab my flicking tail…only Mom L was faster and grabbed her outstretched paw with those talons of hers out ready to catch my tail!!
Finally…the Tale of the Two Tails…yes…our tails have now met…unknown to either of us. I was asleep next to Mom L and The Kid Sage was sound asleep on her lap…and it just sort of happened…
Neither of us really knew what was happening…we were both so at peace sharing snuggles with Mom L in the morning in ‘our’ bed. One day I may let The Kid Sage actually spend the night in ‘our’ bed…but not yet.
