A Kitchen Clinic: Beginning and Ending Lives

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Mom L volunteers with Community Concern For Cats (CC4C) at the Kitchen Clinics Miss Gemma has, literally, in her kitchen. My former, now retired, feline specialist Vet is the doc who does the examines etc., Miss Josie. More Kitchen Clinic posts are here, here and here. I have been posting about these clinics since 2014! Mom L always enjoys the variety of cases she gets to help with including kittens…

Tiny lives…fostered by a CC4C member

…ferals who have to be sedated to be examined and medicated…

Feral, stray rescue clinic

…to abandoned adults who need a check up before they can be cleared to go up for adoption.

Abandoned at a city park

At a recent clinic Mom L was struck by how these clinics see the full range of a cat’s life from its beginning as a kitten through to the diagnosis that tells the cat will begin its journey across The Bridge soon.

First the precious adult Maine Coon cat a senior couple found in their backyard. Clearly on death’s door. He was emaciated. Starving and could barely walk. The couple fed him, brought him inside and cared for him until they could get him to the Kitchen Clinic.

Initial examination

This brave Maine Coon Cat had feline myocardial disease that had been left untreated far too long. And yet what a gentle giant everyone experienced this day.

The diagnosis was administer diuretics to help with the fluid around his heart and then simply love, pet, care for him until it was time for him to cross to The Bridge. This wonderful senior couple stepped right up to provide this precious cat hospice care. So Mom L experienced the beginning of the end of gentle giants’ life.

And next came a litter of four kittens. All different. All full of life and totally ready for immediate adoption! Such a diverse litter of color. First up the darling tuxedo.

Next up the striped tabby.

What is she doing with that needle???

That tabby was a trouper for sure! He wasn’t sure if that lady was gonna ever let go of his ear!!

Then the calico girl was next.

And last the boy with the most unusual markings!!

Ok, why are you holding me like this??

Look what is hiding under his chin!

What? So my mustache slipped a bit and is now my bow tie!!

These precious kittens were cared for by two men who just adored them. They were so happy that the kittens were all negative for FeLV and were ready for adoption!

And that is why Mom L so enjoys being able to volunteer at Miss Gemma’s Kitchen Clinic since 2014!!

Friday Memes for Friday Smiles

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

It’s that time to get your Friday smiles broken in. I think I have a couple of memes that will do just that and one extra to introduce you to a special kitty.

Don’t you just know that is exactly what that bed buddy is doing? Yuck!

Isn’t this every cat’s idea of “who owns what” when there are dogs involved in the cat’s castle?? Seriously!! We all know that “cats rule and dogs drool”. Period!!

Garfield is a very special senior member of the River View Park cat colony that Mom L and Dad P and I are helping to humanely manage. He found his way to this park after hopping off his last oil freighter adventure where he was serving as ship’s cat. And he was so loved by the cats that they made him their leader. Garfield is a lovable fifteen year old cat. He is in desperate need of a retirement home where he can get all the pets and lap time he wants and where he can live out his final years in comfort, warmth and aircon! He has had blood work that shows he is in good health for his age and he has had a dental cleaning. Our Project Delta View Cats group will fund all of his senior years medical needs through end of life.

If you know anyone in the San Francisco bay area who is open to taking Garfie into their home, let me know in comments. And if not, then please share his photo, you have my permission to copy his photo and share it with family, friends who might be able to help him.

Monday Meowsie News

HIYA!!   SAVANNAH HERE!!!

Not a ton of stuff going on in my castle this past week EXCEPT for the new news Mom L posted on her Facebook page. Now the photo was taken in the darkest hour of the early morning so you only get a backside view, but from this you can verify just who this kitty is.

Yes!! Katie finally moved over to Mom L’s side of the bed one night this week. She is becoming an “equal opportunity bed warmer” for both Mom L and Dad P.

As for what’s up with me this week, I am starting to take back my place on my our couch at night with Mom L. As you may recall, KK has been trying to steal borrow this prize location. You’d think Mom L could’a caught me in a more favorable pose though, na’ mean??

What? I was just making sure my tail is still attached!

If you missed my Friday Memes, they you are gonna appreciate me sharing this photo with you. Mom L volunteered her time one afternoon at a “Kitchen Clinic” with Community Concern For Cats, CC4C, and was sure she saw a bunch of white ferrets show up!! She shook her head and looked outside again and this is what she saw.

Yoo hoo?? Anybody out there????

These six kittens, four all white, one white with black accessories and one with a dab of light gray paint on top of his head, are one of THREE litters of white kittens all from the same dad!! Three different tabby moms and dad is also a tabby?? Go figure!!

Mom L met another adult cat at this clinic. He just showed up in his foster Mom’s backyard a couple of days before the clinic. Not neutered and begging to be held constantly. He had some real vocal cords this one did!! MOL!!  Miss Gemma who runs this clinic would have to pick him up and carry him around the room to collect worming meds and claw whackers for his care.

Isn’t he a handsome Bengal boy?

Let me hear in comments what’cha think is the most inner’esting Meowsie News this week!
